Brave New World (2020)
This year's winner
Best show of the year
It fully deserves this title, the new Westworld season comes next to it.
I just loved it. Watched it twice in 4 days. This is the kind of show we all need to watch and wander where we're heading as a scoiety.
Talented cast as well.
Just do yourself a favour and watch it.
The Witcher (2019)
It's the 4th time watching the first season and I need more
Seriously, I need more of this....
The first season overdelivers to my expectations as a former GOT fan (until they blew it.)
Yennifer it's above and beyond, at times I feel her more than any other character. Simply amazing performance.
Looking forward to more character development in future seasons. The entire cast it's brilliant and the dialogue it's great. Regardless it you love it or hate it, it's amazingly done. First good Netflix series with a promising future in terms of quality.
The Princess Switch: Switched Again (2020)
So disappointed
I rarely give a bad score...but this is bad.
The only good thing about it it's the cast. Yes, Vanessa it's bloody talented but the plot is so bad I can't even.
Living proof that sometimes Netflix should stop milking money and invest in developing good content. (Aham, like the OA was. We didn't forget that,)
Overall, without Vanessa this would be a certified fiasco and it's all on Netflix's greed. She played beautifully all 3 parts but honestly the plot is so forcefully twisted it doesn't give any actor much to work with.
The Secret: Dare to Dream (2020)
Unexpectedly good
I give it a 10 because I started watching it assuming it was worth a maximum of 5.
It's warm, uplifting an beautifully casted. It's the first movie in a while I don't feel forced . Despite my expectations of seeing a chick flick, and it does mark some of its boxes , it's worth the view. It wasn't too sweet and the message was nice. Yes, it's cliche at times but for the first time in a long time it felt right. It's a nice movie , not a masterpiece but in a world of Netflix underdelivering it's a pleasant change.
Queen Marie of Romania (2019)
The queen of our harts
This movie is something that Romania didn't knew it needed but it did. Great costumes and choice of actors. As a romanian maybe I would have enjoyed a little bit more detail in their everyday life, the action goes quite fast . I believe it managed to capture well the spirit of our most beloved queen. Going to see this in cinema really gave me , and the rest of the viewers, a feeling of patriotism and pride. Queen Maria of Romania is our most beloved monarchy figure and this movie is an amazing addition to our culture.
Molly's Game (2017)
Very captivating
From a movie and story perspective it is a very captivating movie with an interesting story and strong built characters. I didn't have one dull minute with it and this for me happens rarely. I truly enjoyed it and I think some valuable lessons can be taken from it.
Sex, Explained (2020)
Extremely educative
Probably one of the best documentary series I've watched with lost of information that I was not aware of. Might appeal more to women and less to men but I also think some parts of it are very useful to know by men as well. I truly hope this will reach as many girls and women as possible as I truly appreciate the note of encouragement and empowerment to make your own choices about your body and it did offer some interesting information to start researching if interested.
Penny Dreadful: A Blade of Grass (2016)
Deep,dark and powerful
This episode was truly beautiful ,astonishingly powerful and genuine.Eva Green is an amazing actress! She offers Vanessa more depth and humanity than ever and captures our eyes and breaths for an hour! I love how we get to see Vanessa truly lost and vulnerable only to have her back in control at the end of the episode. Best episode of this show and maybe best episode of a TV series ever! It would have been perfect without the last line.I feel that the Dracula story is a little forced into the show, there are many myths out there more believable than this. Also,I don't think the relationship between Lucifer and Dracula is believable but at this point with Green's acting everything else fades in a plain background and gets forgotten. Brilliant episode !
