Anyone who has tuned into the second season of "90210," will be able to tell you that the series has become an entertaining and fun watch. However, while the new producer Rebecca Rand Kirshner Sinclair has done a very good job of cleaning up the mess that former "90210" exec's Jeff Judah, Gabe Sachs, and Rob Thomas left behind, she still insists to hold onto characters that serve no purpose and are a total bore to watch. This keeps the series from being it's best. Nevertheless I still recommend that everyone check out 90210's second season. It's a trashy teenage soap, and it's fun and entertaining to watch. The second season began with a wave full of problems and questions for the West Beverly Hill-ians. Who did Annie Wilson (Shenae Grimes) presumably kill in her hit-and-run incident? Are former lovers Dixon Wilson (Tristan Wilds) and Erin Silver (Jessica Stroup) over for good? Will Naomi Clarke (Annalynne McCord) ever discover the truth behind her ex-boyfriend Liam Court (Matt Lanter) sleeping with her sister? And how will the dynamic change between Adrianna Tate-Duncan (Jessica Lowndes) and boyfriend Navid Shirazi (Michael Steger) now that she is no longer pregnant and now that her ex love Teddy Montgomery (Trevor Donavan) has returned to Beverly Hills? New characters have flooded the scene, each adding their own level of intensity to the storyline. Theses new characters being mysterious and mentally unbalanced Jasper Herman (Zachary Ray Sherman) who starts becoming to significant in outsider Annie Wilson's world, older woman Sasha (Mekia Cox) who begins a secret tryst with Dixon, the son of a famous celebrity Teddy Montgomery who finds himself drawn to Silver, surfer chick Ivy Sullivan (Gillian Zinser) who has the hot's for Liam, frat boy Jamie (Travis Van Winkle) who begins to fall for Naomi, and the punky cute news reporter and lesbian Gia (Rumer Willis), who ends up romancing a fellow female student. The regular characters have also improved in the development department drastically, which does allow the actors portraying them to show more range. Most improved acting definitely goes to Jessica Stroup who spent the entire first season forced to portray an unlikable character who spent the entire time whining over someone who frankly isn't worth it in the first place. This season the writers have chosen to take her away from her former boyfriend and focus on her as a character as well as her relationship with a new young suitor. The relationship between Silver and Teddy has proved to be a fan favorite and a increasingly entertaining watch. Most improved character would probably go to Annie Wilson. Last season the character, it appeared, had no flaws, this season that's pretty much all she has. Her story lines have heated up and there are no longer hate messages posted about her on message boards. In comparison to last season, this season isn't afraid to admit that it's trashy. Last season the writers were completely obsessed with trying to shove supposed "thought-provoking" story lines down the audience's throat, and failed miserably. This season it's all about sleaze, sex, and teen debauchery, and it works much better for them.
