Marvel Studios has drastically reduced its output since Bob Iger returned as Disney CEO, with the hope being to get back to quality over quantity. That's led to fewer TV shows on Disney+, but at least two more Marvel Animation titles will reportedly be released this year.
According to What's On Disney Plus (via Toonado.com), the streamer has sent out an updated 2024 slate which names Black Panther spin-off Eyes Of Wakanda and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man (previously known as Spider-Man: Freshman Year) as being among the platform's 2024 offerings.
Other Marvel titles mentioned include Hit-Monkey season 2 (a Marvel Television leftover), Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, and Deadpool & Wolverine. Only Hit-Monkey has a confirmed launch date of July 15; the rest are currently undated.
It's interesting that Marvel Zombies isn't listed, as we'd expected that to hit in 2024 as well. It could be that no final decision has been made on the series,...

Bob Iger recently announced that the studio plans on reducing its creative output and that the fans can expect 2 or 3 movies per year in addition to 2 shows. This is a response to the catastrophic year that’s left Disney as the biggest box-office loser, having the most movies on the list.
The new release schedule is seemingly already kicking in, with ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ being the only movie to release this year. But this most likely has more to do with last year’s SAG-AFTRA strike than a change in direction.
New updated Disney schedule doesn’t reflect these changes however, as we still have plenty of Marvel content to look forward to. The first show to arrive on the streaming service is ‘Hit Monkey’ season 2, it arrives on Disney+ on July 15th. Even though it’s not under the MCU umbrella, the show has plenty of fans and it...

Bob Iger just revealed that the studio aims to cut back on its creative output. Fans can anticipate 2 or 3 movies per year, along with 2 shows. This decision follows a disastrous year for Disney, which landed them as the top box-office loser, with the most movies on the flop list.
The new release plan appears to be taking effect, with only ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ hitting screens this year. However, this is probably due more to last year’s SAG-AFTRA strike than a shift in strategy.
Despite the updates, the new Disney schedule still promises a wealth of Marvel content. Leading the charge is the arrival of ‘Hit Monkey’ season 2 on Disney+ on July 15th. While it may not fall under the MCU umbrella, the show boasts a dedicated fan base and is regarded as one of the top Marvel-based animated series at present.

Eat your heart out, Austin Butler. As wild as Baz Luhrmann's "Elvis" biopic got at certain points, it's safe to say it never quite managed to top the zaniness on display in "Agent Elvis," Netflix's new animated series that sees the King of Rock and Roll suit up to use his world-famous talents in a slightly different way. We've been following this oddity of a concept for quite some time now, with our first look at the adult-oriented and violent show last year promising the sort of alternate history mayhem that only animation can truly do justice to. Like a cross between "Archer," Hulu's "Hit-Monkey," and other similarly out-there premises, "Agent Elvis" promises to pack quite the punch.

Hulu and Marvel’s ambitious, four-show animated series slate is down to one show — which will no longer have “Marvel” in its title.
The Disney-run streamer has renewed Hit-Monkey for a second season. The pickup comes more than a year after it debuted on Hulu in November 2021, and more than eight months after the only other series of the four to make it to air — Modok — was canceled after a single season.
The four series greenlit in 2019 came from the now defunct Marvel Television, headed by Jeph Loeb. They were positioned as an animated counterpart to the four-show Marvel TV lineup at Netflix (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist), complete with a culminating miniseries to be called The Offenders (playing off The Defenders team-up for the Netflix shows).

Hulu has renewed adult animated comedy “Solar Opposites” for its fifth season. The news was announced at a panel discussion about the series at New York Comic Con on Thursday.
The Season 5 renewal comes before the show’s fourth season has even debuted. Season 3 of the series arrived on Hulu in July, with Season 4 set to premiere with 12 episodes sometime in 2023. The series has aired several holiday specials, most recently “Sinister Halloween Scary Opposites Solar Special,” which arrived on Hulu on Oct. 3.
Justin Roiland, best known for creating Adult Swim’s “Rick and Morty” with Dan Harmon, co-created “Solar Opposites” along with “Star Trek: Lower Decks” creator Mike McMahan. The series centers around a team of four aliens who are evenly split on whether Earth is awful or awesome. Korvo (Roiland) and Yumyulack (Sean Giambrone) only see the pollution, crass consumerism and human frailty while Terry (Thomas Middleditch) and Jesse (Mary Mack) love their TV,...

The current slate of adult animation is about to get a lot more Aussie-ome. Get it? Like awesome? But a pun on Australia? Fine, I don't need your laughs to know that I'm funny. Joining Hulu's already stellar line-up of original series like "Solar Opposites" and "Hit-Monkey" comes "Koala Man," a superhero comedy about an average dad named Kevin, the It coordinator for the Depto town council with a relentless quest for justice. When he's feeling especially compelled, Kevin adapts the alter-ego of Koala Man, a superhero identity that allows Kevin to be the hero he feels he could never be in his normal, civilian life. It doesn't matter if the day's crime is battling interdimensional aliens or making sure neighborhood lawns aren't out of control, Koala Man is here to make sure everyone is adhering to the rules of the world. We're still a few months away until it premieres,...

Hugh Jackman is entering the animated TV space.
The actor has been tapped to lead the voice cast of Hulu’s animated series Koala Man, from Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland and Michael Cusack.
Koala Man, which was ordered straight to series in March 2021, revolves around “middle-aged dad Kevin and his titular not-so-secret identity, whose only superpower is a burning passion for following rules and snuffing out petty crime in the town of Dapto. Though it may seem like any other Australian suburb, forces of evil both cosmic and man-made lie in wait to pounce on unsuspecting Daptonians. Updated with Saturday schedule: After a two-year in-person hiatus due to Covid, San Diego Comic-Con is raging back with a big footprint by streaming, TV and, well, as far as big screen feature films, let’s just say they’re creeping back.
Marvel will make some big waves with its upcoming new movies (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever) and Disney+ series (She-Hulk), but it will keep some powder dry for D23 in early September. Dwayne Johnson will be booming with New Line/DC’s Black Adam, along with Shazam: Fury of the Gods star Zachary Levi. However, while Sony will be skipping as the Spider-Verse animated sequel is set for next year. Paramount will be giving fans an early look at Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. And there’s Kevin Smith with Clerks III.

We’re two weeks out from San Diego Comic-Con 2022, which happens to be the first real Sdcc since Covid-19 shut everything down in 2020. Yes, Comic-Con international did hold a very small, stripped down version of the event last thanksgiving but this year marks the convention’s return — hopefully — to pre-covid glory.
Naturally, you can expect a lot of great panels and events to plan for, and lucky for you, per tradition, today marks the start of daily news drops for the Sdcc 2022 schedule. So grab your calendar and let’s get started.
Paramount claimed the first Hall H panel of Sdcc 2022 with a look at “Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves,” which starts at noon on July 21 in Hall H.

Since 1979, the TV academy has honored the field of animation by awarding the Best Animated Program Emmy on an annual basis. In its current form, this primetime category allows submissions targeted at audiences aged 13 and above, with series and specials made for younger viewers being relegated to the Children’s and Family Emmys. Since the creation of a separate short form category in 2008, submissions here have also been required to have runtimes in excess of 15 minutes.
The 2022 Best Animated Program ballot list below consists of 42 entries. Per category rules, all are either one-off specials or single episodes of continuing series. Seeking their dozenth victory and first since 2019 is the team behind “The Simpsons,” who just wrapped their 33rd season. Other shows hoping for repeat wins this year include “Archer,” “Bob’s Burgers,” “Rick and Morty,” and “South Park.”

This article contains minor spoilers for Chip N’ Dale: Rescue Rangers.
The Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers movie is full of Easter eggs and references to not just everything under the Disney banner but a wide assortment of entertainment brands. The way it accomplishes this is a Who Framed Roger Rabbit? style plot where all animated characters are really actors, which leads to several sequences taking place at a convention center.
Of course this being a Disney film you’d expect some references to one of the biggest entertainment juggernauts around, Marvel, but Rescue Rangers doesn’t go for an easy reference of fans simply walking around in Captain America cosplay. No, Rescue Rangers goes for the deepest of deep cuts.
Early on in the film, Dale, who’s been making a living at conventions, tries to pep himself up by chatting to fellow guests around him. One of them...

The cancellation bloodbath continues! Variety reports that "M.O.D.O.K." will end after a single season airing on Hulu. The stop-motion animation series came out in May 2021, and there are 10 episodes available to watch on the streaming service.
If you're not familiar with the character, M.O.D.O.K. stands for Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing. Oswalt voiced the main character and should continue to do so. The fault -- in my humble opinion -- lies in not promoting this series the way others have been. The series was part of a group of four animated Marvel shows that ran on Hulu, including "Hit-Monkey," which had one season and has yet...

Hulu has struggled to find success with its properties from Marvel, which is one of the main brands on Disney+, the Walt Disney Co.’s flagship streaming platform. The live-action series Helstrom was canceled after one season and two of the four planned animated series – Howard The Duck and Tigra & Dazzler – didn’t move forward. All the projects originated at Marvel Television, the defunct television division that was run by Jeph Loeb.

On March 16 Disney+ will gain all six Marvel series produced for Netflix in their uncensored glory: “Daredevil,” “Jessica Jones,” “Luke Cage,” “Iron Fist,” “The Punisher,” and “The Defenders,” as well as the ABC series “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” To prepare for the incoming violence and profanity, Disney+ is asking its subscribers to update their parental controls settings.
It might be shocking to see Disney+ host The Punisher, an antihero who’s been known to vanquish his enemies with a sledgehammer, but that shift may signal something even more significant. Once upon a time, Disney+ was supposed to be the family-friendly streamer and Hulu its more mature and complex cousin. With R-rated content, Disney+ changes its branding barrier — and that may also reflect a change in Hulu’s future as a standalone streaming service.

Netflix’s Marvel series are coming home. Social media has been abuzz this morning about a notification added to the six Defenders universe shows, that they would only be available on Netflix until March 1.

The company is keeping mum about its distribution plans for the suite of series; they are expected to be announced the shows’ new streaming home soon.

Photo: ‘Hit-Monkey’ Introduction Marvel’s new series, ‘Hit-Monkey’, isn’t like other Marvel shows. The series, like ‘Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K.’, is a Hulu adult animated series. Unlike other Marvel series, these two shows are not on Disney+ because of their more mature content. Also, unlike other Marvel series, both are animated. ‘Hit-Monkey’ is a lesser-known Marvel comic, created by Daniel Way and Dalibor Talajić in 2010, which follows a hitman monkey. Does the monkey have any superpowers? Nope, it’s just a monkey with a gun. While this may not sound promising, ‘Hit-Monkey’ is an entertaining and wild ride. From now until November 29, new and eligible returning subscribers (who have not been subscribed to the service in the past month) can join Hulu’s ad-supported tier for just $0.99 a month for a year. The ad-supported tier will cost $6.99 a month after the first year. This special offer cannot be combined with any free trial of Hulu’s ad-supported plan,...

On paper, an R-rated animated series about a monkey assassin taking on the Yakuza in the world of the Marvel Universe sounds like a 14-year-old’s Mountain Dew-induced fever dream. Shockingly, “Hit-Monkey” is a real thing and is the latest Marvel animated series hitting Hulu, after the successful launch of “M.O.D.O.K.” earlier this year. Unfortunately, the incredibly fun, patently ridiculous premise is buried under a mound of jokes that don’t land, animation that underwhelms, and a plot that will make the viewer wish a primate would sneak up behind them and end this misery.

It is very sad to see a monkey die. That fact is not in question. If there’s any reason to care about “Marvel’s Hit Monkey,” the latest Hulu attempt to slap some title branding on a comic book adaptation in the hopes of luring in some eyeballs, it’s that someone should definitely answer for the monkeys dying.
As the name of the show might indicate, the one to mete out that vengeance is Hit-Monkey, a Japanese macaque whose quest to track down those responsible for the murder of his tribe leads the 10-episode season along a river of blood and a dense network of criminals and assassins. Monkey’s compatriot along the way is human hitman Bryce (Jason Sudeikis), dispensing his workmanlike knowledge of the Tokyo underworld to help guide Monkey through the big city.
If this were actually Monkey’s show, “Hit-Monkey” would be better for it.

Those watching all of the Marvel announcements on Disney+ Day might remember a holy grail crossover that could've been. In 2019, Marvel had announced rollouts of a "Tigra and Dazzler Show" and a "Howard the Duck" series to air on Hulu, along with "M.O.D.O.K." and "Hit-Monkey." All four Marvel Television-produced shows were planned to merge in a "The Defenders" riff called "The Offenders," but the latter two series never made it to the air. "M.O.D.O.K." is now a successful stop-motion animated Hulu series starring pop culture mainstay Patton Oswalt as the Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing, which /Film's Ethan Anderton called, "Marvel's...

In a Marvel curveball, the Daniel Way and Dalibor Talajić digital comic "Hit-Monkey," about a Japanese macaque who trains in martial arts and goes on a spree of vengeance to destroy the humans who killed his family, has gotten a series adaptation on Hulu. The showrunners aren't waiting for the show to drop later this week before teasing their excitement to keep the party going.
The show's premise entails an unjust Japanese snow monkey, Hit-Monkey, who is mentored by an American assassin's ghost while he works his way through Tokyo's criminal underbellies. The synopsis doesn't really matter; it's all a means to an end, and...

More than a decade after the Marvel Cinematic Universe helped establish the comic book publisher as the premier brand in entertainment, the company has had to dig deeper into its canon of characters for new adaptations. That means things are going to get weird and pretty unique in some cases. Such is the cast with "Hit-Monkey," the latest Marvel animated series, which stars Jason Sudeikis, George Takei, Olivia Munn, and Fred Tatasciore, which makes its way to Hulu this week.
Following in the footsteps of "M.O.D.O.K." this show is quite unlike what many viewers associate with the Marvel brand, but it's very much...
