New Mandy..
nguyth29 September 2018
I love this show, and I'm really happy that it's back, but I have mixed feeling about this first episode. It's funny and smart like always, but the new Mandy really threw me off. Taller, blonde and less enthusiastic, it just felt wrong. I really enjoyed everything else except that...Maybe I'll warm up to her in the future episodes, we'll see.

Welcome Back

Warning: Spoilers
We found the first episode funny, warm, and very welcome. From witty jokes about shows changing networks, to presenting the fact that people can disagree on a variety of ideas and not hate each other, to pointing out that some things like family are more important than politics, it was a great return for the show. Bravo!

Hope they bring Ephraim back...

Warning: Spoilers
The show is still what it was, but the new Mandy Baxter is not as good as Molly Ephraim... I know this is a silly wish, but I do hope they bring her back. Liked everything else. Molly McCook seems like a good actress and she's making a good effort, but she's not as enthusiastic and funny as Ephraim.

Good to be back!!!

Last Man Standing is truly one of those sitcoms that has the classic charm and humor we all love to watch and hear! I enjoyed the first episode, even though a few charters have been swapped for new actors. And I'll have to get used to the new taller and blonder Mandy. I think they did a good job picking the right people for that characters, had a good balance of current affairs and the importance real life situations and family. They certainly did a better job than "Roseanne" at combing these two while not getting over political in and already over optical time in our world. It's nice to have a good laugh and watch a family come together in a world that is currently divided on so much. God Bless!

Love the fact that the show is back on, but don't like the new Mandy. If they couldn't get Molly Ephraim back then they should have tried to find someone that looked similar.

TV family is BACK!
thefinswin2 October 2018
This was a great first episode for season seven! Loved the little tribute to the fans and the jabs at ABC. Mike, Vanessa, Eve, Kristin, Ed, Kyle, Chuck are back! Boyd and Mandy are Familiar members portrayed by new actors and I must say they fit right in. Boyd did a wonderful job of bringing an older perspective on his character and Molly McCook is fantastic as Mandy Baxter! Her comic timing is spot on. Remember she's playing Mandy not Molly Ephraim and I loved her effort and comfort with people she does not have years of familiarity with. Great episode! So glad they're back!

They're back - let the trolling begin!

LMS has long been a favorite of mine -- along with "a lot of loyal kick-ass fans," as Mister B put it in this Season 7 opener. The writing is still sharp, as it should be, since the show's creator and much of the writing cast is back, along with all but two of the original cast. I'm eager to see more.

Sure, from time to time it has been a little right of center, but that places it in a universe of very few similar shows. Ryan, who at first was a one-dimensional liberal foil for Mike, developed into an actual character through the show's first six seasons. Here's hoping he gets to develop further.

For viewers who might be new to the series and aren't familiar with the backstory, ABC canceled the show -- the network's second-highest-rated comedy -- amid fan charges that it was "too conservative" for the network. The first part of the opening scene was one long direct reference to that event and to the show's migration to Fox. Knowing that will put that scene's in-jokes in context.

The prior six seasons are in syndication, and I recommend watching a few episodes. It might grow on you.

Same show, same charm...mostly.

Most fans of the "other network" lol, version will still enjoy the the FOX version. Small casting changes definitely allow for opportunities to explore their respective characters in a different way. And casting changes is nothing new. Both the respective original cast actors will be missed, but plenty to hold onto from the original networks show.

Welcome back Baxter
ethanhewson29 September 2018
So happy to see LMS back. I loved the episode. Everyone is going on about Mandy's new recast actor Molly McCook and saying that she's been poorly written but I don't think that's the case, remember we already had a recast in the show, Alexandra Krosney first played Kristin Baxter in season 1 of the show before Amanda Fuller, so what did Amanda do right when taking over Alexandra? I think it's because she recreated her character to suit her acting style. Maybe in time that's what Molly McCook will do over time.

New Season Opener Falls Flat
taraangel-4096029 September 2018
I've been a fan of Last Man Standing from the start.

Not so much after watching the first episode of the 7th season. The writing on this show has always been very good. I've never seen an episode that I didn't like, or that didn't make me laugh. So I was excited to see this episode.

Honestly though, I didn't even get a smile out of it. Mandy has always been a delightful character, not anymore. New Mandy has been written as ludicrously unintelligent. Mandy's quazi-ditziness was always cute. But now she seems to have the intelligence of a tzi-tzi fly. It makes the character boring and somewhat aggravating. The 'jokes' weren't funny. I hope that it improves because this has been my sit-com since the first episode of season one.

3 Stars may be generous.

Welcome Baxter

Warning: Spoilers
Axed by ABC and picked up by Fox (cue a very funny opening scene that royally takes the mick out of this fact - possibly the highlight of the episode too) potentially for being too political in nature, 'Last Man Standing' launches its 7th series with an episode that goes all out with political jokes.

It's a good episode, reminding everyone of the quality of the cast and the writing.

There are changes in cast since the move, notably Molly McCook coming in as Mandy, and while that will probably take some getting used to, the show has proven before it can weather personnel changes, and looks like it has again.

Welcome Baxter

Since up till I have not seen this show, I have to say I enjoyed it! I've always had in the back of my mind that I would make time to watch it, especially since it was good enough to go for six seasons. When the controversial episode that seemed to alienate the Disney execs with its satire of political correctness, caused the show to be canceled (especially being one of the networks highest rated comedies). I decided to take a look at the seventh season on it's new home on Fox and though it maybe, as the previous reviewer mentioned, not up to the standard of it's former glory, I believe new viewers are going to enjoy it

New Mandy...

...is not as bad as I thought.

I really didn't feel like going to season 7 because I loved Mandy number 1. But I was really pleasantly surprised by Mandy number 2.

I think she does it well and I've got used to her.

Very good, glad it is back!

I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that it was back. The little bits at start regarding shows being axed or cancelled then brought back was funny. But I miss the middle daughter, the replacement reminds me of those clowns on stilts at parades, too tall in the legs and not as likeable as her predecessor. Still very happy to have the show back with most of the actors and Kyle looks much better with the new hair style.

New Mandy
michaelhastie-4131317 July 2019
Sorry, but the show has gone downhill since Molly Ephraim (Many) left. The NEW Mandy does nothing for me, she will definitely not take the place of Molly Ephraim as Mandy. To make things worse, they have gotten rid of Hector Elizondo (Ed Alzate) who was fantastic. I can see myself turning this once great show off now. Please bring back Molly Ephraim as Mandy, and Hector Elizondo as Ed if you want me to keep watch the show, otherwise, adios.

Welcome Baxter Misses The Mark
mrreactionary29 September 2018
Last Man Standing has never been known to shy away from political jokes even when it aired on ABC. After the show was cancelled by the Mouse, Fox picked up the show as a filler for its weak Friday schedule.

As the opening episode if the seventh season opens the writers decided to make a few jokes about the transition that for the most part miss the mark. Another note includes the character switch for Mindy and setting her intelligence level to that of a garden gnome. All character development has been erased and the writers only use the character to but there to laugh at and to poke fun of.

In the end the opening episode falls short for a veteran sitcom. The jokes fall flat, the characters have little energy, and the writers failed to give the audience any reason to care about the future of these characters.

Need better writing and character development
frankhsia29 September 2018
This is a decent show but is suffering from one characters poorly written and getting to be caricature of real people. The new Mindy is written as a foil lacking any sort of reality. Tim, as usual, is pretty good and holds his own. I hope the rust gets shaken off and the show improves.
