The first...and the most unusual.

"Conshelf Adventure" is the first episode of "The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau"...a wonderful series of specials that were aired periodically in the 1960s-70s.

Unlike later episodes of the series, this one is not as splashy and full of sea life as the others. This is NOT a complaint....just an observation about the style of this particular show. It's a scientifically minded episode about an experiment in long term saturation diving. Previously, Cousteau and his crew experimented with Conshelf I and II. Now, with Conshelf III, a group of men will life in cramped quarters over 300 feet below the surface. The film chronicles their experiences and scientific experimentation done by and on these men to see the effects of such high pressure life.

As a certified diver, I found all this very interesting...though I know the average person would rather see cute sea critters instead. Overall, a fascinating and important look at the early days of this dangerous diving.

If you are interested in this, like many episodes of Cousteau's various programs, it can be found on YouTube.
