Glorious. Veronica back with a vengeance

As a long time lover of this series, this is a stunning return to form. The movie never quite worked for me so I was apprehensive this was a cash grab that would tarnish the reputation and spoil the memory of the original three series.

I am delighted and thrilled to say that this is note perfect. It's a great evolution of the characters. The witty banter and sharp scripting remains and the rapport between the characters is as strong as ever.

The plot is also what we'd come to expect - I can't wait to watch the next episode and I'm so relieved that the return of this classic show is so good.

Overall, not quite up to the original 3 seasons; some of the acting seems a little like the actors aren't quite as into it as originally. The R-rated language & references go too far.

The story was strong, the original characters were brilliant , although a bit softer , disappointed in the police chief choice, the banter between V and dad was rocking. As a big veronica mars fan was really happy to see season 4. Awaiting season 5.......

Kristen Bell aka Veronica Mars can do nothing wrong in my book, this is my all time favorite series to binge on and season 4 so far do not disapoint me, love it.

I did not know that a new season of Veronica Mars was available, so I was very excited to watch it. It did not dissapoint me at all, the essence of the show is there and the characters are very good (with some exceptions). Only fans of the serie can enjoy it from the beginning to the end (I know that many fans are angry about the ending, but it is tough call how to finish this serie). Happy to have the series back for one season at least!

You can tell this show has the 2000's vibe still in tact which is good. Is the comedy as strong as it could be? No, but the light-hearted nature works and the show can still give us a good murder mystery when it needs to.

I am really disappointed in Season 4. The someone (writers, producers, directors??) obviously didn't get the draw of the original show. I binged watched all 3 seasons and the movie so I could enjoy this new season. The dialog and direction is over the top, making it seem like a campy satire of the original show. There's gore and foul language. Sure, I know that t.v. has changed but that was one reason I liked watching the original series - no really gory scenes, more innuendo and wit.

Disappointed in this season (so far)

Man. What a disappointment. Maybe they think they've created a Veronica that is just more "grown up" but essentially, she's lost all her charm and humor and sass and is simply ....jaded and sad. The script is mediocre at best, and the characters have lost most of their personality. Instead of wit, the script is filled with bad language and sexual comments, some of them really disgusting. We almost stopped watching during the middle of the first episode. The second episode was somewhat better on that count, but the characters still didn't have much personality and there wasn't much in the script to laugh at. Veronica hardly smiles at all. Logan isn't sarcastic. I guess I'm not surprised - this is what often happens when trying to bring back a show after many years.... just not the same. We haven't decided if we'll watch the rest of the season.

Wrong Direction

This season, done by Hulu, is not the same Veronica Mars of Seasons 1-3 and the movie. So far it is trashy, gory, blah, and Veronica is 2 dimensional. Not sure why they went this direction.

This episode/season feels more soap opera like. It doesn't have the same vibe I grew up with. And what did they do to the theme song???? It's absolutely awful! There better be a lot of Wallace and Weevil to make up for this disappointment.

What a letdown

I really liked seasons one and two. Three wasn't much good, but since the movie was a step in the right direction, I was looking forward to season four. Unfortunately, I just suffered through one of the most disappointing shows I have ever watched. When I saw it was from Hulu, I knew it was in trouble. Sure enough, it was full of foul language (lots of s**t in English and Spanish). On top of that, there were also some gross sexual innuendos. These things were mercifully missing from the previous seasons & the movie. Not everybody enjoys wallowing in the baser qualities of the human species. That's not what Veronica Mars had been about - until this episode. The main plot, both subplots, and the backstory are all uninteresting. The writiers were just coasting, letting free association carry the story & the dialogue. One redeeming quality - Kristen Bell. Without her, it would be a 1.

The entire season: not that great. Wish they left it at the movie. Didn't have the same feel as the old Veronica Mars. She was annoying. It was all just weird and awkward. Don't event get me started on that ending. I'll just pretend this season never happened.

Just not Veronica Mars

For all the criticism the Veronica Mars movie gets for being "fanservice" and "nostalgic" (as though either is a bad thing), it was still 100% Veronica Mars. Veronica was still our Veronica, but she was also something more: she was, at long last, a hero. Veronica has not been a hero since season 1; she lost all her positive traits in later seasons. The movie managed to still keep her as Veronica, but also enabled her to grow up and become a hero again.

In season 5, she is once again, a Hero in Name Only. She is paranoid, abusive, insensitive, inconsiderate, dismissive of other people and their needs, and generally exhibits no real desire to change herself. But the biggest change though is her immaturity. This season completely disregards the growth Veronica had in the movie and the two books and returns her to the same place as her childhood: self-destructive in every way. At over 35 years old, she has learned absolutely nothing.

I will not spoil the ending (there are plenty of other ways to do that). But I will tell you that it was absolutely HORRIBLE. This did not need to happen. Veronica did not NEED to experience needless tragedy, just when her life was finally looking up. To give you an idea of just how bad the ending was: More than 2,600 fans (in counting) have specifically said they will *not* watch a potential season 5 unless the final twist is undone.

Please do not renew Veronica Mars.

My wife and I had watched the original show and even saw the movie, so she was especially excited for Season 4 on Hulu. It started off with a great concept, but I called who the main bad guy would be 5 minutes in to the first episode. (I think it was supposed to be a big twist at the end.) That said, the ridiculous level of full woke, anyone not crazy left wing is an evil idiot, white people are evil (even though they have Veronica play the white savior at the same time), men are evil, blah blah blah. For the most part all of this completely irrelevant to the story, just them trying to win the woke awards. Spitting in the face of your audience, not a good idea. The final nail in the coffin was in the very last minute of the show for me. When Veronica talks about the big bad and says almost with an air of respect "Yeah, turns out he was an evil genius" after what he took from her is just insulting to what was lost and makes you completely dislike her as a character. Veronica herself was always the draw of this show and in that one comment made me lose all respect for the character. Sadly, huge let down.

Happy Until The End

I finished the season when it came out and thought they did a good job. I don't want to give any spoilers. They need to have a season 5. I enjoyed the show and the return of the original cast. The end however, I did not see coming and hope the can change it in season 5. When the last episode ended it ended a year later and unbelievably wrong. How can you have Veronica Mars without Logan ?? It

This is the first episode of the fourth season of Veronica Mars which was restarted by Hulu 12 years after the show ended. Visually it looks pretty and cinematics look advanced but everything else got worse. The storyline is super confusing with 100 new characters introduced and 50 different stories going on at once. Actors act like something is off and Veronica isn't really acting like Veronica, neither is her father or Logan.

This season is "Veronica Mars" only in name. In fact it has nothing in common with the original show except for starring Kristen Bell. The entire 4th season is a poor effort in milking a once successful brand.

It was obvious this was going to fail though because bringing back an old show with new crew almost always fails. Out of 100 similar attempts, you'd be lucky to see 2-3 successful attempts.
