This installment of "American Masters" is similar to several others I've seen. Instead of a traditional biography, the show is instead a bit of biography (though big chunks of Perlman's life seemed missing), a bit of his playing music and a bit of him with friends and family. Overall, it comes off like being a fly in the wall in Perlman's home...watching him and his wife going through their everyday lives. Fan's of Perlman will adore it...others might feel that it's not exactly a must-see. I enjoyed the insights into the man...and it's unlikely you'll find another look as candid as this one. Complete? No...but candid.
