Wakakozake

Warning: Spoilers
Normally I'd start a review with a paragraph outlining the plot and giving some details about the protagonists; here that is a little hard as the entire series can be described in a short sentence; protagonist Murasaki Wakako is a twenty six year old woman who likes to get something to eat and drink after work. In each two minute episode she goes somewhere different to try various foods; in each place she tells us what she likes about that food and why the drink she chose accompanies it so well… and that is it; no action, no romance, just a woman talking about the food and drink she is having.

As the episodes are only two minutes each the complete lack of plot doesn't matter; in fact it is part of the series' charm. The animation is decent considering it is such a short series and I liked the character designs even if Murasaki's eyes are rather strange. Voice actress Miyuki Sawashiro does a great job as Murasaki; the only character to speak of. Be warned though; the way the food and drink is likely to make you want to try it yourself! Overall I'd say this series is worth watching.

Amazingly smart show.

The show has great ideas and execution. It's simple and short, but make no mistake, it makes a strong statement. Wakako, a strong white-collar woman, goes out and eats & drinks, just by herself. She's interested only in spending that lovely moment by herself, and has no time for distractions. Genius show.
