The competition for the Mirrorball Trophy will kick off as planned.
Deadline reports that ABC is moving forward with the Tuesday, September 26, 2023, premiere of Dancing With the Stars Season 32.
The news comes one day after a deal was reached between the Writers Guild of America and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers.
Shortly after a premiere date for the hit reality TV series was revealed this month, it emerged that the show was picketed because it employed a WGA writer.
Veep star Matt Walsh, a competitor this season, announced he would be stepping away from the show until a deal was reached.
"I am taking a pause from Dancing with the Stars until an agreement is made with the WGA," he said in a statement to Deadline.
"I was excited to join the show and did so under the impression that it was not a WGA show and fell under a different agreement,...

Talk about a wild ride!
With Thorsen shot and mid-Wilshire under attack, our TV Fanatics, Denis, Jasmine, and Christine, have a lot to talk about when it comes to The Rookie Season 5 Episode 22.
What were their favorite moments, couples, and action sequence? Read on to find out. And make sure to take the poll down below!
Thorsen's life hangs in the balance after the attack on him and Celina. Do you think there's any chance he won't survive?
Denis: The Rookie never kills off characters aimlessly. In fact, they do the opposite. They keep them around for as long as possible. Based on some character development Thorsen has seen through the season, killing him now wouldn't make sense.
Jasmine: I don't think they'll kill him off because it's too similar to Jackson dying, and he's literally Jackson's replacement. It would feel like overkill and unnecessary. But it did the trick...

ABC’s The Rookie this Tuesday closed out Season 5 with an intense hour during which members of the Mid-Wilshire Division were targeted by creepy af, mask-wearing goons. When all was said and done, which officer’s life was left in limbo?
“Under Siege” opened with Thorsen and Juarez on the way home after a late night of D&Ding when a noise down an alley catches their attention. As they split up to patrol the alley, Thorsen gets sneaked up on and walloped. Juarez runs to help him, only to find him on his knees, seemingly about to be killed execution-style.

If Hollywood writers go on strike — a possibility as we close in on the May 1 deadline without a new deal between the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) — the impact will be felt far beyond New York and Los Angeles. Around the world, producers and distribution companies, not to mention non-wga affiliated writers, are closely watching the ongoing negotiations, with an expectation that a WGA walkout could mean a boost in demand for new international content.
“As with previous WGA strikes, we’d expect there will be an increased demand for content from outside the U.S., particularly from English-speaking countries like the U.K. and Australia,” says Martin Moszkowicz and Oliver Berben of German mini-major Constantin Film, producers of the English-language Resident Evil horror franchise as well as German films and series including We Children From Bahnhof Zoo, which streams on Amazon,...

It has been three weeks, and The Rookie's absence has been felt.
Some major storylines felt like they had been resolved on The Rookie Season 5 Episode 17 with Elijah in prison and Abril dead.
The only remaining story is that of Celina and her mom, even though it doesn't feel as big as the feud between Elijah and Lopez.
Once in a while, The Rookie breaks away from the typical procedural format and does something fun because we are dealing with some hard stuff most of the time.
Spoilers for The Rookie Season 1 Episode 18 tease a light episode as the show revisits the true crime documentary format we have seen before.
The episode will take us back to the previous season. If you watch The Rookie online, you remember that on The Rookie Season 4 Episode 22, we saw some fascinating people who were even more fascinating to Tim and Lucy.

Night Court will be adding more cases to its docket: NBC has renewed the sequel series for Season 2, TVLine has learned.

Metro Tim Bradford is the version of him that I didn't know we needed!
The action and emotional impact of The Rookie Season 5 Episode 14 were all over the map, ranging from amusing storylines and moments via Aaron to thrilling moments via Tim and shockingly heartbreaking ones with Nolan.
They covered the full scope within the hour.
Elijah didn't make a direct appearance in the installment, but his presence still lingers and has far-reaching effects. We saw that to an upsetting degree when he presumably was behind Judge Rivas' death.
Once again, we have Wesley playing with fire when it comes to Elijah, and it's hard to predict how he'll come out on top with this, but there will likely be more death before he does.
Wesley means well, but he shows his hand too easily. He and Nyla were able to figure out that Rivas was under Monica's thumb, which...

The Rookie: Feds team is going undercover for a seemingly low-stakes operation in the January 24 episode, airing at 9/8c on ABC. The team gets the low-down on their latest assignment in the TV Insider exclusive clip above. Unfortunately for Brendon (Kevin Zegers) and Antoinette (Devika Bhise), their first date dinner plans will be interrupted by this case. But team leader Matthew Garza (Felix Solis) doesn’t see why their date can’t take place undercover. They can’t say it won’t be a memorable night! The gaggle of FBI agents (plus Antoinette) will be disguised as bartenders, servers, and guests at a hotel bar — no cover stories needed. “In order to control the environment on certain opps, we sometimes fill the target location with agents,” Garza explains. “Super boring,” Laura (Britt Robertson) bemoans. “And what we’re getting paid to do,” Garza quips back. Simone Clark (Niecy Nash-Betts) needs to prove herself in her new Rookie spinoff this fall. ABC has released the first full-length trailer for The Rookie: Feds, introducing the colleagues with whom the oldest rookie in the FBI will be working. It shows just why Simone is described as a force of nature. Plus, it introduces Matthew Garza’s (Felix Solis) new special unit, which is counter to the rest of the FBI’s ethos. That’s the point, he explains. “The bureau needs an upgrade: less process, more police work.” However, Simone isn’t exactly at the top of his list for the unit. “I need outside the box thinkers who keep things low-key and we both know that’s not you,” Garza explains. As Simone sees it, that means “I just need to prove myself worthy again.” Watch the trailer above to see more of the former guidance counselor...

Update, 3:30 Pm: We finally have a complete Fall 2022 TV schedule, now that Fox has graced us with its presence.
With a lot of that “if it ain’t broke, don’t touch it” mentality, the Murdoch-owned network didn’t exactly drop a ton of surprises after holding out on releasing its line-up with ABC, NBC, CBS and the CW during the upfronts last month. Still, giving the long on the shelf Susan Sarandon, Trace Adkins and Anna Friel starring Monarch a pretty sweet September 11 post-nfl launch perch, Fox did manage to pull focus by being the first network to unveil their premiere dates.
After its gridiron enhanced kick-off, Monarch moves to a Tuesday 9 Pm regular time slot, following The Resident.

ABC is dusting off its classic 1981 slogan and jingle, at least for one night. “Live in Front of a Studio Audience” viewers on Tuesday night will catch a retro-style promo for “Black-ish” that includes the era-appropriate tune “Now is the Time, ABC is the Place!” It’s one of several spots created by the ABC marketing team to fit into the 1980s nostalgia that “Live” is bringing with its remakes of “Diff’rent Strokes” and “The Facts of Life” episodes.
“We could not be more excited to extend the viewing experience for ‘Live in Front of a Studio Audience’ and transport viewers back to the ’80s by creating a series of eight retro-themed promos for our shows to air throughout the night,” said Shannon Ryan, president, content marketing, Hulu & General Entertainment.
ABC did a similar stunt the last time “Live in Front of a Studio Audience” took place, in 2019, with a series of 1970s-inspired promos.

Los Angeles Angels outfielder/pitcher Shohei Ohtani today became the first two-way star to win the American League Most Valuable Player award. He received all 30 first-place votes for his dominating performance.
The 27-year-old Ohtani hit 46 home runs with 100 Rbi and went 9-2 with a 3.18 Era and 156 strikeouts in 23 starts as a pitcher. Toronto Blue Jay Vladimir Guerrero Jr. finished second, while his teammate Marcus Semien came in third.
Ohtani is the second Japanese-born player to win an Mvp award, joining Ichiro Suzuki (2001). The award comes just two years after he underwent Tommy John surgery to repair an elbow ligament. That kept him from pitching in 2019 and limited him to just under two innings in 2020.
Roaring out of the box in the spring, Ohtani hit 33 home runs in the first half and was the first two-way starter in All-Star Game history. He pitched a perfect first inning. He also participated in...

The Rookie will feature a lot more Jenna Dewan.
According to Deadline, the actress has been promoted to series regular on the procedural drama.
Dewan plays firefighter Bailey Nune and first appeared at the end of The Rookie Season 3.
It seemed like there were plans to make Dewan more prominent on the series, with showrunner Alexi Hawley telling TV Line earlier this year there were plans to keep the actress on the show.
“We couldn’t really do a ton of love interest stuff during the middle of the pandemic, but at the end of the day it felt like, ‘Let’s find him somebody to potentially take us into next season’. And Jen is really special, and I love the character,” Hawley said at the time.
News of the promotion comes days after it was announced Dewan would be reprising her Lucy Lane role on The CW's Superman & Lois.

Endeavor Content has optioned Emily Ziff Griffin’s New Yorker essay “The Last Dance with My Dad” for film, with Lynette Howell Taylor and Samantha Housman on board to produce the adaptation for 51 Entertainment.
The Last Dance with My Dad is billed as a coming-of-age story about a father-daughter bond set against the backdrop of unique and unexpected life-changing realities. In the article published September 2, Griffin reflects on a Miami to San Juan, Puerto Rico cruise for gay men that she took with her father as a teen at the height of the AIDS epidemic in 1991.
Griffin will handle the screenplay adaptation and exec produce the project.
“This film is a love letter to my dad, and to the gay community that raised me. It’s a story of joy and freedom and connection,” said Griffin, “and I could not be more thrilled to have the support of 51 Entertainment...
