How can you do so many stupid things in one episode

I have watched every episode up to today. Every time I watch it I'm more convinced it's nothing more than a soap opera - but this episode was over the top. Possible conflict of interest jeopardizing her career, selfish and stupid reaction to her ex's rebuff. I'm through. Just another Peyton Place (but so predictable it's not funny)
