From a former LA TV NEWS worker....
26 March 2022
Videotape and live reporting changed everything. No more racing back to the studio to cut and overdub 16 mm film with reporters, editors and news directors. Like the character in "Nightcrawler," Tur had to be there, regardless of the cost, regardless of even the morality of what he was covering-since getting the story was everything.

This was not a pleasant man, and his obsessiveness drives everyone away. Local news in a big city is cut-throat and Tur realizes too late that he cut his own. Sadly fascinating movie-like his shots, you can't look away.

You don't have to be Israeli to laugh....
24 March 2022
The humor is universal but, if you're familiar with Israelis, you'll see all types represented here. The English subtitles are great because they translate modern and every-day Hebrew or Arabic sayings into something more familiar to US audiences. The 4th-wall breaking (talking to the camera) provides some of the funniest moments since the employees each see a situation differently and, frequently, more honestly (and funnier) than their actions would indicate. Is it derivative of The Office or Parks and Recreation? Sure, but that's high praise.
