An acute social drama interspersed with a thriller, telling about the difficult everyday life of representatives of an ancient profession. The cross-cutting plot, the action of which, apparently, takes place in Odessa, is interspersed with various episodic moments, such as a maniac with a crazy look appearing in a couple of frames. Of the characteristic elements, one unusual aspect can be noted - the typical "perestroika" insanity, racketeering, brawls and other things, here in a strange way combined with the still purely Soviet and, by such standards, sometimes naive, staging of the story.
Some characters also stand out. So one of the key figures, the pimp, is presented here as a kind of aging intellectual, a fighter for "high morals" in an initially specific environment, contrasted with various "unbridled rabble." However, as usual, appearances are deceptive - a comrade leading a thoughtful, philosophical conversation will not blink an eye if the next day he suddenly needs to quietly eliminate an arrogant competitor by involving a random and inconspicuous schoolgirl from yesterday. The soundtrack completes the picture in the form of various Western tracks of that time, interspersed with one of the songs of the "Combination" group.
