The idea of Andrew randomly getting detained (and then not detained) over having two cars in a parking lot is ridiculous. Maybe as an American I am used to cops needing to see more than a boxcutter to take someone in, but I don't know.
The show still has a special quality about it and even though we knew what the son was going to reveal at the end, it still was the perfect way to wrap up Andrew's pain and give him a brief sense of relief, only for his partner's announcement to add more heartache.
