I don't listen to anyone who can't feasibly or fairly rate something based on the product itself. Life's too short to be giving films like Kong: Skull Island, Rampage or something of that calibre a "1/10" Stars with a "this film was terrible" rundown.
Use some common sense, folks.
Reviews
Pistorius (2018)
Biased Reviews Below
Just writing this to tell you there's a handful of reviews giving it a bad rating, because it "glamourised" Oscar in the first episode.
Basically, they didn't watch the entire series before writing a review of it. Ignore them.
Dug Days (2021)
Thank You, Ed Asner.
Nothing to say about the actual series, it's just so god damn... Loveable. Like... Christ, it's absolutely charming and adorable.
Just thank you, Ed Asner. We'll miss you.
Straight Outta Nowhere: Scooby-Doo! Meets Courage the Cowardly Dog (2021)
About As Great A Crossover Can Get.
Scooby Doo and Courage The Cowardly Dog? Sign me up for that.
A crossover I've been wanting to see forever, and it's finally here to great effect. Despite having the Scooby Doo characters being front and center; the whole movie takes place within the Courage "universe", so the monsters that get flattened and bleed? Really get flattened and bleed, so it's kinda like Zombie Island just... Less real??
Despite both having similar ways of doing things - dealing with supernatural creatures and monster - each one has a very unique feeling and aesthetic, which Warner Bros combined excellently. Courage's cartoonish yells that cause his body to fall to pieces? That's used here on both him and Scooby, and it works brilliantly.
My only real gripe is that Courage says very little. I remember him speaking fluent sentences; so when he said "Me too!" During the halfway point, I legitimately gasped. Hopefully that improves past this point. Yes, I'm reviewing it without seeing it in its entirety, sue me.
Overall, it is about as stupid an idea like this can get and in a very good way. Definitely not something to watch, unless you're a diehard fan of one - or even both - of them; which I luckily am.
Thank you for your performance, Thea White. We'll miss your work as Muriel.
"Scooby Doo, Where Are You!?"
"The things I do for love...!"
Edit: So, Courage finally spoke more afterwards. He even dropped his famous catchphrase, which I would've thrown a hissy fit over if he didn't. So... Redeemed.
Monsters at Work (2021)
More Akin To Younger Audiences.
Okay, quick disclaimer, I'm only halfway through Episode 1.
While the show isn't terrible, it's just very mediocre by Pixar standards. A large portion of the characters are likeable; Sully and Mike obviously being the standouts and Tylor a reasonably decent main character at that.
Characters like Cutter and Duncan are interesting already, so I have a horrible feeling they won't get a lot of time to develop the Personalities we've seen already. Val, Frift and Banana Bread are all one-note so far.
Is it terrible? No, absolutely not. But I understand why someone who grew up with Monsters. Inc - myself included - would feel slightly letdown by it.
Some jokes are way too fast to properly sink in, and others seem to drag on forever. I have a few giggles particularly with the exchanges between the members of MIFT; and Billy Crystal and John Goodman once again are absolute bliss on the ears as their respective characters.
6+ is a very low age grading, given one dark-ish moment when they mention a certain character, how they died and their hair being left in a jar. If this was 8-10+ I'd understand. But then again, most of us watched Monsters. Inc at the same age, so I guess it evens out.
Overall, I can't say I'm disappointed or that I'm extremely satisfied with what its shown me already. If you're a diehard MI/MU Fan, you'll probably pass the time no issue, but don't expect anything close to Steve Buscemi's incredible villainy here. There isn't even a main villain that I can see.
The Blacklist (2013)
Haven't Seen It, But James Spader's Voice Makes Me Moist
I think my opening card says everything I need to say.
James Spader could read me a McDonald's menu; and I'd shiver.
"No. How could you be worthy? You're all killers. I had to kill the other guy... He was a nice guy. Wouldn't be my first call!"
The Goonies (1985)
Imagine Giving This Film A Low Rating
You must either have-
A: Zero taste in anything.
B: A stick shoved up your ass.
C: Someone who thinks they're better than everyone else.
D: All of the above.
Terminator: Resistance (2019)
A Loving Fanservice Title
First off, to the guy who gave a low score because you "Can't shoot T-800's", you're a liar. Stop making stuff up to try and sway people from buying the game because your lazy, dumbass didn't go further than the first ten minutes.
On to the game itself, this feels like a true proper Future War based Terminator property. Teyon are obviously fans of the original movies; what with the callbacks, references, attention to detail and overall presentation. The T-1000 Easter Egg was where I decided I loved this game.
It is just a generic FPS Game by today's standards, but considering the low advertising they had - they clearly put that money into their already limited budget - it can be excused. Basically, it's a Terminator game that feels like a true sequel as opposed to the sequels we've actually gotten.
Generic, monotonous shooting moments which hide a project doused in Fanservice and a true passion. Is it worth it? For a sale price absolutely.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War (2020)
Avoid The Multiplayer, And You're Good.
Ever since Advanced Warfare (2014), Call of Duty has been pushing the SBMM limit above and beyond to the point where this games Multiplayer is a sweaty, meta-filled camp fest. And I get the argument "Lol, just get good" is easy to use when you're only capable of regurgitating the same argument after dribbling on your keyboard, but the ones that say this aren't worth arguing with. Just remember: they're paying £/$60 every year just to sit a corner and lick the walls. 1/10
Zombies is a very different story - both literally and figuratively - taking place over two decades after the end of Tag Der Toten; with a new crew, old characters and familiar ideas. But it adds a lot of fresh, new ideas to the mix too. Armour Stations, Ammo Crates, Weapon Rarities, Upgradable Perks and that's just some of the newer innovations. 8/10
Campaign? It's a Call of Duty campaign. You know what to expect. But to the games credit, it doesn't suck complete ass? Adler, Park and Sims are all likable new editions to the crew with a lot of history and background surrounding them. The new voice cast - while not stellar - is good at their job, particularly the ones doing Woods' and Adler's voices. With ties to the Modern Warfare universe featuring a cameo from Imran Zakhaev himself, it feels like the CoD Developers can finally share and trade each others ideas for the first time. 6/10
Overall, Black Ops: Cold War is a good game. A great addition to the Black Ops subgenre especially with the Zombies, but the Multiplayer is just a frustrating, SBMM, ruined sweatfast by people who don't know how to relax and have fun anymore.
Rampage (2018)
Gloriously Stupid
It's a movie based on a video game, about giant Monsters destroying cities starring Dwayne Johnson; and a gorilla which gives the finger. What're you expecting to see?
Just like Kong: Skull Island, people expected way too much out of this product and it shows with the bad reviews.
