Strength. Emotional
vineethchandran21 November 2018
I can't believe how much emotional strength this show is trying to show us. A villain try to fight back and self heal himself even after doing terrible things.

The characterization of all the characters are so real, sometimes you really wonder who's the villain. And that's why I love the show even more.

This episode was brilliantly made. I'm not even expecting any action scenes anymore. Cuz this show can handle without it. The acting is brilliant, nail biting conversations and amazing dialogues.

Can I call you Wilson?
Barry_Garrick27 October 2018
For an episode that was low on action, it still managed to maintain the high level of tension and drama which was very impressive for a series based on comic book. Vincent D'Onofrio and Deborah Ann Woll deserve all the plaudits for the phenomenal scene they shared. The engaging dialogue and excellent camera work made it my favourite non-action scene of the season so far. This is definitely a very strong cast and all the actors have brilliant chemistry with each other.

Warning: Spoilers
The part where Karen talks to Fisk in his safehouse was one of the most intense scenes of the whole series.

Let the primal scream out!
lucanreyn-4017720 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This was such an engaging and enjoyable episode, jam-packed with awesome scenes. Every character was great this episode: Foggy with his wonderful public speech, Nadeem and Matt with their search for proof about Dex, Karen with her courageous meeting with Fisk (what a scene!), Dex with a role that continues to impress the hell out of me and manages to draw a lot of sympathy out of me...and Wilson Fisk, the unbelievably cold-blooded and evil villain.

Every scene of this episode felt important, lots of the acting hits its peak of the season so far (especially Vincent D'Onofrio and Deborah Ann Woll), and the ending was a huge shock.

"Rage cannot stay inside, otherwise it will become a poison, and kill you from within."

Batman esc detective skills from the marvel team
ha77y73ad9723 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Keep the story rolling and keep us wanting more. This shows where the series can go even without the fighting and violence. The detail in the tormented soul of Pointdexter is great and the relationship between him and the woman his been stalking was weird to see play out but was all he needed was for someone to listen. But Fisk has killed her and Dex is off the rails again.

The detective side of Matt Murdock played out pretty well with agent Nadeem what to get Dex some help before it's to later and at this point it's another showcase of how good bullseye can be in this series.

Still the scene stealer for this episode has to go to Karen and Wilson Fisk for the most in depth story telling by 2 people that hate each other and would have willing killed each other there and then. The emotion on both the actors/ actresses faces was intense and I expected something to start boiling over at any point. Unfortunately the FBI had to step in and cut the tension with 1 foul swoop.

Oh and also we finally find out who Matt's mum is, the only person that has ever been a mother figure in up his life after his dad had died but he just never knew......

I am shaken by this episode!
wannabe_m0v13critic31 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Everything about this episode was masterful, emotionally, and perfect!

Karen's plan, Dex's scream (honestly, that was f*ng awesome!), the plot twist of the century. The latter from which I gasped and was silent for minutes.

This season has reached the pinnacle point where S1 stands for me, which is pretty damn high.

Let's keep going :D.

Not a memorable episode, nothing special happened except 2 events

1- Face-off of Karen & Fisk. Page really made Fisk uncomfortable.

2- The ending, i was like WTF. Did thy reveal something which I didn't get completely?

Need to jump into another episode quickly.

Boredevil Vol 3.8

Bullseye shooting scene was the best part.

The way the killed Julie was so heartless. Kingpin is wicked.

A steller episode that is improving this show from ok to alright.

Again, a good performance episode. Kingpin is a villain that the MCU needs. Too bad they wasted, humiliated and embarrassed him in Echo haha!!!

Outstanding tension
qhrxby14 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
One of the benefits of having never read the comic is you can approach each episode with fresh eyes and allows its story to move you. This powerful episode does just that; it moves you. Karen boldly confronts Fisk with news of how she killed Wesley. Others pan this a weak writing or a jumbled plot twist I thought she brilliantly coerced his response, challenging him that, even though he could snap her like a twig, he should fear her. It was a desperate move given how Fisk orchestrated every move up to this point. She knew Fisk could possibly kill her ( or hammer her head on the table like he did Matt in the earlier prison confrontation) but seemed desperate enough to find something to force him back to prison. Her storyline is the episode for me.

Intense!
NeilKaBob19 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I'm giving this episode 10 stars mainly because of the scene with Karen and Wilson. While I agree with other reviewers that it was stupid of her to go see him in the first place, I understood why she did when she admitted to killing Wesley. The way that Fisk tricked her into revealing that Matt is Daredevil was amazing. That was by far the most intense scene I've ever seen in any show. I've always admired Vincent D'Onofrio, but he is absolutely AMAZING as Fisk in this series. It's a shame he didn't win an Emmy for it.

As if that scene wasn't intense enough, we find out at the end of the episode that Sister Maggie is Matt's mother, although I can't understand why she would reveal it the way she did, knowing just how well Matt's hearing is.

I don't think there's any way to top this episode.

Very Intense Episode, i loved it [8.8/10]

Warning: Spoilers
My Reaction / Review for Daredevil Season 3 Episode 8 ''Upstairs/Downstairs'' (S3. E8): Episode 7 was great and I gave it a rating of 8.8/10. Dex is still obsessed with that woman. Foggy has a plan and he needs Karen's help. Let's see if this plan will work. Nadeem wants to help Dex? That's weird. Julie says that she doesn't wanna see Dex again, he is about to have a mental breakdown, nice. The only proof that Matt has right now is the fact that Dex is suffering from serious mental health issues. Karen didn't expect that Wilson would know about Matt's secret life. She seems shocked. Dex burns all the old tapes with the psychiatrist, that's like burning his past, I like the symbolism. How can Fisk have his own camera room without the fbi agents knowing about it? Wait the Nun is Matt's mother? What?! Overall a great episode, my rating is 8.8/10.

Great Acting, Mostly Good, Sloppy Direction for Karen
barodabulldog14 January 2022
The actors delivered in the episode. Most of it was great. The minute Karen went to Fisk, I was done. What a stupid direction to take. Just a stupid move and beneath the character as this season drags out. And yeah, at this point it is becoming a drag to watch everything spiral further and further just so they can wrap it up in the last couple episodes.

What was Karen thinking
cdkarp24 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I'm going to try keep this as brief as possible , but putting all other suspense of belief aside , what exactly did Karen want to prove by going to see Fisk ? She has basically signed her death warrant , why provoke the bear , as such. It just seemed so unnecessary and a dumb way to get him convicted. It's possible I am missing the point of course , and the acting was superb , as I was genuinely angry with her, but just seemed not the smartest move. Also the killing of Julie seems to much of a tv trope move for a quality series like daredevil

Good acting
Leofwine_draca15 February 2022
Good acting is the highlight of this episode in which all of the plots are moved forward well. I love Daredevil's vulnerability in this season while Fisk's long game becomes more and more involving.

Upstairs/Downstairs
bobcobb30111 December 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Not quite the strongest episode of the show, but Daredevil is still on such a role that it doesn't matter if this didn't have the epic fight scenes we have come to expect from it.

Matt's abilities are getting more absurd by the hour (how can he understand what is in documents?) but it is fun TV so who really cares?
