o-zaferoglu31 March 2022
I dont understand why everyone hated it on first episode ? I believe it goes as a really good space show so far. This episode better than first one. I hope it goes better with each episode.

Done Very Well
gbarrett-3994131 March 2022
I loved playing Halo since the 1st release. This is a well done Sci-Fi show wrapped in a Halo skin. Second episode is solid. The acting and CGI holds up. This might just be an excellent replacement for The Expanse.

Improvement on episode 1
kj-3675731 March 2022
I really enjoyed the world building this episode has. Its not giving you the action but I understand whats happpening in the universe and the motivations all around much better. Felt like it went 1-2 scenes too long but overall solid.

Oh boy that was a lot of talking for a FPS based show
ZEROspawn31 March 2022
It feels like they have hired not only people that don't know the Halo univers at all, but are entirely new to writing a show.

Not only was this boring to watch, it was almost painful at times.

And the worst thing it's not just the writing it's also the look of the show and the slaughter of all that good lore they could have used.

It's hard to tell in the show if the enemy is really well know or not at all know by the humans in this univers. Because on the on hand we get to see how they are totally a new thing for some, while others have been taken and released by them, and their attacks are well known and the sources of many technologies people use in their daily lives or have seen, but they are still being told to us through the writing as being something more of a myth ? Please pick a lane, what they hell are they, in Halo games it was pretty clear when where and how they where known and fitted in, here in two episodes it feels like they are telling two different things.

And again with the helmet off in a room with all the guns pointed at him, why just why. Not even being a supers soldier I can see that as a bad tactic, as all it takes is one nervous, badly trained or glory seeker to end it all.

We also see that not all super soldiers are all that super, they are not like the games larger than life, but also comes in what looks like 5.8 sizes, because reasons I guess. And whats up with him talking stereotypical like a black man, are they saying it's genetics or something. They should all talk and act more like machines at that point, that's all they have learned, unless they have given speciel lessons to some. Not to mention it feels so off that all the Spartans are not buzz cut, they are again more like machines here, why do the females have long hair, as it's not practical or easy to maintain inside a helmet, whats next hair extensions and died hair...... oh god it's going to be died hair isn't it, with the something along the lines of "I finally found myself".

This is really trash compared to all the short movies that have been around for years, "forward until dawn " is a freaking goldmine compared to this.

Should you buy acces to this or for this. Absolutely not, I wouldn't even say you should download it as it's waste of bandwidth.

Should be epic, but currently just ok
BruceWayne32 April 2022
They are taking a waaaay too deep look into some of the characters life. The characters are getting really emotional , kind of bad acting. We don't care about all that. Show me master chief taking out aliens non stop. Bring on the action, less drama. If your going to do drama make it good, this gets too boring.

The scene of the chick taking off her clothes seemed weird, anyone else get a weird vibe ?

I kind of hate the storyline already.

Hope things get better moving forward.

Slow paced episode that builds up this Halo narrative universe.
fciocca31 March 2022
"Unbound" finally starts to build the structure of this massive narrative world. It provides a bit of John's backstory and new characters are introduced. There are no action sequences. The episode is slow paced with interesting dialogues that finally shed some light about the artifact that has been retrieved in the first episode. The cast did a solid job. I especially enjoyed Bokeem Woodbine's performance, who was very charismatic and portrayed possibly one of the most interesting characters of the show. Big letdown for Dr. Halsey: the acting by Natascha McElhone is average to say the least and does not live up to the source material. I really hope that she's done better in the next episodes, because at the moment is one of the most unimpressive elements of the cast. Overall, I am satisfied with this development, but the show still does not convince me completely. It cannot grab my undivided attention and I think that there were a few scenes that were just too long and tedious. CGI and visual effects are well done and compensate a bit for the boredom, but it is not enough. I hope that for the next we will get something more substantial.

god this show sucks
zombie84-12 April 2022
This like some lame left over star wars lore with masterchief tossed in. The acting is so stiff the plot is so boring. Im holding off on this show till all the eps build up. But i dont see it gettin any better. At least the visuals are decent and on par.

Very well done
dionvasile31 March 2022
A big improvement on episode 1.

This included some depth into the characters that haven't been seen before in Halo and is not cringe. It actually starts to make a bit of sense why master chief is who he is. There's no action but dialogue and screenplay is 100x better than first episode. I was doubtful but now I am so excited for the rest of the series.

Understanding the world and its challenges.
bosporan31 March 2022
Some good environmental world building, but the dialogue is terrible. This is a writing problem exacerbated by poor direction. The delivery is often monotone, always wooden and devoid of emotion - all the actors suffer from this, even Natascha McElhone who normally shines. A blatant illustration is the round table dignitaries scene.

The plot is moved forward and the various character motivations are better delineated presenting a map of how the diverse factions stand in opposition to Master Chief including those close to him. A necessary step in the story, but not as strong as episode 1.

Slower but good one
laubepiotr1 April 2022
Visually Halo is a masterpiece. The asteroid city is nothing I have seen before and the "rail / cable car" ride reminded me of the good old Indiana Jones. The story is building up, new characters are introduced. This time it is more talking than doing, and I am ok with it for one episode, and next week I expect some good SF combat again.

So far this show is an expensive nothing-burger
dylanmortiz4 April 2022
After accepting that this show will do little to nothing to generate excitement from decades-long Halo fans, I am forced to judge this shownon what it is.

This second episode is entirely narrative driven. They are building to something, and I'm not sure what that "something" is as a Halo fan. I've learned to not expect anything I am familiar with out of this show. They seem too eager to create something completely different while trying to cash-in on the names of the characters we grew up to love.

Either way, for a show with as high a budget as this, this episode was rather boring and a let down. I say that as a review of a show that markets itself as sci-fi, suspenseful, and adventurous, not as a show that markets itself as Halo.

So for those who have not played the games, this show is not even close to it. And for those who have, temper your expectations. Even on its own, it has not done much to wow me as a standalone piece of TV.

Amazing episode adding depth to the series
adamkovac-0162531 March 2022
This is the episode that made me excited for the rest of the season. While I consider the first episode to be incredibly dumb and stupid in its execution, the second one fixes it all and brings forward the things I love the most about the Halo - human stories, politics, heavy decision making, loyalty, honor, hope. What people and "loyal" fans are often forgetting about is how UNSC was shattered before and during the Human - Covenant war, and it is something that's absolutely gloriously shown here. Political intrigues, manipulations, people trying to think about the bigger picture, bad decision making from them to keep their image intact. Chief becoming more and more human but still sticking to his loyalty and honor in the end - because that's the only thing he knows he can trust, and without those, he is nothing.

Some people consider this episode to be a filler - but how can they say that? A filler is absolutely unnecessary for the story. So far, this episode was the most important one in the season for character development (let it be knowing more about relationship between Blessed One and Mercy, relationship between Halsey and John which seems to be personal, yet professional, but also fragile because of the political reasons), questions about morality with Cortana.... I just don't have words. If any show writer is reading this, I'd like to congratulate you - this was extremely well done!

I literally have only one point where I have mixed feelings - Chief taking off his armor. Spartans need a special equipment to remove it - and it's definitely not on Pelican, and you could at least show it - hell, you are showing it also in your Opening, so just stick to what you are setting by that, lol.

Put The Helmet Back On
brendonstrevig11 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This second episode seriously sucks. The first was a decent start but this one really just went sideways. The took off Master Chief's helmet in the pilot. Shouldn't have done it, but if they were going to they should have saved it for the finale. This episode has a serious problem of him even wearing the helmet. He barely wears it.

And they need to drop this Kwan plot. No one cares. The first episode wasn't bad. It adapted the game decently. HUD right out of the game, Elites, nailed the armor, sound effects from the game. Decent start. But this episode is definitely where it started to do wrong. Went from Halo to a drama.

It Isnt Halo
ronniewhitedx3 April 2022
I'm pretty upset honestly. Halo is one of my most cherished franchise growing up and it honestly pains me more than anything to say that whatever this is, is certainly not the same story, characters or the same atmosphere as what us fans have come to know and love from the Bungie series and most of what 343 has done. It could've been something much more than a greedy cash grab from the suits but I guess were living in the timeline where that wasn't obtainable.

  • Chief w/o armor and talking way too much
  • useless side character with little to zero intrigue
  • human covenant that somehow has the trust of the prophet?! Ok...
  • CGI is at a level that honestly isn't acceptable.

  • Dialogue is cringe for the majority of the duration.

There are more issues than just those, however its a good place to start. I want this show to work however it'd flawed at its absolute core. An absolute disease without a cure.

Great visuals BUT Filler episode that deviated further from canon
mitchellm-874361 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
All of the events in this entire episode could've been done in 15 minutes. The "character" driven approach this series is taking is too slow paced. The draw of Halo is Masterchief being heroic while the mystery of the Halo Rings unfold, not John walking around NO HELMET on a scavenger hunt. The whole subplot with the blessed ones is being carried out poorly since in canon any human can use forerunner tech. 3/10 no action.

Why?
tdsearles252 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The many choices of the writers leave me continually asking the question - why?

With such a vast Halo universe and history why are we dabbling and making up things that no one cares about?

Master chief is out of character. Why is he so quick and willing to lower his guard, remove his armor and leave himself open?

Why are we spending so much time with random anarchy rebels?

No one is interested in Sorens family. Why? Because we want to learn about the Covenant, the Forerunners.

Cortina and Chiefs relationship was key to the games. Why did they think it a good idea to change that?

The liberties taken with the show just lessens the quality of an already amazingly established Halo universe. Such a shame and disappointment so far.

Steadily building up momentum to be great
Prince_on_Mars31 March 2022
Episode 2 takes us further into establishing the series. Giving us the picture of the politics going on within human world. The resistance and it brutality, the sinister nature of the female lead scientist who seems make everyone believe she's is interested in salvation of the human race but rather using that as a cover for her scientific experiments. You could see it in her laughter and and looks. She has a devious card up her sleeves. So far it been a near perfect episode 2 that's why I am giving it 9 stars rating. This series has so much potential for spinoffs. So far the job is great.

Looking forward to episode 3.

Human being
chiefspartanfan99731 March 2022
There are no action scenes in this episode at all, but for a general understanding of how the world works within the series and who John was all this time, the series works perfectly. The plot gives a powerful impetus to the development of events and I am almost sure that fans of the canon will be angry this time too.

Master Chief walks almost the entire episode without a helmet, reflects on the world that turned upside down in his head after touching the artifact, and Pablo Schreiber perfectly conveys all the emotions of his hero.

Flights in space and everything related to the visual this time were at the highest level, it was a pleasure to watch and admire the picture. I would like to believe that the third episode more than compensates for the lack of combat tension. It is a pleasant stop on the outskirts of free space, where John-117 was given time to be an ordinary person, which he does not know how to be at all.

Great scify with lovely visuals
namob-436734 April 2022
Another really good episode. Not as action packed as the first one, and more of a transport exposition episode which we need to have in order to know what is going on and to expand upon this world.

As in the first episode the visuals and computer animations are great, we get to see more aliens, more cool stuff, more cool places.

I still reserve a bit of hesitation due to the acting not being 100%, especially from the asiatic girl who's line delivery reminds me of a brick wall. I also feel that they are trying to make this too much into a political "The Expanse" variant. I think it is great that they tell us what is going on and who the players are and why we should care, but I do not think that is why people watch this show. The Expanse got away with it because it was the core of that show and they had actors and source material to tap into. Halo is more of a shoot, blow things up, kill aliens story and they should keep to that strength.

But this is still giving me great vibes and so far so good. A weak 8/10, let us now move on from exposition and get to more action please.

Rebels vs UNSC, who cares?
caiocsouza1 April 2022
Even with the constant warnings we had from the showrunners in interviews, saying that they didn't play or research the games, i decided to give this one a try, after all is a $ 200 million show about one of the most beloved franchises in the world, and what i got was disappointment...This girl just saw everyone she knew getting slaughtered by an alien race and still refuses to help the UNSC who are clearly the only ones able to deal with them. It looks like the showrunners didn't have time to look at the games, but to watch 6 seasons of the expanse they had, and still, they took the most boring part of the show, wich is the conflict between humans. If you take that away, the expanse is an even greater show about humanity facing the unknown, and tthats what halo is about. Super weapons designed to deal with a threat of total anihilation, by the covenant, then, by the flood...who cares about a tyrant on a small planet, or master chief's past when we have an apocalipse at our doorstep. I swear i dont care if he takes his helmet of or no, or how TF they have gravity on a small rock, but please, this IP is lovecraftian, is cosmic horror, not some political drama set in space. Just cancelled my paramount account and said the reason, just hope there isn't a season 2 and that maybe, just maybe, this serve as a lesson that you should at least try to understand the core concept of something you are adapting for tv...also, gaming is an industry bigger than tv shows and cinema combined, don't try to take a high road and say you don't care about the games.

Slow but building to something possibly great!!!
RealShitM81 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Really enjoyed the beginning scene with insurrectionists trying to get in Master chiefs way, only for him to push away a fork lift like it was a small box.

The world building is pretty cool. The asteroid world where outlaws live looked cool. The citizens of this world wear steam punk clothing which compliments the type of setting this is.

The UNSC hearing about chief was great, discussing chiefs consequences and Halsey's Cortana project.

Overall great second episode with some slow parts that was beginning to feel boring (Soren and Chief dialogues).

I suggest everyone to watch this unique series.

If you enjoy Hilo game, you will surely enjoy this series as well, and of course, this series has a completely different storyline from the game, and you can watch the story of Hilo games in this series without worrying about spoiling.

Enjoying the world building so far
laurencominotto5 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
How much can you do with a show based on a fps where locations are only where you're fighting the Covenant without it feeling like you're watching someone else playing a video game?

I have enjoyed these first two episodes and am waiting to watch more. I enjoyed seeing new worlds and the people that are living their lives outside of the war and the Marines. The games don't lend much other than shoot and kill, so I did enjoy this episode, though, yes, a little slow.

Happy that it is set, I'm assuming, between Reach and the first Halo game. Just annoyed about seeing a full flesh Cortana. She's computer AI. Just weird, but I'll keep watching and see where it's going.

And yes, it is a lot of no helmet Master Chief. (Trying to not compare this to The Mandalorian.) But yes. He should live in that damn helmet. Losses it's mystery about who he is as a character, and having the helmet on all the time would add to his unknown childhood they keep hinting at.

I've played all the Halo games, just haven't finished the newest one, and the show is far better than Halo 5. In my opinion. Halo 5 sucked as you barely played Master Chief. My opinion.

Warning: Spoilers
John 117, a professional soldier raised from childhood to live and breath combat, proceeds to take off his helmet in a station full of insurrectionists, aka terrorists, and then keeps his helmet off for the rest of the episode. Covie lady gets naked which is a great surprise, do more of that and you might actually get some good reviews tho they digitally removed any sign of nipples, just watch where they should be an witness the pixels acting strange during the scene. Would be 1/10 if not for covie booty. This is not the halo we know and love.

Amazing set up
sawbonesprod31 March 2022
Without having much action at all, somehow this episode was even better than the first. I'm a long time Halo reader and player and I really enjoy how they are handling the lore and the story so far. I understand that people are upset that this isn't the story of the original Halo universe, but if you really think about it, they are still employing SO many of the things that are discussed and laid out in the original lore. The Spartan program and it's side effects, the Astroid colonies, the outer colony insurgents, the human's place as the Forerunner reclaimers, ITS ALL THERE!! It's just not exactly how everything sits in the original canon. And that should be fine because they are making a show, not a game or a book. A show. And one that many many people who have never heard of Halo are watching. Thinking of watching this episode as someone who knew nothing about the Halo universe, I would be so intrigued. They are making this a more cohesive, made for tv storyline and I am here for it. I think it will bring so many new people into this amazing universe. I am absolutely loving what they are doing with this show and I want everyone to rate it highly so we can get a season 2!! Let's gooo!!
