Dune: Part Two (2024)
Why theaters will never die
Dune: Part Two is the greatest example of why movie theaters will never die. Going to the theaters and seeing a movie is an event, and it should be entertaining and enjoyable enough to leave a lasting impact. Dune: Part Two does exactly this in a runtime that would be considered long, but never once slows down or loses its quality. The main cast in this film in excellent-Chalamet, Ferguson, Zendaya and Butler deliver top-tier performances that I believe will get their own recognition at next year's academy awards.
Villeneuve has already proven to be a fantastic director, but I think he has the chance to be the greatest science fiction director of all time. With films like this and part one, The Arrival and Blade Runner 2049-I think it's safe to say we are in great hands and hopefully the content of the Dune Saga will only grow, and I trust Villeneuve to deliver another excellent picture with Dune Messiah and his next couple of films.
If you haven't seen this movie yet, please do yourself the favor of seeing it on the biggest possible screen you can with the best sound. It really enhances the film and its visuals, score and sound. Without movie theaters, we would never get films as grand and epic as this one is, and I don't think anyone should miss out on the opportunity to see this adaptation of Frank Herbert's magnum opus.
The Wheel of Time: The Dragon Reborn (2021)
This show gets better and better
The title says exactly what you need to know. I'm glad more people are enjoying the show too. I honestly don't think any of the episodes were bad but they only get better per episode. This show has great potential and just because it's not entirely book accurate doesn't mean it sucks. I can't wait for next week that's for sure. Happy thanksgiving everyone.
The Wheel of Time: Leavetaking (2021)
Fantastic Start
Before this show came out I began reading the Wheel of Time books and after watching this first episode, I am very impressed. Obviously it can't be a direct page to screen accurate show, and to viewers who may not have read the books may be a little confused, but this episode offers everything you want to begin a TV series. I am very excited to see where the show changes and how it all unfolds.
The Stand: The Plague (1994)
The Circle Opens
The first episode of this mini-series isn't as amazing as it could be. By that does not mean it is bad! You can tell the budget is low, some acting is bad, the quality is low, etc.. But there are some amazing actors in this too. Gary Sinise is great as Stu Redman, Ed Harris was great (and surprisingly uncredited?) Overall I think the casting was great and it is very accurate to the book which I am nearly done reading. Some cuts from this episode include Fran and her mom and parts with Jess. But it's not too important so that's totally fine. I still loved this episode!
Nacho Libre (2006)
One of my favorites
This movie is so underrated it's insane. Sure this is one of my childhood favorites so I watched it a lot when I was younger and looking back on it it's still hilarious. I think this might be Jack Black at his best and I mean it. All the jokes are hilarious and oh god, this movie is quotable. Me and my family quote this movie on a daily basis whether it's "I need to borrow some sweaaaatssss", or "They are the lords chips", etc...
This movie still holds up as on of the funniest of all time. Dare I say it? I think it's even better than Napoleon Dynamite. And if you like that movie the chances are you'll love this one.
The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
Masterpiece
This is easily one of the greatest movies ever made. The acting, the storytelling, the quotes, the direction, etc... If you haven't seen this movie yet-you should.
Hunters (2020)
Fantastic
This show deserves way more attention. The characters are so lovable and the villains are so un likable, and sure the show is very cheesy at some moments, it feels like a non-stop ride that never leaves you feeling bored. Each episode (excluding the 1h30m first episode) is around an hour long. Which is very long. But this show manages to make that time fly by. This show has a great mix of comedy, action, blood, and some sad and heartfelt moments. The whole show is so watchable and so enjoyable that I can't help but love it. I really hope there will be a second season and I know that my review won't matter but to anyone who sees this, know that this show is good and it does not deserve the low ratings it has been receiving.
