Three's Company: Chrissy and the Guru (1978)
Funny episode but Jack and Janet made a mistake
This is one funny and classic episode of Three's Company episode from Season 3, but here's what I don't understand. Jack and Janet weren't happy with Chrissy's decision to run off with a Religious Guru, who was nothing but a classic Con man and manipulator, why didn't they threaten to call her Father, Reverend Snow since she was the Daughter of a Minister. I always thought that was a bit strange that the writers didn't think of that for the episode, instead they rather have her loose interest when he was advancing on her sexually on the couch. It would have made sense with the ending scene when Chrissy was on the phone with her Dad if they had told her that they were going to call him to get her away from the Guru.
Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
Christian Bale as Gorr was a great choice, but
I thought Christian Bale's performance was the best part of the movie, but too much comedy is what hurts the film as same with the last movie. The return of Natalie Portman was a good thing to have, but to have it filled with senseless comedy gets tiresome after awhile. To me, Taika Waititi needs to go as the director for the Thor franchise. Kenneth Branagh will always be my favorite Thor director, he brought the story closer to what you would have seen in the Thor comics and not something you'd see in comedy film.
If they want to keep the Thor franchise going they need to scrub out Taika Waititi's comedy and bring back the seriousness with light comedy that we saw in the original Thor.
Star Trek: Voyager: Darkling (1997)
Robert Picardo at his Evil best again
I really liked watching this episode of Voyager especially by the fact that Robert Picardo who played The Doctor got to play an evil version of his character which was created by the fact that he was downloading too many personality traits of famous people in history. They had some good personality traits along with a few aggressive ones that caused him to have a sort of split personality come to life. Picardo gave such a brilliant performance that it reminded me of his role in The Howling, the werewolf serial killer, Eddie Quist. He was so good in that role that I felt like that he brought back some of that great acting from The Howling into this episode of Voyager, that I'm sure he had no trouble getting into villain mode again. Every time I watch this episode I feel like the only thing missing was having The Doctor turn into a werewolf, lol.
Bugsy Malone (1976)
Classic Scott Baio Movie
I had been a fan of Happy Days since the mid to late 70s and I was a fan of Scott Baio so when I saw that this film was coming on TV I had to tune in to watch it and I really liked it, with the comical storyline of Kid Gangsters set during the Prohibition era in NYC set to music from that time I was in for a real treat. Scott gave a great performance in the title role and Jodie Foster was amazing as the beautiful and sassy, Tallulah, Bugsy's ex and girlfriend to Fat Sam. Paul Williams created a great soundtrack for the film which also makes it an even more memorable film. Everytime it was on cable again over the years I made sure to watch it whenever I could and always appreciated it even more for it witty charm and for being a entertaining musical comedy with young actors and dancers. A great gem of a film.
God Bless the Broken Road (2018)
A Good Heartwarming Tale, but with Problems
I really enjoyed the film, acting was good and very dramatic with some Religious aspects, but it has it issues. One thing that movie makers don't realize that the Wife of a Soldier killed during active duty wouldn't be struggling to make money. The Wife and Daughter in this story would be getting money from the Military and/or Government in the event of his death. Also, the Widow of a Military Husband wouldn't be driving around in a broken down mini van, that was shameful to see. What I don't understand, if this Widow was so loved by the people in her Church, why didn't they try to get a fundraiser or more to help her financially or even tried to help her seek counseling to help her with her grief at the lost of her Husband. They also had a guy from her husband's base tell her that if she needed any help with anything to come to them, but yet she is going around for two years after her husband's death without any financial aid when she should have been getting it. Another situation that is left unexplained, the race car driver, Cody is almost killed in a race, the Widow's Daughter prays he's ok and not dead, he survives, but the girl's Mom gets mad and takes her home, but why? They were not in a committed relationship and her late husband didn't die in his military humvee which could've caused her to be upset if he did die that way, then I could see her reason why she left after his crash. If they wanted a good story with a religious theme, they should have had it that the Wife refused to go back to Church cause that's where she got the news about her husband's death and her Family and friends were trying to help her all that time to not turn her back on God and her Faith. Had it that her Husband died in his humvee which would have explained her shock and anger over Cody almost dying in his race car which made her yank her Daughter out of the Go Cart club with the Church Sunday School, but she eventually turns back to God and the Church after her Daughter runs away and she found out that her Husband saved his comrade's life. All and all, still a good movie, but needs improvements with the script.
