Adapted from the Radio 4 show this is a bittersweet comedy with Paul Whitehouse playing most of the characters, some in heavy prosthetic makeup.

Whitehouse plays a range of characters such as the obese Graham with an unhealthy dependence on his mother. Maurice a Jewish neighbour who both assists and irritates his afro-caribbean neighbour. Ray a 1960s pop star reminiscing about bi-sexual groupies and working with Marc Bolan.

These characters are visited by Liz (Esther Coles) the kindly community mental health nurse who is stretched to breaking point as she provides some companionship and medication to her patients. Yet Liz has issues of her own, in the opening episode we sense she is lonely, separated from her husband who does even regularly visit the kids.

Liz is irritated by some her patients that she has to see such as the cat woman whose house smells of cat food and cat poo.

The series had a subtext of of exploring the world of community health care with some laughs but I think this was more bittersweet than comedy.
