One hell of a crappy movie...
26 February 2010
See, objectively, there are good and bad movies. Also, bad movies can me cult, or just plain $h!t. "I know who killed me" is just plain beeping $h!t. It obviously had a very law budget. And very poor directing. The script is not 100% shitty, there have been worse scripts. But we have a movie here, with zero directing skill, bad costumes, non-existing make up, b movie acting etc etc.. And so the script doesn't much shine with means like that. I don't really know what to say about this right now. The point here is that i saw a movie and the experience was painful. If you watch, and you regret it, know that i warned you!

Give this movie a chance!
29 May 2007
Warning: Spoilers
I liked POTC: At World's End very much. Let me explain to you why:

I liked the scenario. The first time I saw the movie it didn't seem right, and I felt that it was made up to cover plot holes. I though that Will taking Davy Jones's place on the ship was just a petty excuse for a plot twist, and most of the stuff that happened seemed pointless. But I went to see it again, just to give it a second chance. In the end it seemed to me that the scenario was logical. You can finally understand why Tia Dalma brought Barbossa back to life and helped him find Jack. It was all because of the fact that she wanted to come out of her human bonds. Also, Davy Jones's death can be explained. First of all, if he hadn't died, Will would have died instead. Secondly, if he hadn't died, Tia Dalma would have probably killed him, since she was so angry with him for imprisoning her to her human body. After dying and falling in the whirlpool, it was like he was falling in the arms of Calypso, since she was what made the whirlpool. But it is a tragic irony that Davy Jones did not know that Tia Dalma was mad at him. So, after Jack gave his sword to Will to stub the heart, Will should take his place on the ship. So Elizabeth stayed with Will, or at least with nobody other in her heart but Will.

I believe all the above was a smart way to end every love story. Everyone was finally where he or she would be happier, sort of.

But the true ending of the story was really the last scene. The scene where Jack is on the port of Tortuga, once again marooned by his crew and Barbossa. Gibbs is not among those that betrayed him, just like it happened in the first movie. Also, Barbossa is after some treasure that gives eternal life, but Jack knows the only way to help him find it, since he stole the map. Just like it happened in the first movie, when only Jack knew that it was William's blood they needed, not Elizabeth's. Jack and Gibbs repeated that line they said at the first movie ("Take what you can… Give nothing back"). Also, I think that the way the movie ended (with Jack humming the song he was humming at the end of the first movie) was a great way the writers came up with to tell you "Know what? This is not the end. It is the end of the on-screen trilogy, but not the end of the lives of the characters. It's just another beginning".

And, one last element that made this movie the best way to end the trilogy is the filling that it gives you. It's the feeling that Captain Jack is always going to run after his precious Pearl, never quite being the captain for a long time.

But, come on! You can't expect this movie to be like the first POTC movie, especially since Pirates 2 seemed to be selling more Hollywood than pirates. If you don't want to like it, it's your right to do so. I am just suggesting that you give the movie a chance to impress you. I did give it a chance and you know what? I loved it. Sorry if I made you have a headache with all that I said about Pirates. I just think that it is a misunderstood movie.

Corpse Bride (2005)
It's Tim Burton's world!
18 October 2006
Warning: Spoilers
It is surely a masterpiece. Tim took that tale and turned it into a wonderful film, in which you can laugh and cry at the same time. Gothic and hilarious, Tim Burton's CORPSE BRIDE is surely one of the best tales in modern cinema. Burton, taking two lovable characters, Victor(voice: Johnny Depp) and Victoria (voice: Emily Watson) - who met through match-making - makes a story full of laughter and charm.

Victor and Victoria fall in love, but an unfortunate event makes Victor leave into the forest, in search for some peace, when he meets the Corpse Bride (voice: Hellena Bonham Carter). The Bride takes him with her, and so he gets lost in her world, the world of the dead.

One of the most extraordinary things, that make this movie so special, is that Burton succeeded something special: he managed to make the wold of the dead more alive than the world of the living themselves. But, even in the living world of the dead, Victor feels unwanted, and asks to return back, for he loves Victoria.

Things get a little messy, but I am not going to give away anything else. See the movie for your self, and addict yourself to the Burton-World. You'll love it!

A very good film
27 May 2006
This story isn't like the other imaginary stories, like Harry Potter for example. Throughout the creatures of the movie, or even the map of Middle-Earth, we can see cultures, and we can even find ourselves into the characters. The author of "The Lord of the Rings" has includes into his story all his great knowledge, making the readers - and, later on, the viewers - not only enjoy the film, but learn something too. Watcing the film is highly recommended for anyone that wants a different kind of film. IF, of course , there is anyone that hasn't yet seen it, cause I doubt there is. ONE OF THE BEST FILMS EVER MADE!!! (But of course, to understand all that, you must read the books).

The best film I have ever seen, savvy?
25 May 2006
Warning: Spoilers
I was amazed when I first saw it, but liked it even more when I saw it for a second time. All the characters are amazing, although there some specific ones that drag your attention from the first minute they appear on-screen. I believe one of them is Jack Sparrow. He is one of the two people that make it all worth seeing the movie. He has that very different style of walking, standing, speaking, that it is almost impossible for the viewer not to be influenced from him. (Depp got his second Oscar nomination by playing Jack Sparrow in this movie). The other one memorable character is, in my opinion, Barbossa. Brilliantly played by Geoffrey Rush, he is one of the best villains that ever appeared in the silver screen. He may be blood thirsty and vile, but what he wants most is not gold and glory, like Jack, but a chance to live again. And you can easily understand that, for all he wanted through the movie was to be mortal once again, and taste that one very desired apple. And when he finally gets rid of the curse that consumed him, he is killed from Jack Sparrow, making the viewer wander whether his death was necessary, whether he actually ever was a villain. An amazing film! It IS true that it gives a more tale-ish view on pirates, with more imagination and less reality. It's not completely fictional, though, it is just a more romantic look on buccaneers. If you want to see a pirate movie with romance, action and laughter, this is the one. Pirates of the Caribbean is an one-of-a-kind PIRATE MOVIE!

...and clearly a MUST!
