One could see, given proper execution, how the themes within Blackpowder and Guilt might have been interesting. Alas, any potential intrigue is lost in a muddle of amateurish and stilted direction and acting that never allows one to fall into the story. The "show don't tell" technique and minimal dialogue could have been laudable, except this may have been a case where a little MORE might have been needed, as if director Faran Moradi and his crew assumed we were as close to their story and themes as they are.

Stunning visuals and storytelling

A simple yet effective story that really demonstrates the 'show don't tell' technique through minimal use of dialogue except for where it is needed. The story is very easy to follow and is not drawn out any longer than it needs to be. The acting was not over the top and I would commend the actors of the children for creating believable characters. The scenes are masterfully put together, no scene is longer than it needs to be, and the music complements the onscreen story.
