To the Sci-Fi geek, you will enjoy the effort
4 November 2009
Warning: Spoilers
I was eleven years old in 1983. Like most people my age, parents everywhere tuned into the original. Sure, I watched it at 11 years old. I wonder looking back now, years later, how much did I miss as a child? Being a closet Sci-Fi geek I decided to give this a try. I enjoyed the graphics, the acting, the music, and the writing to the 2009 remake. The downside for me was two fold. I do not think 46 minutes is enough for true character development. I felt no real loss when Elizabeth's character ended up an alien. I was starting to like him, and episode two or three could have spilled the beans for me. Because of the time restraint, the feeling of being rushed is an understatement. Series now a days leave more for the imagination. Fans don't mind watching and waiting another week for another clue. And based on the reviews I have seen, many didn't see the 1983 series, so it's not like they are knowing what to expect!

If you've read Goblet of fire more than once.....
19 November 2005
You know I marked this post as a spoiler, because if you are truly a Harry Potter Book fan, I want you to judge for yourself. This movie started a storyline and just plain forgot to get back to it. They lost the MAGIC of Harry Potter. My family of readers and I read the books several times. Even the next morning, we still had to say it's awful. I was not impressed leaving the theater. I don't know what to tell my two nieces when they ask me to take them. I might as well read Goblet to them. They would get more from that than this movie.

If it wasn't for Fred and George's humor, I might have walked out an hour into the movie.

At this point, I doubt I will even buy the DVD.

What Peter Jackson can put into a 3 hour movie is amazing. I think he's free for ORDER!

This was movie rubbish! Try to count how many times Ron spoke the phrase "Bloody Hell". That was 80% of his lines.

UGH!

People ask me why I watch it so much!
23 June 2005
Warning: Spoilers
I had heard of Phantom of the Opera growing up. I learned several songs in choir as a child. The closest I came to "Phantom" growing up was the CD in my twenties. I have always loved the lyrics, core and talent from the singers.

Joel made that movie for me. I was the first time Phantom fan.

Let me say, however disappointed I was with comparing Michael Crawford and Gerry, changed 100% by Why so Silent. Gerald gave me total chills with Don Juan, & Point of no Return. I had chills.

I need to get my Patrick Wilson fix everyday.

And Emmy Rossum. Every song was great. I now even like Wishing you were somehow here again. She was flawless. To me, she will always be Christine.

So I watch it so much for the NEW VOCAL TALENT....and perfect balanced score.

I have seen it three times in theatres already, can't get enough!

I've seen Return of the King, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. I was also blessed with the soundtrack. Howard Shore is amazing. His music for Return of the King cannot be topped. Period.

How was acting? All I can say, Sean Astin, Bernard Hill, even John Noble deserves best supporting nomination. As for best Actor, Viggo Mortensen, Ian McKellen.

The beauty of this movie is its love for one another. The love was shown at the end of this movie. You won't get any spoliers from me! The sadness portrayed from the gifted actors and actresses on the screen went straight into my heart. I imagine I will cry once again seeing the movie for the 4th time. -Gia
