La cena perfetta (2022)
Deserves a better recognition
Although I don't know any of the actors, I liked the synopsis and decided to watch. Honestly? It was a big surprise. Good actors. Good story. Worth to watch. I have always dreamed to see stories where something bad becomes good. Well this is one of those and quite realistic. Someone who lived with the Camorra (Naples's criminal organization equivalent to the Sicilian mafia) who took an unexpected opportunity to convert his life in something good. It gives hope. It's sentimental. Although the caliber of the actors is not from the Hall Of Fame, still I did appreciate the main characters. As mentioned in the title, I believe that the film deserves better recognition.
Dobbiamo parlare (2015)
Could have been a theatre
A very psychological movie interpreted by four great actors. The geniality is to concentrate the full movie in a room and make it interesting to watch. I personally loved it. I loved the humor. I loved the way the characters expressed their feelings and their weaknesses. I think it's a small masterpiece.
A few ingredients. A cat. A house mainly represented by a living room. A red fish.
I mean really there are no special effects but instead it is content rich and very entertaining. The story is about friendship, couple relationship and how it can relate. All but boring from the first minute. A must watch.
Marilyn ha gli occhi neri (2021)
The hidden world
There's a hidden world out there. A world of forgotten people. Marginalized. People that can give much more if we could see through for once. Superb acting by the main characters. Stefano Accorsi and Myriam Leone are some of the best Italian contemporary actors and Netflix choice to produce the movie is a winning decision.
Narcos (2015)
Strong as the man who's story is told
Probably the best masterpiece that has ever been interpreted by non stars Hollywood celebrities. I cannot find the smallest negative remarks, from the scenes, to the smallest details that brings back into the seventies and what really the Medellín Cartel meant in those years being way stronger than the government army. The scenes scare as if it was a documentary and not a movie. Quality wise one of the best if not the best series I have seen so far. Wonderful!
Only suggestion. The series contains plentiful of violence and sensitive scenes including drugs. I think it's not appropriate for minors and sensitive people.
La grande bellezza (2013)
It's been long long time
I have to admit, after IL DIVO my expectations for this movie were very high, since Toni Servillo and Paolo Sorrentino are still there together after five years. However, while the other is depicting the character of a living man, on the contrary this one is a story, a magnificent invention which describes a lesser known side of Italy beyond its stereotypes.
The music, the scenography, the photography and the sites, all superbly chosen. Paolo Sorrentino proves that Italian cinema, despite a great pause, can come back again at its level best and this masterpiece in my belief deserves the recognition that critics in the past have reserved to great maestros such as Federico Fellini.
Benvenuti al sud (2010)
As good as the original!
As another person already remarked this is a remake of another french movie that I have viewed and liked it very much. Both are as good because send a strong message against prejudice and the aim in my opinion is well achieved. I think both deserve to be seen because apart from the hilarious script which made me laugh from beginning to end, it's at moments touching and in others so true that one wouldn't doubt a second this could have even been a real story.
I have seen it in Italian and although I know it's translated also in other languages (i.e. German) I can't imagine whether the movie translated makes laugh as the Italian version.
