You would probably grow to hate weed with a passion too if you lived on Tegridy Farms
reckno31 October 2019
I can relate a lot to Shelly. Living in a city where there are a lot of pot smokers and you smell the weed every day downtown, it really starts to become a source of my ire. Pot really smells, but it seems to help a lot of people in many ways, so I ignore it. Or at least try to. I can only ignore it so much before it starts to really irritate me, and it becomes a problem for Shelly. Quite literally a pseudo-drug problem as it's portrayed in the episode.

Meanwhile Butters becomes cursed by a Mummy, and I feel bad for Butters the entire time. I think I can relate a lot to him too. Hard to really explain this subplot so I suggest you see the episode yourself (I mean if you're reading the reviews, I assume you plan to see the episode anyway.....)

It was a pretty good episode in my opinion. Not one of their finest but I liked it for what it was. I just hope Butters and The Mummy can make up in a future episode. :'(

Could have been better.

Warning: Spoilers
The synopsis is that Shelly tries to ruin Randy's Tegridy Farms Halloween special, while Butters releases a mummy that terrorizes the town.

I really enjoy South Park's Halloween specials, the episodes Pinkeye, Korn's Groovy Pirate Ghost Mystery and The Scoots were my favourite episodes of the seasons they were in. This episode, however, was noticeably worse than those episodes but was overall okay.

The Tegridy Farm plot in this episode was stale at the beginning (As with every other Tegridy plot) but starts to have some good qualities near the end. Shelly is by far my least favourite character, she treats nearly every character like a jerk and my least favourite episodes of the old seasons (An Elephant Makes Love to a Pig, Cat Orgy) were both episodes were she got a major role! But I actually liked her in this episode because she was providing points against Randy (Who I think is unlikeable in this season) that made a lot of sense. Near the end of the episode, I really enjoyed how they brought back Winnie the Pooh and the Dead Cows and the Invasion of the Body Snatchers references. The ending is what made this episode feel like an episode from season 22 which is a good thing.

As for the plot with Butters and the mummy. I was not good. The story felt really cliche and quite predictable. This was supposed to be the true Halloween plot of the episode, but it didn't have the creative charm as Pinkeye, Korn's Groovy Pirate Ghost Mystery or the Scoots did.

Overall, Tegridy Farms Halloween Special is an ok episode but it could have been improved.

Good, but not great

Warning: Spoilers
This episode features Randy making a Halloween Special. That is, it's literally about marijuana that's called that. Shelley is tired of the marijuana and tries to destroy it. Unfortunately, this just seems to make it more effective. Meanwhile, Butters revives a mummy. The best part might be near the end, when it seems like Winnie The Pooh came back to life!

Sadly, it's just hallucinations. I admit they could have gone further than that. It would have been nice to see some action scenes with the resurrected cows and plant zombies. Still, it was good for what it was. I like how Butters learns to get over the mummy's curse. Happy Halloween 2019! ***

Solid

Warning: Spoilers
The Tegridy plot was fine. Randy was a bit less unlikable than he has been so far this season. The "marijuana problem" joke was funny, as was the twist ending.

Butters' b-plot was okay, not one of best though IMO. Archeologist Butters is adorable. The mummy stuff had its moments, but overall it was a bit weak.

All in all, Tegridy Farms Halloween Special is a solid outing with a few good laughs. South Park was doing better in Season 23 and, at the time of this writing, Season 25 in 2022, than the only other cartoon show to go at least 25 years.

Am I the only one here who feels that the BGM for towel and Randy sounds like mosquito?

Season 23 is turning out to be really hit or mis. This episode was definitely part of the latter. Not bad or anything, but also not very memorable.

This episode was a real miss for me. I only found PC Principal and Cartman's one line funny at all. The Halloween Special and Butters' curse plots were both dry for me. I felt that my time could have been better spent.

Not worth your time

Warning: Spoilers
After a strong start to the 23rd season, the Halloween special is like getting fruit while trick or treating; disappointing.

Very a few jokes, story was all over the place, and not much relating to the themes set out in the rest of the season (ie, the subplot about China Censorship). And the b-plot with butters had little crossover with the a-plot.

I think even the writers knew this one was a dud, as they close out the episode with the following: Randy - "did everyone enjoy the Halloween special?" Sharon - "no randy, only you did" Randy - "oh! well, that was pretty much my target audience anyway".

My guess is a b-plot is a reference to something that happened to the writer (Matt & Trey) so is a joke for them, and wasn't really meant for the audience.

What is happening ? South Park is getting worse and worse !
martinsmarkss1 November 2019
Jokes isn't that funny, characters also feels and acts different ! Trey & Matt has run out of ideas and they creativity also is gone ! I am sorry to say this but cancellation or ending South Park forever would be best option cause its hurting me and many other long time SP fans who has watched South Park since beginning 20+ years ago.

Just watch old Halloween episodes like
  • A Nightmare on Facetime (My favorite SP Halloween themed episode)
  • Hell on Earth 2006
  • Pinkeye
-Marjorine -Korn's Groovy Ghost Pirate Mystery -SpookyFish -Dead celebrities -Sons a Witches -The Scoots -The Magic Bush -Goth Kids 3: Dawn of the Posers

It is incredible that south park after 20+ years release the episode this bad.... This could be accepted if it was a pilot or something like that. I feel disappointed.

One of the worst Halloween specials
fransgp20 May 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This is definelitly one of the most mediocre episodes I've ever seen in the show. Most of the jokes aren't funny and the last scene of Randy throwing a used condom is unnecerarly gross and nasty. The plots are just weak and pretty boring. I can like Tegridy Farms but this episode just made me sick of them. I love South Park and I think it's one of the best adult cartoons in history, but this episode just made me want to throw myself out of the window. The only jokes that made me laugh where some PC Principal quotes and Winnie The Poo as a zombie. My final veredic is that is the worst episode of the season and I'll give It 3 because it's just meh.
