So... Who Wants a Hug?
slak96u4 April 2022
The change in the focus of the narrative of each episode, narrowing the storyline to a couple characters an episode improves the series immensely. It really is a bit incredible that the series pivoted the way that it did, from a more broad story telling narrative, to one that is more dialed in. Most series that attempt such a drastic change don't pull it off, let alone do it so successfully.

Off Ramp is, in my opinion, more successful than the previous two episodes, in that the plot is sharper. The focus on trying to help people recover from indoctrination, only to essentially do the same thing is profound. Dark episode, great twist.

Ok Episode

I suppose this episode is important and relevant to the whole story but I was looking forward to seeing what's going on in the new town so coming back to the first season type of episode for a whole episode was too much for me. In that way it tested my patience but I know it'll be worth it in the end and hopefully they'll focus more on the new town from now on.

It's an episode based on Laurie and her son and those are the characters that I like the least so that is probably why it wasn't my cup of tea too I must admit. But if you like those characters you will really enjoy this episode since it's really focused on them and their current situation.

Warning: Spoilers
Episode 3 focuses on Laurie and Tom. The acting is great and the directors and writers did an amazing job. What a cool introduction! I love the experimental use of music and sudden nothingness.

"Off Ramp" has so many fantastic scenes in store, wow! I guess my favourite one is when Susan is reunited with her family. The piano version of "Where Is My Mind" is just... indescribably marvellous.

Laurie is a great character and her passion for what she's doing is vigorously acted by Amy Brenneman. Tom has never been my favourite character, but I understand his thoughts, fears and aims. I think that all what he wants is a stable family.

I love this episode. It's once again well-written and the use of music is masterful throughout. "The Leftovers" is a gem and one of my favourite TV series ever! Props to Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrotta and everyone who is working on this incredible piece of great entertainment!

one of the best episodes so far

Warning: Spoilers
Wow, episode 3 of The Leftovers' second season was intense. The story of Laurie and Tom's efforts to rescue lost souls was so powerful, and it was really interesting to see the different ways it affected each of them. Laurie's determination to spread the word about the dangers of the Guilty Remnant was admirable, but also heartbreaking to see the toll it took on her. And Tom's infiltration of the cult was so suspenseful - it was clear that he was in over his head, but I couldn't help but root for him. The twists and turns in this episode were unexpected and kept me on the edge of my seat. I can't wait to see what happens next.
