This interesting and engrossing 24-minute retrospective documentary offers some neat insights about George Romero's landmark zombie horror classic "Night of the Living Dead" courtesy of filmmakers Frank Daramont, Robert Rodriguez, and Guillermo del Toro. Darabount describes "Living Dead" as lightning in a bottle, de Toro likens the movie to a nightmare, and Rodriguez points out how the picture proves the point on how little it takes to tell a great story. Among the other things that are addressed are that Romero borrowed the essence from Richard Matheon's novel "I Am Legend" by putting the horror in a plain everyday setting, the colorblind casting of Duane Jones in the lead role of Ben, shooting in black and white gives the film a realistic newsreel look, and how the movie overall did several layers of something extra. Recommended viewing for fans of the film.
