Not only good laughs
davidamato-433182 July 2019
There are a few scenes in this film which gave me a few healthy good laughs. A couple of others almost made me cry. That's why I am here writing this review. Worth the time watching it. This film has a good look, a good cast, an interesting story. It certainly borrows from Quentin Tarantino but, on the other hand, Tarantino took full hands from the Italian films of the '70. The director of this film is Italian so I guess he just got something back.

I WISH I COULD LIKE IT MORE
johnugomessina10 December 2020
Yes. I wanted, I hoped to give this film more than 6 but I cannot. Sincerely I can't. I was hoping from a better work from this director I like but this film had a great potential that the director, somehow, did not take advantage of. The acting is really good but there are some problems in the story. It feels like they run out of money and they cut it short, without exploring further, without trying to find a better ending. it's still enjoyable somehow but I was hoping for something better, for a deeper exploration of the characters. The actor who played Mike, the trouble minded guy, gave a great and deep performance and make me believe in his character. The others not so much.

Honest film
juandelacruz-1076215 May 2021
It's a honest film that tries to deal with mental problems issues. Shot in a few locations it has a pretty good cast and an interesting story that, in my opinion, could have been explored further.

A schizophrenic superhero
benit_riz5 July 2019
It's a very original film with an interesting plot. Well crafted. One of the few critics I can move to this film is that it feels like the ending is 15 min before the actual ending. Not that the ending is not good but I feel it like a not so strong ending. It creates a little confusion: who is the lead? The schizophrenic brother? Or the smart and rich brother that closes the film? I would have given this film 9...

SPIDERS' MAN indie? GOT CURIOUS
I watched this movie today freshly released on Amazon Prime. I got attracted by its title mostly in this period that the Marvels' superhero is gonna hit the theatres here in US. Well, not bad, really. There are villains and there's a hero. But It's not the hero everyone is expecting. That's the forte of this film that I find worth watching. It's a two brothers comedy/thriller with a bit of drama very enjoyable and, at times, also quite funny. Its humor is subtle here and almost grotesque there, grotesque like many hilarious situations. This is a niche film that deserves attention. Good music, good acting (mostly the actor that portrays the schizophrenic brother) and very well directed. The production value is not huge (shot in few locations between Italy I could see - btw I love the Ferrari) but this is the proof you don't need much money to produce a decent film.

Engaging but with a few holes in its roof
jamesmonson3 November 2022
Good bricks building for this independent film that in the end forgets to finish the roof leaving a few holes on it. You'll get a little wet with a bit of dissatisfaction for some unresolved subplots. Yet the main theme resolves quite nicely with the sacrifice of one of the main characters provoking a big final change of heart of another main character. If change is one of the main thing that a film should have, this little film has it. The main plot is about the reunion of two brothers after the death of their father, a reunion that is spoiled by a ridiculous group of first time criminals that violates the two brothers' home. From that point is a spiral of surprises ranging from drama to comedy, from brutal to grotesque. With a good overall black comedy edge this film engages you and keeps you guessing.

Worth watching
johnsmithjanuary3 July 2019
Release on the same day as the Marvel's Spider Man Far From Home, this indie film from the Philippines is a nice discovery. It's a dark comedy but also a thriller involving mental challenged characters (both the hero and the villain, this is the thing that stands out in this film) that makes you meditate about brotherhood and the father and son relationship. I watched it on Amazon Prime and I recommend it.

THUMBS UP

Light but deep, funny but serious. I really enjoyed watching this. Good start with characters description scenes, it progresses unexpectedly and wraps up nicely. A good film.

Good film
andrejpeibos1 July 2022
A good film hat deserves a wider audience. I watched it for free on TubiTv, I really enjoyed it. The ads running every 15/20 min are spoiling the flow of your watching experience, but it's the price you pay for not paying watching it. Back to the film, it's a Philippine-Italian production (but little has been filmed in Italy), rather low budget, but that has a pretty good story to tell. Funny at times, sarcastic sometimes it shows how a bunch of good actors in a few location can make a good film if directed by a good filmmaker.

A dark comedy thriller that conveys both laughs and deep emotions
luigibecco24 October 2022
90 minutes that fly away smoothly in this little film that talks about family relationships in an unusual way. Two brothers reunite after years because of the death of their father. They are half brothers: Alberto Medina (played by Ruben Maria Soriquez, the director himself) is a rich Fil-Italian, whereas Mike Medina is a mentally challenged Filipino. The latter lives in the old big and semi-abandoned mansion of their father, while Alberto lives in Italy. After the death of their father, Alberto wants to sell the mansion and relocate his brother in a flat. But Alberto's plan are disrupted by an unforseen event that forces him to reconsider it. Shot almost entirely in the Philippines (only a few scenes in Italy, The Spiders' Man (Aka The Spiders Lap Dance) it's a dark comedy thriller that convey both laughs and deep emotions and wraps up warmly after an action apex. I recommend it.

A solid film
euphinternationalfilmfest31 October 2022
It's a solid film from the good storyteller Soriquez, which co-stars in this film that sees an awesome acting performance by the respected Philippine actor Richard Quan. The film is a well paced crescendo of jokes and grotesque situations with the music that well underlines them. It jumps from the drama of the mental illness of Mike (Richard Quan) to the comedy bits between Alberto (Ruben Maria Soriquez) and David (Lee O' Brian), from heartfelt moments (when Alberto comforts his brother Mike) to the dark humor of the brutal yet funny killings, all in a seamless way. The director Soriquez stated that this film is highly autobiographical, with real situations taken from his extended family (article from Manila Bulletin - with exception of the killings) and that he didn't want the film to be too heavy, and this is why he decided to treat the material with black humor.
