Immanence (2022)

It's not as bad as they say imho
15 June 2022
Ok, it's not a masterpiece, it won't take any Oscars home. The fight between good and evil, between science and fate... It's all not very subtle.

But an average 3.3? Seems a little harsh. It kept my attention throughout. The acting was decent at least. The speed was right. I had a fairly good time. I'd say give it a shot. Hope you enjoy.

Ok is ok

This one kinda kept my attention throughout the movie. That's good right. The acting was ok, with the obligatory irritating characters.

It kinda remembered me of the movie Voodoo, also a FF film.

If you like the genre, then give it a shot. Don't expect too much and you might have a good time. So it's ok. Nothing more nothing less.

6 or 7
10 September 2018
I'm still thinking it over... At least a 6. All in all the film kept my interest throughout with solid kids/teens performances. Lot's of talent here. The atmosphere is brooding and that makes the kids chemistry and interactions a pleasure to follow. I enjoyed this aspect of the movie. Especially the sexual tension between the boy and the girl. Horror? Not so much. The ending is kinda bloody, but feels rushed and even a little out of place. It also contains at least 2 rather big movie mistakes. So it's fun to watch, although the third act is a generic affaire. A 6 it is.

This is indeed horrible.

There's only one reliable review out here... You know how these things work nowadays... Well, what can I say... All things beyond are my personal opinions. Let that be clear up front.

It's bad. It's all bad. Story is thin as can be. Acting is bad. The "atmosphere" is bad. Low budget isn't an excuse for making bad movies. Often on the contrary. But in this case it just implies all the stuff mentioned before. I'm sorry, for me it was a total mess...

I am Legend 0.2
22 January 2017
FOA: My English is so so and I'am lazy, so don't mind the spelling I don't need many words. You want bad? Watch syfy. You want worse? Watch Asylum

Can't I stop yet? I've said it all. Oh wait. Did I tell it is kinda really bad impression of I am legend and it's predecessors.

But where I am legend stole the idea and made a more than descent movie (accept for killing the dog, you idiots), I am omega steals the same things but turns it into an insult for the original. The acting... got the lead from kickboxer 17 or something...you know what you can expect. I don't get this. There are a lot of "hidden", undiscovered yet talented actors whom would play the role for F free!!! It's not that this guy is gonna attract extra potentional viewers.

I assume, yes offense, only complete birdbrains can enjoy this movie. I can't even slightly recommend it to horror buffs or genre aficionado's (is that an English word?)

Nah, you're better off watching Legend for the 12th time and skipping the dog scene.

Come on IMDb. This is a drag. There are people who prefer to read the smaller, morte to the point reviews. How much characters do you want?

Oh yeah. Watch this with your girlfriend if you want to break up with her and tell her it's your favorite movie and you think it's very layered and cry at the end (if you ever get there). I mean, let the movie do the dirty work you know?

The Snare (2017)

True Indie Masterpiece
9 January 2017
Start with this, English in not my mother language. My apo's for spelling mistakes... How's your Dutch btw? :-)

The general opinion doesn't seem to agree with me. 3.4 vs 9??? Well, I've read the user reviews already here. And Shining, well (only applies to movie not book) always has been a little overrated to me. But I can see the parallels that were drawn. Alice in Wonderland? The woman is slowly descending into madness. If that's a reference to Alice in Wonderland I can see one in every movie. Just take it for what it is pls.

I just think it does not have the aspiration to be like that movie (Shining). At least not intentionally. I just watched it for what is was, and these are my personal conclusions:

It's a slow burner. You have to like that kind of movie. I know that put's off a lot of people. It relies heavy on it's creepy atmosphere. You have to invest in the movie to get really into it. The acting of the lead actress is outstanding. Her mental descent and physical transformation are really impressive. For me seldom seen in low budget movies. (The original Martyrs comes to mind as another exception) It is very scary. Not only by atmosphere but also by jump scares. It is visually stunning in it's simplicity, because it does not have that "Hollywood film" over it and yet it's able to grab you by the neck. It looks "European real (for lack of better words) It's also somewhat gory. Depends on what you are used to I guess. But there are definitely some stomach-turning moments. It is also erotically charged in a sick kinda way. First seduction and innocent flirting, then animal instincts taking over. And damn it is so creepy!!!

Watch this movie if you like slow burnin' horror movies. If you have a short attention span, go watch ghostbusters (n.o.) You have to like the genre, if not, that's the only condition I can think to let this one slip.

And for the love of god. For once they showed a boob. Just because it happened to be there... on a chest... of most women...

Disappointing
4 September 2011
This is so disappointing. From the man who gaves us the rec series. IMHO the best Spanish horror movies ever made. But this one... In a couple of words...Stupid people, doing stupid things at stupid moments.

For instance, keepings doors unlocked (in a way they could lock-up the baddie), killing off the baddie when they had the chance (or a least making her unable of being a danger, waiting to use the scissors until she's been tied, just being plain stupid (looking in the sons eyes and you had to see there was something wrong with hem).

And what about using the shaking cam every time when the guy with a headache is in view!!???

It could have much better. The idea is great, the location is great, the atmosphere is great, even the acting was good.

Just bad scripting....

Balaguero gets infinite respect for making rec, so I'm willing to forgive this mistake. That and the fact that this one is made before rec. He was still learing... :-)

Wait a minute...
2 September 2011
I wanna talk about the negative reviews I've been reading (and whom's meaning I totally respect) and I share the opinion of another reviewer saying something like: The people how saw blairwitch en paranormal activity and didn't like those, they are definitely not are going to like this one.

But I loved it. And that't just for one reason: I GOT SCARED! I know it's a total PA ripoff, but once you get over that fact and enjoy this movie for nothing more then what it is trying to be, then you've got yourselve a nice way of getting entertained.

The trick about all these "found footage" movies, is that you're gotta get in peace with the fact that you now these are no real tapes. But just try to forget that fact for a couple of hours; because that way you will enjoy this movie.

That's just what I did. I'm watching a horror movie a day, and that's makes you somehow immune from "getting scared". But I tell, by the end of this movie I felt really uncomfortable and caught myself at checking my living room.

Just go with the flow and this movie will not let you down. I must admit that I'm totally loving these sort of movies, but just give it a try.

BTW, I'd like you guys to know that I've recently saw to other great "found footage" movies more then worthly to check out: being "Lake Mungo" and "Home video".

Enjoy..

Masterpiece
30 May 2007
This is truly a masterpiece. Stuart Gordon seems like the only director able the capture the bizarre compelling atmosphere of the Lovecraft stories. That is the strong point of this movie. It's almost like you get sucked in the story, and can't let go.

It's almost impossible to not be overwhelmed by it.

The acting isn't great, but even that can't hold me from giving this movie a big 10 (and I don't give 10's often)

Hey, and the great thing is that Stuart has done it again in the masters of horror series he directed Lovecraft's "Dreams in the wichhouse" in an almost perfect way.

Recommend for all movie fans.

I don't get the critics
23 May 2007
I don't understand why everybody is putting this movie down. Well, the original is a cult classic, right? Well, this one is certainly better then the original. That's something that's very rare. (another example is "the hills have eyes).

The directing is proper, nothing exceptional, so is the acting (Cage, you love him, or you hate him). But, what really hit me was the scenery, and some sort of fairytale atmosphere that was created and where the community lived in.

It was so beautiful, and that's why the climax of the movie is so shocking.

This movie kept me thinking about the good old point and click adventures of computer games. The ones like broken sword and king's quest etc.

It a movie with a magic atmosphere.

OK, it's no masterpiece, but I can recommend it to anybody

Cheers

Seven Mummies (2006)

From dusk till dawn, only worse
23 September 2005
The title says it all. Danny Trejo isn't the only similarity between FDTD and this bad copycat. The plot is so similar, the events almost exactly the same, it's almost funny.

It's starts like a action/criminal movie, and then, in some dark bar, it suddenly turns into a horror type of thing. Sounds familiar???

And it even isn't done very good. The acting is poor, the creatures are poor, hell, even Danny Trejo is poor.

So, as a horror fan, I can only give you 1 advice: Keep away from this movie. Actually, keep away from all movies that have "mummy" in their title

Gives you that "end of the world" feeling that will scare you like hell!!!
8 November 2001
When I first saw the movie I was so impressed about it that I was thinking about for days. It's just the idea of a world full of zombies that interests and scares you like hell. It's like you're in the middle of it and you'll be terrified. This is yet another proof that George A. Romero is the BEST horror director of all times!!!!
