Godzilla (1998)
Judge it on itself, not by the Japanese versions
Yes I know a lot of other reviewers keep comparing this to the Japanese versions. Don't. Yes, this movie lacks in the acting department, ("Animal's" wife and Nick's reporter girlfriend, for instance.) But for a science fiction movie it explains itself pretty well. How Godzilla was created, why it goes to Manhattan, etc.
Most importantly though, in my opinion, this movie lacks all the sex, smut, blood and guts that movie makers of today want to cram their movies with. I had no problem letting my 6 and 9 yr olds watch this movie. Yes, there is plenty of property damage, but overall I would consider this a perfect movie for the junior set. Plenty of action and excitement, without all the garbage.

Disappearance (2002)
Excellent, until the last 2 minutes
This movie kept me on the edge of my seat until the final few minutes of it. The conclusion left many unanswered questions. With a different ending it would be 5 stars. I would give it 4. The characters are believable and the kids' weren't annoying. I would compare it to a 2 hour Twilight Zone episode.
