Mr Bates vs. The Post Office (2024)
My god, not enough tears
I'm a cynical, hard hearted 50-odd year old man, and this made me cry multiple times in every single episode. Britain is nation of awkward little men like Alan Bates. Everyone in this, apart from the Post Office is magnificent. Toby Jones, Alex Jennings, Ian Hart, Monica Dolan - they are amazing. The performances are outstanding. The script is fantastic. The Post Office and Fujitsu are understandable villains in this as well. If you haven't seen it, watch it, you won't be sorry. I can't praise it enough. I have 84 characters to go because IMBD insists on massive reviews. Anyway, watch it and enjoy the best bit of TV for years.
The Commuter (2018)
It's a lot better than you think it is
I gave this a seven and it's a solid 6 or 7. Don't expect high art, but you know what, it's a good way to spend a couple of hours. To be fair, there are bits of it that drag a little, but overall it's worth the effort. There's a great cast of people, no bad performances and some great faces where you say "where do I know him/her from?". Liam is good, the typical strong, powerful performance from him, as you would expect. Again, to be fair, it doesn't start the strongest, but it really builds to an exceptionally strong last act. Don't take this for a filler or straight to video, it's a good, solid stand alone movie. Give it a chance.
Sandylands (2020)
Who is voting this down? It's great
A fantastic ensemble cast, great script, why doesn't this have a much higher rating? I would highly recommend this, and the second series is just as good as the first.
The Woman in the Window (2021)
It's OK
It's OK, not the worst film I have ever seen, but definitely not the best. A bit of a waste of a good cast. I didn't really care about the fate of any of the characters. A mash-up of 'Rear Window' and 'Copycat', the original author of this novel has frankly got a bit of a cheek.
The Devil All the Time (2020)
A waste of good talent
A mess of a movie, with a load of disconnected stories about unpleasant people. Save yourself two and a half hours and don't want it. Boring.
Jackie Brown (1997)
Mostly boring
It's really slow, mostly boring, why is this so highly rated. If it wasn't for De Niro towards the end, and Jackson all the way through, it would be unwatchable.
Little Women (2019)
Boring
Goes from women screaming at each other, and in general, to mumbling. 2 hours of my life I'm never getting back.
