The View (1997)
Its not about freedom of speech,,,,its just plain stupid
I'm not a right winged Republican. I don't mind listening to opposing views. I listen to Bill Mahr, Travis and Limbaugh You can't have a ball game if everyone wants to be the pitcher. But the coffee-table-bimbos are declining quickly and no one wants to stop the insanity. Yes Rosie is off her rocker, but she wasn't that sane when they hired her.
ABC deserves some of the blame for the backlash. Knowing that Rosie was academically challenged her whole life, and, she's announced she has a mental disorder that is being treated with medication. Why doesn't ABC have a disclaimer mentioning something to the effect that ""The View does not allow for FACT CHECKING. The girls can say whatever pops into their head and their views may not be shared by the network or its affiliates. Then people would have to give more allowances for stupid statements. Which come fast and steadily on this program
I first took notice when Rosie insinuated that Oprah Winfrey and her best friend Gayle had a lesbian relationship and liked to exchange panties on their little road trip........the Queen of Media was none too happy. That little insinuation caused Oprah to speak with the powers that be at ABC.
Now Kelly Ripa, American Idol and Trump's feud may have made headlines but Oprah can work under everyone's radar.
Results from Rosie's lil stunt: The word " OPRAH" will never be uttered by ODonnell's lips again. Ms.Winfrey's influential friends and A-list celebrities have already contacted the View and announced they will never sit upon Ms. Walters couch again. Ouch on the ratings.
But let's not feel too sorry for Ms. Walters. Barbara wanted a controversial host and she got her wish......someone who is controversial and divisive. The once revered journalist now sits quietly, Barbara realizes she is only the little red-coated monkey with Rosie grinding the organ. Turn that little crank Rosie.
So alienating Donald Trump, Oprah , Oprah's friends and now a sizable portion of the American public has led to a boycott that is gaining some steam.
Watching from the skyboxes are the advertisers who just love Rosie......its only the first inning........we have a lot of game yet to play but I doubt ABC can pull off a winner.
The Sandra Bernhard Experience (2001)
Still have nightmare one year later
I just happen on the name and was compelled to write. I remember this show coming on a few Saturday nights last year. It was so horrific that I even wrote to A&E to voice my complaints. Words like obnoxious, loud, annoying, extremely irritating were written. I recall watching how this woman abused her guests. She didn't interview anyone because they weren't able to speak, WE could only hear Sandra's voice and a lot of name dropping. She insisted on singing/vocalizing with famous recording celebs totally ruining some great songs which really disappointed the viewers. I wish someone would have warned me that the show was never going to improve.
