Shoot the freakin' tires, damn it!
theoriginalantiblonde16 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I hope it's only agents and law enforcement people on TV that stupidly shoot at the windows of fleeing vehicles. They all stand there shooting away while the targeted automobile drives away unscathed, and no one thinks to shoot out the stupid tires! Even if it doesn't stop them immediately (most people don't know to recoup from bare metal instead of rubber hitting the road all of a sudden), they still wouldn't be able to move as fast, or get very far away, and would be pretty obvious to spot. But I guess that would require the writers to come up with a more difficult, if more authentic storyline. Though it would help to stem my frustration with the show's creators, and stop me from insanely screaming at the TV; "Shoot out the damned tires already, yah morons!".

Another lame oversight in the development of this (otherwise really good) episode, is when Richard Thomas's character,David Foy, keeps blaming the agents for his son getting shot -- well what did he think was going to happen if he didn't pay the ransom? That they were going to just let him go, and not make an example of him? His son was going to die anyway. Duh! I guess the ability to utilize logic really isn't connected to having money.

Other than that, this was a well crafted episode. Reddington and the task force were in fine form and the twists and turns were tasty. You could see influences from some other shows, but they weren't used in a derivative way. It was good to see Aram finally demonstrate the extra training he'd requested and go beyond the sad puppy demeanor. I love that this show keeps delivering little known aspects of widely accepted aspects of our common history, and that they're bestowed with with such resigned humour, or acceptance. I'm always looking things up afterwards.

As for the reviewer who complained about the episode containing"Islamic preaching" and "the brain washing of people on the great principles of Islamic Sharia Law./values"... Well I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have complained at all if Dembe was say, a Catholic, and was seeking spiritual advice from his Catholic advisor. "Oh those damn Catholics, always preaching, and trying to push their Catholic agenda on us...". Oh, no, wait... they already have, and continue to do so... everywhere else. But no, let's just whine about the so called agenda (and the transgressions by a small number) of a religion that belongs to (mainly) people with brown skins, and ignore centuries of slaughter and jihads masterminded by the Catholic Church (for one) and it's (mainly) white skinned constituency. So beyond disgusted by the narrow mindedness and hypocrisy of some white people now! Grow an ability to open your mind already, would yah. Try reading some home truths about your white Christian history and learn own your own history of terrorism.

Ok

Warning: Spoilers
One reviewer complained this was Islamic preaching. The same conversation could have been set in a church between a priest and their parishioner. I wonder if he would have complained it was Christian preaching.

(I'm an atheIst btw).

I don't like seeing poor Dembe stuck on the horns of a dilemma, he deserves better, another reason I dislike Keen.

The 1% vs 99% storyline had a fairly predictable arc and ending.

Given where the Judas cradle went, I'm not sure I'd be patting its point as Red did!

Also, great to see John Cullum, I was a big Northern Exposure (1990) fan.

Oh That John Boy
Hitchcoc1 December 2022
The principle plot line is that of a group who kidnap the children of mega-rich families, torture them, collect the ransoms, and then release them. Richard Thomas refuses and the boy is shot? The redhead a jump ahead of the task force. Red continues to be obsessed with the person who turned him in. Liz and Dembe are wise to this and don't know what to do. All their efforts are being compromised by Don and his digging. He gets an interesting image from a post office surveillance video. This whole thing is really getting dragged out. Once again, Red uses extreme violence in looking into betrayal.

Disappointing narrative
bcosmin-5648515 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
There were a number of major flaws in the writing of this episode. And also the breaking scene, terrible CGI. UNLIKE the rest of the show. I'm surprised it doesn't have more one-star ratings.
