Will You Merry Me? (2008)
Borderline Offensive, PLEASE!!!
For the person who was offended, lighten up! I am Jewish married to a very Catholic wife. The jokes were fine. Some were a little dumb, meaning too obvious or assumed overly stupid characters, but, offensive, no. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but, in this case, a joke is a joke. I can't imagine they intended to offend anyone. My parents were not thrilled I married non-Jewish and that was almost 25 years ago. Surely society has changed since then too. Since this is a Christmas movie, the settings for the comedy were appropriate if too predictable. It's not a great movie but it's certainly a Christmas movie worth watching.
My Boss's Daughter (2003)
Worse than Plan 9 From Outer Space
I have used IMDB for some time but felt obligated to register just to help prevent poor unsuspecting folks from renting or, worse, buying this stinker!! Ashton has absolutely no acting ability and he's the best part of the movie. Avoid at ALL cost!! Even the outtakes on the DVD are embarrassing.
Air Force One (1997)
It'll Keep You on the Edge of Your Seat
I've seen this movie a number of times. I bought it on VHS and then again on DVD. It's so exciting that I still get cold feet even though I know the end. Harrison Ford is great in this movie. I don't care that some folks say there are many technical errors about Air Force One (the airplane itself). It's still a real heart pounder.
Ghost (1990)
Have the tissues ready.
My family hates it when this one comes on TV. It doesn't matter if it's the first or last five minutes, I put the remote down and watch it to the end. Some of the effects are a little lame but Demi and Patrick are wonderful together. If you're a macho man, watch it alone so no one sees you cry!
Road House (1989)
Very Exciting!
Another Patrick classic like Ghost and Dirty Dancing. Patrick really likes "See ya" as I've heard it in all three movies mentioned here. This one has too much cut when it's on TV so either rent or buy it to really appreciate the movie. You miss some plot points on TV because of the cut scenes. If you have a chance to see the play (a spoof) don't miss it. I saw it in Greenwich Village in NY. It was hilarious!
Dirty Dancing (1987)
My All Time Favorite
I can recite the lines and I still get tears watching this cult classic. Jennifer and Patrick are so good together. The DVD has lots of extras including interviews with Jennifer and her old (better) nose. Every time I see Jerry Orbach I think of Baby. Worth seeing over and over again, until your eyes bleed. At least that's what my family claims of me!
