Thick Air by Ivy Jelisavac

The stories about sexual abuse are still modern themes, as some of them can be either fiction stories or even inspired by real events. Most of these stories can be realistically touching to see how the main characters, would move forward after they have been sexually abused. The main characters would choose either seeking vengeance to kill the person who destroyed them, or they would try to be stronger without forgetting the pain they've been through. Sometimes the main characters would succeed, others would commit suicide to not have anymore the burden. The filmmaker Ivy Jelisavac explored this theme in 2016, with her short movie "Thick Air". The movie's plot: Kelly arrives in a desolate town, to face Harrison who sexually abused her. The short movie tells the story in a psychological way to see, how the main characters would react once they would see each other again. Kelly is presented as an angry character, who would confront Harrison without let anything go away. She is a strong character who knows how to take important decisions, as on her arm there's a tattoo which says: "When the past is forgotten, the present is unforgettable". Harrison is shown as a character who clearly knows what he has committed, but he would not admit his mistake. Instead he would try to escape from his burden, as he would take then a clear decision. The desolated town is shown as the place where Kelly and Harrison, are the only one to exist in the story. It is also where they would face each other, without meeting anyone else. Thick Air is a reflective short movie, which has potential to be developed as a feature movie.
