There's a lot of goings on at Granchester.

The fallout of Gary's death is far reaching, and has a massive affect on all around.

This is a terrific series finale, a season long story arc comes to an end here, it's been a very satisfying conclusion.

It's very well paced, it's moving, it's energetic, overall it's an incredibly good conclusion, everyone has a major part to play, terrific scenes between Mrs Maguire and Amanda, Sidney and Geordie, and of course Leonard.

Neil Morrissey once again proves his worth, but Norton again is wonderful, he is missed.

Knee trembler's only a Schilling..... Thanks but I've just had my lunch, Leonard delivers arguably the show's best line, we were all in stitches watching that.

Loved it, 9/10.

A little better....good acting, but awkward scenes
ohlabtechguy9 May 2016
This show has good actors, but the story lines are often quite unreal and unbelievable. One instance is when the vicar and his detective friend climbed a dangerous stone steeple in the middle of the night. Also, the vicar's character is a huge stretch. Really, are we to assume the clergy drown their sorrows in blatant drinking, smoking and women? If we assume that, then we have to assume they are seriously flawed and should NOT be members of the clergy. And should we really believe the vicar would slug and pounce on his most cherished detective pal, then later reconcile and embrace in an extended bear hug? Huge disconnect there and very awkwardly staged. All these third rate Masterpiece shows cannot match the realness of Julian Fellowes and Downton Abby. Nothing seems awkward or totally hard to believe on that show and yet it worked beautifully.

Beautiful ending

I loved this season finale so much. My heart broke for the one character whose heart got broken but that person's character development was wonderful. I am very much looking forward to series 3.

Sidney has hit the booze, neglected his parish duties, even tries it on with the barmaid. He has been affected by Gary's execution and turmoil in his personal life including his strained friendship with Geordie.

Sam Milburn who got Abigail Redmond pregnant returns to ask Sidney for forgiveness. Abigail's father threatens to kill Milburn and soon Milburn disappears. Sidney goes to Geordie for help and they find out that he was grooming another under aged girl.

Leonard meanwhile finds disappointment in his own personal life. If someone is going to be left forlorn, make sure it is the gay guy. However he does find out that the Archdeacon knew that Milburn preyed on young girls and covered it up. The Archdeacon is left in a precarious position.

Pregnant Amanda leaves her husband and risks being disowned by her father as she flees to Sidney.

There is no mistaking as the story arc concludes we revisit the Catholic Church historical abuse scandals. In this case it is the Church of England hiding its dirty laundry. Geordie is also defiant in his views on capital punishment even though he realised that Gary's punishment might had been unjust however he his not without compassion to the Redmond's.
