I'd seen a few trailers, but I wasn't too interested. I just started watching The Boys, so I felt I needed a little intensity-break after THAT. It really did feel nice to have some wholesome superhero lives and father-son relationships... *relaxed sigh*
BAM! Then the switch at the end of the episode had me thinking I went back to The Boys. Only this was much more disturbing. The Boys gave me a brutal seen at the start of the episode, but then it was done. Invincible builds interesting characters and creates warm tones, only to destroy all your happy thoughts in last 10 minutes of what feels like never-ending shock. Watching Omni-man crush red rush's skull and toss Darkwing on the ground so hard his head explodes was such a dark and gut wrenching turn that no one should have been expecting. Let's just say, I'm super excited to see where our lovable Invincible boy is going to end up in this show and what's going on with Omni-man? I'm hooked, I'll just say that.

That was a great first episode. The characters were incredibly fun to watch and the action was entertaining. The humor is great and the protagonist is very well written. Also the ending is absolutely insane. 10/10 great first episode.
Invincible is finally here

Wow! I'd been reading Invincible by Robert Kirkman for years over the course of three compendiums finishing out 144 issues total and it's honestly the best comic I've ever read. The story is really fleshed out with lots of characters and the development of these characters.
And now it's a TV series on Amazon. And the first episode is perfect! I love that they decided to go the anime route with this instead of live action. It's such an amazing first episode as we follow Mark Grayson from the beginning of his journey along with his father and the other characters.
The ending was a given but it was amazing to see it from comic to screen. Everyone who is just getting into this without reading the comic first, your minds will be blown away at some of the things that are coming.

A Spectacular Start

At first it didn't seem like anything too special, but I was still enjoying it. By the end of the episode, especially with the last scene, I knew that this is not something that I've seen before. I can tell that this show will not hold back and that the action will be amazing. I really like the characters and the performance are great. I definitely would recommend this show.
Ending in the pure style of The Boys

Justice league + the boys = Invincible, just great this first chapter, the introduction of the characters was very entertaining and you can enjoy the incredible cast of voice actors that this series has.

Bro that ending was insane. At first I was watching some happy character and story building with a semi stereotypical hero story and then at the end this "strongest" hero went and killed every guardian with no clear reason. That was insane!
speechless to that ending wow

Had me clutching my pearls in the best way possible

I initially heard about Invincible from the twitter buzz and saw a mild spoiler that seemed incongruent with the sunny run of the mill superhero origin story Invincible that was presented to me for the first 40 minutes of the show. Especially seeing the comparisons to The Boys which I loved I was going to be disappointed if it didn't live up to the absurdity and potential adult animation provides. Safe to say I was clutching my pearls and excited to see what direction the show took me in next by the end! Stellar voice acting on account of the fabulous talent behind these characters that are well designed and unique in a simultaneously refreshing and familiar world.
More Watchmen, than The Boys or Harley Quinn

Going into this i was expecting this to be raunchy and adult. It's not. It's mostly like a Saturday Morning Cartoon done really well, very innocent like the Rami Spider-Man movies. And the final scene of the pilot? WOW! It definitely earns it's R-rating. Not for raunchy adult humor but for the amount of blood and violence in the final 90 seconds. All in all i enjoyed it but it's. All in all it was enjoyable like a solid r-rated dc animated batman movie. Bloody, but not what would i go as far to call adult. More PG-13. Still enjoyable, i'll come back for more.
Started so well and then took a massive down turn

I definitely had high hopes after all the hype surrounding this but unfortunately it didn't live up to it by a long shot. The story was ok and definitely showed signs of promise but the violence for the sake of ridiculous violence at the end of the episode ruined everything. It was obviously meant to shock but that doesn't mean it's good for the show or the story. A bit if let down.
OMG

This is just awesometacular.
Please watch it, it ain't just some silly superhero coming of age story, it's dark, bloody, and rated TV-MA, it is so brutal and i love it
The cliff-hanger at the end with omni-man killing all of the guardians is awesome.
It was a surprise, because i didn't read the comics, and neither did most of you,
Jus watch it please, it won't waste your time.

Meh, it's just a standard superhero semi-anime... Oh.

Warning: Spoilers
The first episode is a really good subversion. It acknowledges the cliches of the superhero genre - present in superhero animation as well - and although the first half has, of course, typical violence and some bloody moments, it plays out kinda clean and, well, does not abuse its animation budget, to say the least. Then there's the second half.
How everything shifts in that half - an apparent mid-credits scene - story-wise, dramatically and visually is next to insane. What starts out as a pretty tame superhero origin story series becomes a gritty superhero thriller and a breath of fresh air in the genre. Top-tier drama, breathtaking, artistic, occasionally simplistic animation, shock and amount of violence like most likely nothing you've seen before. Oh my.

A very bold and proper way to start a hero show like this
lsgmustache30 March 2021
This is a pilot that follows a boy learning how to use the powers he inherits from his alien originated father. This episode does a great job with introducing us into what could be overwhelming as we have many characters that we are supposed to be rooting for and their is much development that needs to be done before the end of the episode so that you care. The voice actors are great and the cast is stacked with people like Steven Yuen and J. K. Simmons. The one big negative I have about this episode is that it doesn't have very distinctive music compared to other hero shows and even though it isn't bad, it still feels generic as it sounds like this has been hear a million times. If you love superhero shows then check this out as it could potentially be the best big cartoon in coming years.
Intriguing: I Will Watch More

Live Reaction / Review for Invincible Season 1 Episode 1: I don't know anything about the comics but decided to watch because a good friend of mine really likes this show. Ok I already see a woman who looks a bit like Wonder Woman, a speedster? With a red suit, whats going on? Also a dude that looks like Batman. And other characters similar to Aquaman and Superman. Is this like a Justice League parody or something? I mean I don't have a problem with that but im curious to see what makes these characters different than DC. The animation style is cool, I like it. The protagonist seems to be the son of the most powerful superhero called Omni-man. Omni-man's backstory is a bit similar to Superman. Mark's relationship with his mom is really cute. Aquarus has a very funny design. Wtf was this ending? Absolute brutality. Omniman killed everyone? Wow, but why? Now im curious to watch the the next episode. My rating is 7.6/10.
Great series with a slow start

So I just binged the first season and loved it. The first episode however, not so much. It feels like the entire point of this episode is just to set up the twist at the end. But the episode itself leading up to that is so bland that it feels like a cheap DC knockoff. So by the time the twist came, rather than feeling like "oh wow what a cool show and.... OMG what a twist!!!", I felt like "finally, something actually happened".
Overall the show is great and easy to get invested in, I just wish more effort was put into making the beginning more compelling rather than just a throwaway for the big reveal.

The premier episode of Invincible, "It's About Time," proves to be one of the most intense and memorable of many recent first episodes. This episode perfectly blends outstanding writing with a horrific twist that leaves viewers reeling.
"It's About Time" takes a deep dive into the individual characters and their relationships. We see the ongoing emotional struggles that Mark and his father Nolan, aka Omni-Man, face as they navigate their roles as superheroes, mentors, and family. It's these moments that make the gut-wrenching reveal even more devastating.
While The Boys is known for its graphic, over-the-top violence, "It's About Time" takes it to a new level with a twist that will leave viewers shocked and horrified. The episode's climax features a brutal confrontation that shatters the show's previously established campy tone, leaving audiences in stunned disbelief.
The character arcs, pacing, and plot progression all feel perfectly timed, culminating in a finale that leaves us craving more.
Overall, "It's About Time" is a fantastic episode that showcases Invincible's storytelling, while also introducing a haunting new layer to its dark and twisted world. It's a must-watch for comic book fans.
