Really great episode!

//WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD//

I loved this episode a lot. All the characters are facing very hard dilemmas and struggling to make a decision. But the choices they make and the last immoral action they have to do was quite unexpected.

Really good ending. And kudos for picking this great song "Through the eyes of a child" by Aurora.

From The Ashes We Will Rise

Warning: Spoilers
This episode felt like it was setting up for the season finale, as the race to save Raven begins with our heroins being ambushed by grounders, who intend to take there suits to survive. Just when you think that hope is lost, Echo comes racing. Say what you will about her, but you gotta admit she's a survivor. Perhaps the highlight of the episode was Kane's decision to gas his people. You can tell that it wasn't an easy choice. I like the idea for the season finale, not every show can come full circle after four seasons. I have high hopes for the future of this show, suffice to say, it's gonna be hard to topple this season. Five years in space is going to be a challenge, to say the least. Than again, they were born there. After the hell they went through on the ground, Space is gonna be serene(yeah right). Also, they might wanna give the bunker a heads up before going along with this, I mean there spots were reserved. So you might want to bring back some of the people they threw out. Preferably before they wake up.

I don't think it would be feedback if I didn't point out a flaw. In this case, it's Abby. She seems suicidal. I mean yes, she want's to clear a spot for someone else and that's noble. But she's a doctor. Who's more valuable than that? Doesn't she know that she would be a major asset if she stayed. It just seemed out of character.

Just 100
tenshi_ippikiookami18 June 2017
Again, with a difficult decision. Only 100 (again) can survive from Skaikru. The rest will have to give up the bunker and wait for death outside. But giving up what they believed was theirs will not be easy. However Octavia and the Grounders will not give them any other option. Or will they have?

What could have been an uneven episode, as the plot is again about choosing 100 survivors, is turned upside down by clever plot twists and great use of the characters. Kane or Jaha have their time to shine and we get to enjoy their character's development and understand the decisions they take. The episode does a great use of the set up and raises the tension slowly to a surprising ending. Sometimes it is all a little bit in-your-face, subtlety be damned, but in general, the dealing of the moral dilemmas and subjects of "The 100" is done in a great manner. The choices taken make sense and the ideas presented quite interesting.

And "The Chosen" leaves the door open for a great finale for season 4. A season that developed in the first episodes in fits and starts has reached its peak in the best possibly way.

This is how we save our people
antonellarzp18 May 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Well, this was a really surprisingly episode. I like the way that everyone is trying to save humanity and like Clarke says: there's no correct way. We have so many interpretations from all the characters that it is easy to love some of them (for me Bellamy and Kane were my favorites of the episode, alongside Octavia) or hate them (in my opinion, Jaha was very hateful, but he had A good point too, like the others), but you can take one side of all we have and there's something that I really love for the show, the way they show that everyone is gray, not just black and white. The end was a complete shock, I've been expected so many ways to Skaikru get rid of the black rain, but I never expected that the young ones will return to the ark, so it's an interesting point for the season finale.

+ The balance with the characters.

+ Nate's dad and Abby's wish.

+ Jaha becoming aware.

+ The end.

+ Octavia's move as a grounder.

  • Was quite slow, though.

A Roller Coaster Ride
shaunaruss16 June 2018
Warning: Spoilers
As I prepared for Season 5, I watched the entire series again and I'm really glad that I did. I have enjoyed the series even more than the first time around because I really paid attention to each episode and I'm more impressed than ever that we have a science fiction show of this quality. Yes, it does have it's weak points and errors, but it's written in such a way that we are able to get to know the characters and rather we're cheering or booing for individuals, we have some actual emotion for these characters and the talented people who portray them.

Having said how very; much I've enjoyed this series didn't stop me from noticing that this particular episode, even with high drama/emotion, some good fights and very poignant moments, seemed to drag by because of certain scenes. Overall, this episode was exciting and really held my attention, but it seemed that some of the slower areas were really unnecessary. These long debates about how could I have done better, been a better person, killed fewer people, made everyone love me, etc., etc. are real attention killers when the show has moved on from the problem under discussion. It seems unnecessary and unrealistic for the self-doubt to be so emphasized. Many of the characters are responsible and caring leaders - yes, there are bad decisions made, regretted, talked to death, and then FINALLY moved on from. There is generally enough discussion when decisions are being made, that the rehash could be dialed back significantly. All these characters have enough going on in their lives that it seems wasteful to go over decisions that can't be changed now and have already been viewed and talked about from every angle.

But, all the horror, monster, science fiction, alien invasion type shows that I enjoy have their own weak areas, but The 100 shows enough strengths to keep me happy. And, I do appreciate it when they dial back the close-up reveal of intimate relationships. That is NOT why I watch such shows as this and it makes me think twice (or more) before suggesting that a young teen should watch this show. Save it for the romance stories or porn, it's not needed in this series.

One of the best episodes
singhpriyanshu-4485514 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The 100 has given us all kinds of emotions. This episode was up there with the best. "The eyes of the child" playing when Kane and Thalonius remove people not in the list, Raven sitting there with no hope at all and her friends arriving cause they won't leave her alone. This show was one of the best.

Everything is settled but..

Why are these stupid Skaikru still lives. Why are they being like this. This is what makes the finale worse. Make sky people look dumb. But overall story is still great.

  • No wonder they hate Skaikru. They are so annoying and act like they are god who decides everything.

I hate that Niylah gets a spot. Not that I don't like her, but it's ridiculous that she steals a spot from Skaikru when they are going to be running the bunker
Neptune1654 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
It was illogical to have 1100 mindless , skill less grounders in a ark to save human race from a apocalyptic event , you need engineers , technicians , doctors who can sustain and restart life and teach new generations same skills , all grounders are capable of is killing people and superstition. They made the best decision and also the decision then 99% of people on earth would make including every single grounder leader. This never made sense to me. All of the Sky people should've been included. They found the bunker and they won the conclave. The remaining slots should be divided evenly among the other clans. That would be fair. Moreover, it is standard practice to be 10% over capacity if necessary/ in an emergency. I personally (given this situation that Octavia was in) still would have shared the bunker, but only allow 80 from each the 11 Grounder clans and kept 320 Sky People, which totals to 1,200. Keep in mind, Octavia was the warrior chosen for her people, but most other Sky People (if they somehow won) probably wouldn't have shared the bunker with the exception of just some with the Tree People or Ice Nation. Going in this manner, the Sky People would only loose about 150 but still share a majority of the spots to the Grounders, that way both the Grounders and the Sky People as a whole would survive. Also, the Sky People could still keep the bunker running (it might take more than 100 who know what they are doing) and Octavia wouldn't basically be screwing over her people and sentencing them to a death sentence both short term and long term. It's nice to see how experience of people like Indra who is the War Chief(leader)of Trikru Clan for almost two decades, is coming to surface and makes a difference, while our amateur main characters are just failing more and more as things get more complicated. And as I said many times; Kane is the best of Skikru.

The moment that they appear to save raven is one of my favorite all my favorite characters are there
Neptune1654 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The show has done the whole killing 200-400 people all at once at least 10 times by this point, and yet it never gets easier seeing it happens, and this 1 brought back memories of the 1st time they did it back in Season 1. Literally this reminds me of the first episode when the girl killed the chancellors son its like do you kill her? Do you blame her? Like with do you do nothing seems right. So this felt like a circle happening for me. No right answer. I cannot wait to see echo's face in space 😂 if she goes. My first reaction when Clarke states they are going to space was, "Really? Not this again." I'm watching next season but with skepticism. And where were all the guns in this episode? I know the writers did this to move the plot along, but why did Clarke, Bellamy, Murphy and Emori leave the bunker without guns? The world is coming to an end and people panic, what were they thinking? Besides Clarke's handgun, why weren't there other guns within the bunker for Skaikru? Then they could have fought back. I understand Octavia's decision to equally share the bunker but I don't agree with it. The Skaikru leaders should really talk to each other. I would have Octavia state that Skaikru people take the bunker and share the remaining slots with the other clans. Octavia would have seemed justified in her decision as the winner of the conclave and the other clans, thinking they were headed for death anyway, would still see her as a compassionate hero. In five years, the devastated landscape will need advanced knowledge to reclaim what is left. The clans don't seem to have that type of survival knowledge. They need Skaikru to survive more than ever. Besides, Skaikru will also be needed to operate and repair a 100 year-old bunker.
