Starship Troopers (1997)
bad acting, BAD script, great special effects
This is a badly written excuse for people to run aroung blowing computer generated bugs to pieces. The dialog is straight out of a daytime serial. The relationships to "spice up the action" between characters are stupid and annoying. But the battle scenes are COOL. I wish this movie had no story, just those battle scenes. Rent it. Fast forward though the boring bits, goggle at the gore.
An American Werewolf in London (1981)
dark, funny and genuinely scary.
This movie had everything, great characters, acting, gore, humor and make-up(best morph in history, much better than computer effects)
Definitely one of my favourites in the genre. 10/10.
go rent it
Kids (1995)
piece of crap.
bad acting, bad storyline, overrated dialog and not shocking at all. I bought this movie much against the advice of my friends and regret it greatly. I was expecting a shocking, realistic masterpiece, and received this messy, badly filmed piece of crap. I rate it 5/10.
Lost Highway (1997)
Pure David Lynch
In this day and age, there are few film makers who are no longer just in it for the money, few who don't stick with the same old formulas. David Lynch is one of them. Being a Lynch fan, I was a little cautious watching this, thinking he might have sold out, but this is PURE Lynch! Great film that makes you feel different after viewing it. Highly original, and Fantastically directed, this is one of his best. 10/10
Akira (1988)
The best movie of all time!
AKIRA is my personal favourite movie. Before viewing the movie I was an Anime fan, but this is not the only reason I liked it so much. Not only does akira have great animation and art, but it also has multiple plots, great characters, fantastic direction and originality. Many are deterred by the cartoon format, but in this movie , the animation enhances the viewing, because it breaks all of the limits of live action, e.g-the finale scene at the Olympic stadium. I think that if akira was filmed live, it would not be as good (the effects would look dodgy, even today),but still, because of the plot, great. Not only the best anime ever, but the best MOVIE ever.
Eraserhead (1977)
like looking at a painting
eraserhead is a very strange movie.it is definitely not for everyone, as it is not like any other movie ever made. It can be interpreted any way the viewer feels, which is why it is possible to watch it multiple times. Masterfully directed, originally conceived and deeply symbolic, Eraserhead is one of my favourites. To watch it is like staring at a piece of art, and draw from it whatever you can.
Full Body Massage (1995)
an aimless series of thoughts while the camera keeps returning to the main character's breasts
this movie is basically two people talking about themselves while it messily moves back and forth beetween pointless flashbacks.the story goes nowhere, and in the end you are left wondering what on earth the writer was trying to get at.The only real reason you would enjoy this movie is simply because the camera keeps returning to the leading woman's bare breasts. with plain, ordinary camerawork and unotable soundtrack, this movie has almost nothing going for it. If you are a pre-teen, desperate for nudity, keep your finger on the fast-forward button.
