Ahsoka (2023– )
8/10
Enjoying this show after an iffy start
28 August 2023
I quite like this show, but it might be a little awkward for new viewers who arent familiar with Clone Wars and Rebels animated shows who are trying to get invested in characters they feel they are already supposed to now. I loved Rebels but the Sabine and Rebels we see in this arent quite the ones from the animated show and Sabine is quite unlikeable at least so far. Ahsoka feels a little down played by Dawson, even compared to how she was in Mando and Boba, and a little wooden. The new Dark Jedi are good and i am just going with the story so far, with the map, hunt for Ezra and threat of Admiral Thrawn looming, although again, if you never saw Rebels, your thinking who the hell is Thrawn. The Rebels Characters do seem to be dominating the proceedings though for a show called Ahsoka, maybe she should be a little more prominant. Fingers crossed the show improves though.

Now 4 Episodes in, i feel the show has gone from strength to strength, things are coming together and Ahsoka has more to do which i am liking. My only negative now is some dodgy looking CGI in some places. Enjoying the show.

Was barely serviceable, now awful
17 May 2021
I have to say that I was never a fan of this show, although I did watch it on and off. Hetty was the best thing about this show, I liked Dekes too. But now Hetty is getting less and less screen time and these new Characters have joined, , its become a cringingly awful PC fest. Even my Partner hates the show and she quite liked it before Season 12.

I can't believe this show survived cancelation over New Orleans, as this was by far the better show for me. What started as a score of 5 or 6 for me with Hetty making the show, has dropped to a 3 with the New Cast. Awful!!

Very Very Disappointing
29 December 2020
After the excellent Original Wonder Woman, probably everyone had high hopes for this. Same Director / Writer etc....What we end up with is an overblown, overlong, snore-fest that could have had about 40 mins chopped of the running time and would still have been too long. There are so many scenes that are not required and bring nothing to the overall movie, There is more Cheese in this Movie than Cheddar Gorge. The effects are not that impressive and some are downright awful (Diana using her Lasso to swing through the sky using lightning, did not look right at all). Also felt Chris Pines role was disappointing too, would rather they had not bothered. Only a couple of positives Gal Gadot and Christin Wiig look great. That's it.

A fair and fun effort
27 December 2020
As someone who only gave the Original Movie 6, and enjoyed Beyond Skyline more (7), i actually quite enjoyed this too. Fair FX, the acting isn't bad and there are a fair few well known faces from straight to DVD and TV. The story has borrowed heavily from Aliens among other Films to get where it wants to go but that didn't matter to me as i found it quite an enjoyable couple of Hours. For me it was a better way to waste 2 hrs than watching the POOR Wonder Woman 1984 and Skylines cost a fraction of that. Also there is a blooper reel with the end credits which brings a chuckle too.

Awful voice, Slow Movie
24 October 2020
I like Adam Sandler most of the time, and wanted to like this Film. It's great that he brought all his friends in for this Movie, there are recognisable faces throughout this film, but i just found it slow, and within 30 mins i was looking at the clock and starting to skip bits with Adam doing the same push bike crash a few times in the first half hour, it had it's moments but hitting you over the head repeatedly with the morality story didn't help. You can look and sound stupid but be the smartest in the Town, and get the Girl. The entire Town bullied and berated him and it turns out they all have their own deficiencies and miserable lives when it comes down to it. Yaaay for Hubie!! Overall i have seen far better from Adam Sandler and worse too.

Could have been sooo much more!
10 July 2020
The idea behind this Movie had potential and was quite interesting and with a bigger budget, bigger stars and a better director, this could have been good. Sadly with a low straight to DVD / TV Movie budget (or that's how it felt), poor direction it just fell over from the start. Alarm bells rang when you see the Director is also one of the stars and has his Family involved as well. Kelsey Grammer, Thomas Jane and Denise Richards are there to hopefully give the Film some gravitas but sadly they are all minor roles and all are extremely under used. In the escape scene at the start, The guns used when firing look / sound more like kids cap guns and scenes on the plane could have been shot in rooms in a Warehouse. Also very predictable, you could see every supposed twist a mile away, just very disappointed overall.

A shame it didnt go to Series
15 June 2020
It was a real shame that this Show didn't go to a Series. It was an excellent Pilot Episode that kept me watching throughout. The mystery and tension were well handled and the realisation that the World was going to change considerably for the survivors after Today was right in your face. All the Actors did well in their roles and the effects and story were solid. Its sad that Chris Carter doesn't command the same power he once did and Amazon were not willing to take a risk as this could well have put Chris Carter back where he belongs and given Amazon a hit show. Now a few Years later, maybe its time Amazon had another look at this missed Gem, and considered a reboot.

Fair effort but could have been so much more
2 March 2020
Wow, I just looked up how old J.C .Mackenzie is and he is only 3 years older than me, he looks so old, is his Mother sucking the life from him, she definitely could be a monster.!! Nearly the whole Family have little to no redeeming features and they get worse through the series. On the whole I am enjoying the show but I agree with many comments in other reviews about this show, too P.C. so many stereotypes, no real likeable characters and J.C. Mackenzie looking more like the Grandfather than the Father and not enough Monsters, I am sure next we will find that the real Monsters are the Humans. Please Netflix, don't turn into SyFi Channel for quality.

Doctor Who: Orphan 55 (2020)
Season 12, Episode 3
4/10
Shockingly Awful
16 January 2020
I actually like the opening sequence, its a nice throwback to Tom Baker Era Doctor Who. That's the good bits out of the way. This episode was sadly a throwback to Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy era. The first Alien they are greeted by looks like a reject from Cats stage show, the Mechanics with Green hair were awful and the Dregs were well......the Dregs to be honest. An unoriginal story done pretty badly and not very special effects top off this awful, predictable episode. I don't know how much longer I will be giving this show the benefit, last Season was poor, so far this is much worse. They wanted a Female Doctor, the least they could do is provide her with better material to work with.

What Was Bruce Thinking?
10 December 2019
Just another Movie that shows Bruce must desperate for the Money, and that it doesn't matter how good an Actor you are, if the Director is awful, then you are going to be made to look like you have never acted before. The dialogue was awful, and the actors didn't look like they were getting any direction at all, they just looked lost. At about 10 Minutes gone, so was I, which is a real shame as I like most of Bruce's Movies. Steer well clear.

Unnecessary Dissapointment
17 November 2019
Apart from some nice star voices, this seemed just too polished for its own good with some sickly sweet moments and cheesy acting from some of the Humans involved. With Jarring and unnecessary PC changes and missing some of the best bits from the Original, this just missed the mark completely for me. Disney should really have updated the setting rather than keep the early 1900s period as many have said before. Some good CGI just doesn't cover the cracks of another terrible, disappointing remake / re-imagining of a classic original. Either watch and forget or better still, just watch the original instead.

Twisted Encounter
1 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
With a low budget, Set in a Small County in the US, but made with a British Cast of relative unknowns, this was a far better Movie than I expected it to be and much, much better than the average score suggests. An unusual take on the Alien abduction theme, it takes place one Year to the day after a Family's Daughter goes missing. The Family is then terrorised by strange noises and lights in the sky, Aliens appear to then move in on the House and Family members. Plenty of tension, decent effects and a nice twist with a finale that maybe could have been done better but an engrossing Movie none the less, and well worth a look.

Best Sci-Fi on TV since Firefly
28 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I was sceptical before viewing this show, but I was hooked from the first episode onwards. Excellent characters and surprisingly superb special effects along with realism (as far as I can tell) with the space sequences and space battles, brilliant storytelling with planetary politics between Earth and Mars in a Cold War environment along with the hard working lower classes known as the Belters (The backbone of Space expansion, development and Mining.) who want recognition as a Group on their own to match Earth and Mars, that and the disturbing developments occurring with an Alien pathogen that is being messed with by scientists to be used as a Weapon, but they don't really understand what they are messing with and the Alien pathogen is more sentient than they realise. Comparing it to other shows, only Firefly and Babylon 5 come to mind, because of the lone ship battling everyone to do the right thing Including just surviving (Firefly), and the Politics, with Earth and Mars along with Alien intervention (Babylon 5) This gripped me from the start and I cannot wait for Season 4 to start after it was taken on by Amazon to continue after Sci-Fi cancelled it, to be honest this show was too good for Sci-Fi anyway. I hope this show gets more Seasons so it can expand further.

Kept me watching to the end!
25 October 2019
I have to say I really enjoyed this film, I wasn't expecting much and was prepared to start fast forwarding but was hooked from the beginning. Minimal cast and locations and effects done sparingly but well when needed. A previous review compared it to Cube and Blair Witch. I would agree with Cube but certainly not with the awful Blair Witch drivel. This is supposedly based on a Stephen King book and directed by Vincenzo Natale (Cube) so I can understand where the connections come from. All actors do well in their roles with what they have to do. With a Time and Space bending environment along with the Tall Grass to disorientate, I found this a disconcerting, spooky Movie that kept me watching to then end.

Got it!
8 September 2019
I got the jokes, not that many were that funny. I got why the Directing, Acting and dialogue were done the way they were done. I got the references to other Movies and in-jokes. I got the nice cameos by some big name actors too, although they seemed rather a waste of time etc....I just don't really get why the Movie was made in the first place. Just a disappointment overall with lots of bizarre little quirks and an ending that makes you wonder why you stayed to the end. I know that by the end I was just thinking "what the hell!!"

Stick to JAG
6 August 2019
They should have gone with a reboot of JAG instead, like so many have said before, this is a shockingly bad effort in every way. I agree with all previous posts about Ranks, Uniforms, dialogue, etc... the list goes on. After 2 Episodes, I shall be sticking to my 10 Season DVD box set of JAG and TV Re-Runs, its far more accurate and enjoyable.

A fair effort from Netflix but could have been better
14 September 2018
Firstly the animation in pretty good, and holds its own against the big animation studios. The story is ok, not original but good enough and the voice cast are good too, no expense seems to have been spared. Just a shame that the main character of Mai is so Psychologically messed up, bitter and twisted which tended to ruin the overall story for me as it made it hard to root for someone that unlikeable, I just felt sorry for the robot that wanted to be her friend. The film felt overly long to me at over 100 mins long, I think they could have trimmed 10 to 15 mins easily and at times my mind did wander onto other things. At an estimated 150 Million Dollar budget, I am sure they could have made several better Movies for the cost of this one. I do hope it makes money for Netflix as it did have its moments but I don't think it will.

Just awful
8 September 2018
I watched the first 10 minutes of this Movie and wanted to switch off....but I persisted and can safely say that it doesn't get any better. The effects are pretty bad, even for a low budget sci-fi movie, the acting is shocking and in the opening scenes you see extras walking about and a couple having an argument can barely keep a straight face, the fight scenes and sound affects are embarrassing to watch and the alien is rubber mask level stuff. I cant Believe that this has scored so highly. If you are hell bent on watching a low, low budget sci-fi movie go watch Hunter Prey instead.

A shadow of what it once was!
17 June 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I loved this show when it first started ( I scored it a solid 9) and continued to up until the end of Season 13.....That is where it should have finished. With nearly all the original cast gone and poor Ducky semi-retired, Gibbs is left floundering on his own with lots of new cast members that just have not worked, least of all is Maria Bello whose character does very little apart from get in the way, and for a character that is supposed to be getting in peoples heads to interrogate or help them, she seems to need more help than all of them put together. Gibbs just seems lost and coasting, I know this show has been green lit for a 16th Season and I really do think that should be it, but I am sure that the powers that be will flog this horse long after its dead. This show is a tired shadow of what it was and should hang up its gun and badge while it still has a pulse. (and don't even get me started on NCIS:LA, a generic cop show that they just stuck NCIS on the front of to sell it, a regurgitation of what they did with CSI Miami (Cops in the sun), New Orleans is better but still a poor relation. Rant over.

Now as we are entering Season 18 i can say that the new Characters have grown on me just a little bit. Its still not a patch on the earlier series but i am still watching.

Wasted Potential
26 March 2018
Warning: Spoilers
First of all this doesn't really feel like a Star Wars Movie to me. I came out rather underwhelmed and disappointed, deflated and lots of other words along those lines. I could pick holes in the movie all day long but all I would be doing is repeating what others have said. There are so many things, Luke's attitude throughout the film, the scene where Leia floats back to the space ship after getting sucked out, and lives. Rey's Jedi talent without ANY training. etc etc etc. the list goes on. All the potential created from The Force Awakens is literally stomped to death and destroyed for Characters, potential story lines and characters (not least Captain Fasma). And yes, I still gave it a 6. Maybe a 5 would have been more appropriate. And yes I will be getting this movie on Blu-Ray but I won't be in a hurry.

A hidden Gem
21 March 2018
With a relatively low budget and a few recognisable names this was going to be a tough sell, but while watching this I got more and more into it. The space / air dog fights were impressive, the acting and direction were very good and the make up effects were better than I would have hoped for. This was an original and enjoyable sci-fi movie that I hope gets a Volume Two.

Fair to Middling Movie
21 March 2018
I was looking forward to this Movie, but alarm bells went off the moment it started. The Direction is shocking and it doesn't matter how good an actor you are if the director is poor you are going to come over as the worst actor ever. I like Kelsey Grammer and Kellen Lutz but both don't come out of this very well, it says a lot when the big hairy Australian comedy relief character comes out of it better than the actors you paid the big money too. The special effects were half decent and spiders were quite scary and it seems the movie had a decent budget. They just let it go horribly wrong. The movie was primarily funded by Australia and China so I would have said that Russell Mulcahy would have been an ideal Director choice. They chose someone else and this is the end result. What should have been a 7/10 is actually a 5. Disappointing.

Why?
23 February 2018
With all that they could have done to revitalise the Stargate franchise, they wasted the opportunity with this. Clearly low budget, iffy acting and only 10 minute episodes spoil this, along with ripping off scenes from the original movie at the beginning, and using an actor that appeared in Stargate Atlantis as Katherine's Father who looked nothing like the original actor. I now look at my score of 5 and think I over scored it. I just chopped it to a 4. It seems fans of the Movie, SG1, Atlantis and even Universe will have to wait a lot longer for a true successor.

Sub Par effort
7 May 2017
Right from the beginning this had a straight to DVD / TV feel to it. An excellent cast seem wasted and Connie Nielson is totally miscast with a horrible accent, I usually like her too. Like others have said, the action scenes are poor and the music was awful and brought nothing to the Film, maybe they didn't have the budget. At one point Chen's character mentions NATO rounds being 7.62, when they are now 5.56, but I am just being picky. Any way I lost interest after about 30 minutes. I have liked Simon West's movies in the past but he has seriously lost it of late. On the whole a Sub Par effort.
