FX’s Shōgun is having a fantastic run and the series is fast approaching an epic finale. The 10-episode miniseries is based on the 1975 novel of the same name by James Clavell. Ever since the series dropped, some fans have been comparing the series to HBO’s epic fantasy show Game of Thrones. However, fans of George R. R. “It is important now to bring Betrayed to the screen with its timely yet sometime controversial themes. It is an action thriller for our times”, said Selvage, an executive producer on Amazon series The Wheel of Time.

Freevee isn’t going away, Amazon says.
With Amazon’s Prime Video launch of ads by default last month, rumors and speculation have heated up that the tech giant would no longer have a strategic need for Freevee — its free, ad-supported streaming service that is separate from Prime Video. A Feb. 21 report by Adweek, citing anonymous sources, said that Amazon will “sunset” Freevee, likely in the second quarter and possibly before the NewFronts in late April.
Asked for comment, Amazon said the Adweek report is inaccurate.
“There are no changes to Freevee,” the rep said in an email to Variety. “Amazon Freevee remains an important streaming offering providing both Prime and non-Prime customers thousands of hit movies, shows, and originals, all for free.”

Season 2 of Prime Video’s Reacher didn’t premiere until the last month of 2023, Dec. 15 to be exact, but that didn’t stop the show from becoming the streaming platform’s most-watched series of the year. While the official Nielsen data hasn’t been released for season 2 yet, Amazon revealed (via Deadline) that the three-episode premiere surpassed all of season 1’s viewership by 50%. At first glance, this seems odd for a show that appears to fly under so many people’s radar, but the numbers don’t lie – Reacher is a hit.
While Reacher is unfortunately beholden to the 10 episode-or-less season limits imposed by most streaming services, it still manages to capture the thrill of a weekly drama that audiences are clearly craving. Reacher also isn’t a series that requires a lot of past knowledge to follow. Of course there are fans coming in who have read the books...

Since her breakout Oscar-nominated role in David Fincher’s “Gone Girl,” Rosamund Pike has been on the brink of returning to “the club.” She has proven herself to be one of the most consistently compelling actors working today with highly acclaimed lead performances in films such as “A Private War,” “Radioactive,” and “I Care A Lot.” This is along with the versatility of her work in television. Pike stars in the Amazon viewership juggernaut “The Wheel of Time” and, on the other side, won an Emmy for her quiet portrait of one half of a marriage-in-crisis in Stephen Frears’ short-form series, “State of the Union”.

Ask just about any fan of Prime Video’s The Wheel of Time what the best episode of season 2 was, and chances are they’ll point to episode 5, “Damane.” Not the explosive finale, no; but rather the emotionally intense episode in which Egwene is broken by her Seanchan handler to obey unwaveringly or pay the price. It was an episode that both pleased readers of the Robert Jordan novels, who recognized the arc as a pivotal moment for Madeleine Madden’s character, and surprised viewers new to the story with its brutal depiction of enslaved channelers.
We were unable to speak with Madden when the episode originally aired because of the SAG-AFTRA strike going on at the time, but we caught up with her during the hiatus before season 3 returns recently to ask her about her experience with the critically-acclaimed episode, both as an actor giving a powerful performance...

The Wheel of Time is leaping to feature film terrain with a trilogy of films exploring the origins of Robert Jordan’s bestselling book series. Skogland directs the fantasy film from a script by Zack Stentz.
According to Deadline‘s exclusive report, the first film in The Wheel of Time trilogy is “set several millennia before the timeline of the books; the Age of Legends will chart the emergence of “the Dark One.” when the world descended into darkness and war. Exclusive: Platige Image (The Witcher) and Mount Devil, together with The Wheel of Time’s executive producer Mike Weber, are in the works on a TV series based on Otherland, the 4-book series by Tad Williams.
Otherland (the books and its TV adaptation) is described as “an epic cyberpunk-fantasy adventure.” The summary reads, “The world as we know it has an additional layer here – hyper-realistic VR arenas that have become a new place for fun, work, education but also debauchery, crime and abuse. The mysterious Otherland, supposedly another layer of the network, becomes a mere starting point for a multi-realm adventure.
Its Inception-like mechanics contain a series of realms, some uncannily resembling the world we know, others bizarre clusters of familiar creations and characters. Among them are intergalactic taverns, medieval fantasies, and battlegrounds of World War I, to name a few.”
“I believe Tad has written the definitive work on...
