Really Bland Shorts
Holidays (2016)
** (out of 4)
This anthology film is based around holidays as the title clearly points out. Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Halloween, Christmas and New Year's Eve are the subjects.
HOLIDAYS is a very, very disappointing movie on so many levels. Most anthology movies are mixed in regards to quality because you usually get some good stories, some fair ones and some bad. It's really rare for all the stories to be good but it's even rarer for all the stories to be so bland, which is the case with this film.
Again, I was really shocked at how boring I found this film. The Halloween segment from Kevin Smith is probably the best as a webcam pimp finds his women paying him back for mistreating them. The sadistic black comedy helps make it work but even this short isn't "good" by any stretch of the imagination. The Christmas episode with Seth Green is also decent as is the final one with Lorenza Izzo.
The biggest problem is that all of the stories try to be different and bizarre. All of them are what I'd call original because of how different they are but that doesn't make them entertaining. Most of them are quite confusing or at least make very little sense and even worse are some of the endings. There's honestly nothing that sticks out about any of them and you'll be wishing time would pass faster to get to the end.
