avoid season 2 like the plague
19 January 2018
This show started of brilliantly, very funny/quirky with a decent enough story line, had I reviewed it after the first season I'd have given it 9 out of 10. Unfortunately, however, the second season descended into a LGBT propaganda show.. every joke was based around the subject and the entire premise of the show was lost.

very disappointing.

True Detective (2014– )

Truly amazing, truly awful
29 April 2016
I have to give this an overall rating of 5 for this, allow me to explain the reasons...

the first series was a masterpiece of great acting, writing, suspense and intrigue and definitely 10 out of 10 for me... unfortunately the second series had none of this and I opted to not watch the last couple of episodes as I felt my life passing by, truly terrible, possibly the most boring show I have ever watched, nothing happened and it got to the point where I just didn't care any more.

do yourself a favour watch the first series and give the second a wide, wide berth.

Time Changer (2002)

make time to watch this!
3 February 2015
Let me just start by saying that i am not giving this movie a ten because of the acting, which is at best mediocre. I am giving this movie top marks for a couple of reasons: 1. The premise, particularly if you are a Christian, is fantastic. It sums up very well the moral decline over this past 100 years and who could deny the direct correlation with people turning their backs on God (and therefore His standards)... which are of course what the law of any civilized land is based on.

2. Some Church's today could learn a lot from watching this, Church's that try to get people in through their doors by showing them 'they're just like the world' are seriously misguided. Share the Gospel and Trust in God! ... also ignore the reviews from people who hate the God they don't believe in... lol and they reckon Christians are nuts?

rectify the writing
4 August 2014
I am generously giving this show a 3 only because it does a good job at showing the difficulty of trying to integrate back into society after spending 20 years on death row.

Other than that though this show is just plain awful, i have watched 5 episodes of the first series and only because my wife thought that it would improve... it didn't, personally i wouldn't have got past episode three... why? Well for one thing NOTHING happened, i'm all for character building and slow burning plots but Rectify doesn't have a plot! I mean it, absolutely NOTHING happened!! The problem is that it had the potential to work but after 5 episodes the case wasn't even looked at by the police or lawyers!! These 5 episodes should only have taken one episode, maybe two.

worst show ever.

strangely realistic
26 June 2014
I put off watching this show for about a year, maybe because of the title, maybe because of the cover... whatever the reason i am glad that i finally decided to give it a go.

Firstly, the premise of the show is surprisingly realistic, the rise of public dis-satisfaction with the way in which large companies and banks conduct themselves.

Secondly, some of the technology, especially HALO, is certainly conceivable and would you really doubt that the powers that be would try to use technology to try to create a big brother environment on the planet? If you like a touch of Sci Fi do yourself a favour and give it a go.

By the way the acting is pretty decent as well.

madness reigns

if you do not like Vic and Bob then you won't like this show and if you do like them then you'll love it. There is, of course, no real script to this 'sitcom' and certainly no reality to it!!

it is based entirely on the vivid and bizarre imaginations of the funniest British duo in the last 25 years.

Morgana Robinson is absolutely fantastic at being a creepy woman! if you like surreal humour with a hint of the maniacal give House Of Fools a go.

i'm going to give this show an eight

10 lines.

i wasn't sure if i'd like this show or not... after the first episode i still wasn't sure although it was intriguing enough to watch on and boy am i glad i did.

this is the most unique show i have seen in years if not ever, a fantastic story line, brilliantly filmed, great actors and not at all predictable.

i will not say anything about the plot except to say that it is a terrific conspiracy story.

you should definitely give this show a watch, you will not regret it.

10 lines,10 lines, 10 lines,10 lines.

Sad Men
19 November 2013
I know that everybody has differing tastes but i am at a complete loss as to how anybody (let alone most people on IMDb) could actually like this show.

If you have not seen this programme then allow me to summarise it for you. (at least up to and including episode 9) In every episode you will see too much drinking, too much smoking and too many extra marital affairs. About 2% of every episode involves these 'mad men' having to advertise something and about 1% of each show has a tit bit of information in and around what was actually going on in 1960.

By the way are you aware that every married man in 1960 was having an affair and every single woman wanted to be in an affair? no neither was i...

Such poor writing in a show that had so much promise as was highlighted in the first episode.

Count Arthur Strange
19 November 2013
I'm really not sure why i like this programme as much as i do... but it is one of the funniest things i've seen in a long time. i only gave it a go because Graham Linehan was involved in the writing.

It is good clean comedy with the typically bizarre moments you would expect from a piece of Linehan writing... as the show progresses you see Michael slowly but surely becoming one of the crazy collective.

The character that is Count Arthur Strong was an amazing idea and is brilliantly acted in this show.

The confusion is pure quality.

If you have never even heard of the radio show (like me) just give this show a try and you may well be glad you did.

vic and bob...
17 October 2013
i'm only voting on this because precious few have and it's only currently sitting at 6.8 which is criminal for such an amazing show.

to be honest it is difficult to write a review on a show that is so surreal but if you like the idea of cats in bomber jackets and the like then you will love this show.

come on and give this show a go and enter the crazy world of the crazy minds of vic and bob... look out for the adverts for random fruit and veg products! The smell of Reeves and Mortimer... better than Shooting Stars or Vics Big Night Out!!

by the way if you like this, try The Paul Merton Show.

The office
21 August 2013
Let me start by saying that I really enjoy many, many US comedies... But this is certainly not one of them!

If you have seen the office (American version) then you have already seen this show... It is identical. The problem is that Americans cannot do this type of comedy... The whole point of this type of comedy is that when you watch them you are meant to think that they are real, Parks along with the American Office are both terribly overacted and where the humour is meant to be subtle it is in your face, or worse yet it is that annoying American zaney tripe!

Absolutely awful.

who shot JR
22 July 2013
I had my doubts about this show but was convinced to give it a go by a friend... after the first 6 episodes i thought 'boy i got this wrong, this really looks like a decent show'.

Then, after episode 10 i realised that my initial doubts were well founded... i don't know what happened but i just turned into a soap not unlike Dallas or something. It lost it's direction, the writing became painfully contrived and to be honest the Revenge aspect of the show got lost behind several relationships... sad to say it quickly became a bla bla bla show fit only for teenage girls!

i abandoned this one after 14 episodes, it would have been 8 or 9 if not for my wife... now even she can't be bothered with it!!

Give this one a big miss!!! (unless you're a wee girl)

Limmy's Show! (2009–2013)

Impossible to write a spoiler
26 June 2013
This show is pure class!

Not only are most of the characters very funny but Limmy also has the ability to look at the world in a particular manner... sometimes after a sketch i think flip me he's right there, i never thought of that before... other times i think i'm glad someone else has picked up on that as well.

You well know after the first 10 mins of the pilot whether or not you will like this show..

i would say give this a chance and you could well be glad that you did.

nice one Limmy

The Fall (I) (2013–2016)

The Fall Asleep
26 June 2013
The Fall is the most un-original, uninspiring show i'v seen in a long, long time.

Lets start with the storyline; (if you'd call it that) this is a simple serial killer show, the killer you know right from the start so there goes the 'who dunnit' element. There is no attempt from the writers to let you like or hate the villain and the same can be said of the detective trying to catch him. There is no profiling of the killer and to be honest the whole show could have and should have been condensed into a 1 hour episode. Anyone who has seen The Wire will be very unimpressed with this attempt of a show.

By the way, the acting is as poor as the story line, rarely will you see so many wooden actors in one show.

Couldn't be more disappointed with this... and of course it's getting another series!! unbelievable!

Vile
4 April 2013
i have read the reviews on this show and for that reason i feel that i must write a brief one myself. I admit that i have only watched the first episode (that most people seem to think was the best) but i have to say that i will not be watching any more.

A few people here have commented about the acting being very good, which it is, some have commented on the 'unusual plot'... and it is unusual. One of the more negative reviews commented on the fact that some of the details of the show are lacking/missing and i agree with this.

What i find difficult to believe is that no one has picked up on the fact that this show (the first one anyway) was absolutely disgusting/disturbing!! The fact that i felt disturbed after watching it is the only positive thing i can say about it... if you don't feel disturbed after watching this show then there is something seriously wrong with you! Do yourself a favour, stay well away!

The Shadow Line
28 March 2013
Warning: Spoilers
After seeing some very negative reviews on this site for this show i have felt compelled to write something of a reply. The acting in this production is absolutely amazing and the writing is superb and please let it be noted that:

1: locking/not locking car doors is neither here nor there in this show (or in any other show come to think of it)... it could be argued, in fact that due to the type of characters involved that no-one would go anywhere near their vehicles anyway.

2: smoking in a police office? seriously? these cops are involved in massive drug deals... oh yea, and murders!!!! i don't think they're to worried about smoking in an office!

the fact that this show maintains and increases the suspense level throughout each episode without the use of any music whatsoever is indeed a credit to the writing and the acting.

An excellent show well worth the watching.

Bored to Death (2009–2011)
actually bored to death
22 March 2013
i have to say that as a rule i generally like Jewish comedies, Seinfeld, Curb, Woody Allen etc etc and i also like Ted Danson who was very good in Becker.

So i thought this show should be great and i really wanted to like it, but after 4 or 5 episodes i realised that it was actually boring me, nothing happened and there was nothing of note to even make me chuckle... do yourself a favour and give this one a miss.

please ignore this last line as it is only here to appease the line count Nazi's from IMDb!!!

another line IMDb? another line?

A Touch of Embarrassment
13 September 2012
Being a fan of Police Squad I have to say that I found much of this show cringe worthy as it essentially tried (and failed) to remake a classic.

Some of the jokes were funny and some were not, some of the visuals were funny and some were not but one thing they all had in common is that I'd seen and heard them all before…

This show would have been very funny had it been original but if you really want to watch such comedy then watch Police Squad… or Sledge Hammer for that matter.

is this 10 lines yet IMDb?

don't do it
5 July 2012
I could hardly wait for this show, excellent reviews and what a great premise... but what a disappointment to see it so poorly executed. This show is like a cross between The Minority Report and... wait for it... The A-Team, seriously, i was half expecting to see MR T getting drugged and bundled onto a plane. i have rarely seen such wooden acting. As i said, the story line is very good but the way it is delivered is so dis-jointed that it is barely watchable. i have seen shows like this before that have been saved by excellent acting... unfortunately this is not one of them. Please do yourself a favour and give this one a miss.

This is amazing viewing folks. I have to say that i am a fan of Ricky, Karl and Stephen's stuff but not blindly and I would be quick to say that this is not a comedy but does have some very funny bits in it... i have an autistic son and Ricky has captured some of his conditions perfectly in this. For me the show really concentrates on how people with these problems are often 'more human' than us normals!!

I will watch this again and again i'm sure, however i kinda hope that he doesn't make a series out of it, it will gain a better status as a one of. This is such a difficult topic to make a show about and get it right but Ricky has managed just that.
