Comedy takes precedence over the mystery in Crwabtrree a la Carte, and that is not a bad thing. Murdoch has to deal with his wife's increasing hormonal and unpredictable pregnancy behavior, Detective Watts and Miss Cherry work the case in a very amusing collaboration, and at the heart of it all, George and the Inspector's wife compete in a cooking challenge. It is the cooking contest that provides the major backdrop to the story with all of it played like a modern-day Food Netwotk challenge. Even with a murder to solve, the episode is largely light and entertaining and worthy of our viewing time.
