Cheaper by the Dozen (2022)
Fun Disney Movie and Surprisingly Good Acting
My wife and I watched not expecting much and came away liking it and hoping for a follow-up. This is from someone who really liked the Steve Martin ones...and who finds messaging overdone in many shows today. It was definitely there, but really not obstructive. It felt like something between a DCOM and theatrical release.
It was just a light, fun movie with a bit of a different take. We both felt that the acting was almost universally good. One of the kids reaaaaaaalllly wasn't great, but it worked out fine. Adults were all good.
Bottom line, we had a good time watching.

Funniest Interview with Jeremy
It's always fun to see what Piper comes up with in interviews. Jeremy has an awesome personality, so perfect mix! Really funny!
90210 (2008)
Better than Expected!
I went in as a big fan of the original, expecting to be disappointed. I actually like this show! I don't think I'd feel the same without Jennie Garth. I'm hoping that the original characters don't appear just for the purpose of launching this show. That would detract from the authenticity of the project and diminish the lure in to watching the show. The only weird return from a Spelling predecessor is Rob Estes - only because I feel like Lisa Rinna or Heather Locklear are about to run onto the set.
The tie-ins with the original are great. This show seems to have been developed very well as far as consistency is concerned. The acting is also better than expected.
It took me a season to get into the original - I say give this one a chance! I totally didn't expect to like this one. Still, feels weird watching an updated version of a show that ended just a few years ago.
Anastasia (1997)
Absolutely terrific from a non-historical perspective!
The story and character acting is at least as good as the best of Disney's princess movies. The animation is a little behind Disney's for 1997. No matter, Meg Ryan, Christopher Lloyd, Kelsey Grammar, Angela Lansburry and the screenplay much more than make up for it. The scene when Anastasia sings "Once Upon a December" is amazing. Lacey Chabert is in this too. She's the singing voice of Anastasia at the beginning of the movie. She also does the talking voice of Anastasia in the extras segment. The true history of Anastasia is horrible and unforgettable. It always is disturbing to see the true history of a fairytale...entertainment built on a tragedy. I would prefer that the story's characters have different names and take place somewhere else. Although then, we wouldn't have the desire to go back and learn the truth in many cases. As a fictional story, the movie is great.
Barbie as the Princess and the Pauper (2004)
I'm not exactly in the Barbie demographic...but
this is an EXCELLENT product. It certainly is good enough to have been a theatrical release. It's one of the best soundtracks I've heard on the kids' products - on par with Disney. The animation is great, the voice talent is terrific. My only disappointment was when I looked up some of the talent and couldn't find them on another Barbie video (well, as main characters at least). Terrific adaption of the story. I actually enjoy listening to the CD in the car with my daughter! I didn't realize that Martin Short was on the video until after I went to IMDb. The singing voices are great as well. After a string of disappointing "part 2s" from Disney, it's nice to find that another big name is stepping up with direct-to-video quality that can entertain over and over.
