Good story... almost
Snootz24 January 2018
This is a better-than-most fanfilm short. The story is well-done, the acting is good, the concept is good. But like so very many shorts it fizzles out at the end like a light saber with a short. Pfffttt over. And that's a shame.

If this was a teaser for a series, I'd give it full thumbs up. But as a stand-alone short it just leaves the viewer hanging, trying to make some kind of point but failing miserably.

Aside from that one flaw, it's excellent. I like how for once it portrays the Force as something formidable and the light saber as a secondary and non-essential weapon. But then it doesn't and we're left with yet another light saber fight in the forest (how many times are we going to see that concept repeated in these shorts? Come on people... get a new plot clue!). Still, worth a watch. I give it a 6-star "better than average" rating. They'd have to do a bit more with it to rate with the big dogs.

Very good for a fan movie

Warning: Spoilers
"Hoshino" is an American short film from 2016 that runs for 7u minutes only and that includes credits already, so really a quick watch. It takes place in the Star Wars universe as the title already suggests and you can see that director Vitale and writer Carrasco are fairly experienced already working on prestigious projects in the past, even if only in smaller positions. But their effort here is pretty impressive. The two actors are doing a decent job too and the story is fitting for the runtime. A challenging subject, but they executed it well. Music and atmosphere add quality too and so does the overall style. I certainly enjoyed the watch here and it is nice to see the new wave of Star Wars movies inspires lesser known filmmakers to make stuff like this little gem here and I am writing this as somebody who is not that much of a Star Wars fan really. You don't need to be to like these 7 minutes, but if you are, then maybe you will even watch them. Also it could have felt a bit pretentious to be honest, but the art here justifies the contents. It's on par and that's why you really want to check this one out. I give it a definite thumbs-up.

The blind shall see

I don't you usually right reviews on any movie or shows, but this one has fed me something golden with its fine interpretation of how a Jedi without his/her full faculties can overcome and own their weakness and transform it into a source of power.
