Back in March of 2023, we reported on the death of the greatest boutique pop culture poster company, Mondo. Granted, the company still exists in name only underneath the Funko brand, but Mondo as we once knew it (including a majority of the founders and core staff that made the company possible) is over. Fortunately, a savior appeared in the form of ... the team that gave us Mondo in the first place and the wonderful weirdos (Elijah Wood and Daniel Noah) over at SpectreVision. Former Mondo creative directors Spencer Hickman, Eric Garza, Mitch Putnam, and Mo Shafeek joined CEO Jenny Jacobi to form the new company, Mutant, which will produce limited-edition artwork, posters, soundtracks on vinyl, collectibles, events, and more.
One of Mutant's first releases is the original motion picture soundtrack for "Lisa Frankenstein," so you can relive all the glorious, creepy '80s goodness whenever the urge to build your own undead boyfriend beckons.

Sterling K. Brown has been a gem onscreen for years, and finally, he’s getting his Oscar due.
The “This Is Us” alum and “American Crime Story” Emmy winner landed his first Academy Award nomination for the dark comedy “American Fiction.” Brown stars as novelist Monk’s (Jeffrey Wright) eccentric queer brother Cliff, whom Brown described to IndieWire as “a hot mess.” And Brown wraps in comedy, drama, and all the complexities in his performance, making Cliff more than just the sidelined comic relief. It’s no wonder Brown is a 2024 Best Supporting Actor nominee.
To some, it would be easy to remember Brown as the married sibling with kids on “This Is Us.” But even that undermines his performance that elevated an NBC drama series into prestige TV with each scene he was in.
Brown humbly told IndieWire that “as an actor, it’s nice to have a job,...

Bruce Willis has been very busy of late making films like they are going out of fashion. With at least a dozen releases planned for 2022, Gasoline Alley is the second for him with writer-director Edward Drake, after last year’s action-drama American Siege. Their third collaboration and the yet-unscheduled Paradise City is still in post-production and stars Pulp Fiction’s John Travolta. Perhaps all this high-volume VOD film-making provides an outlet for the Die Hard star to team up with ‘old screen pals’ again, while sharing the frame with new ones?
In gritty noir-ish crime thriller Gasoline Alley, Willis stars alongside Luke Wilson and Final Destination‘s Devon Sawa. However technically, Willis is hardly in it to warrant headlining status, something fans will be disappointed with if they are expecting a silver-haired version of cop John McClane.

Guns N’ Roses welcomed surprise guest Dave Grohl to perform “Paradise City” during the band’s Saturday set at Napa Valley, California’s BottleRock festival. However, due to a strict curfew, organizers pulled the plug on the all-star collaboration midway through the performance.
With the Foo Fighters scheduled to headline Sunday night at the fest, Grohl — who years ago lent Axl Rose his throne, and previously performed “Paradise City” with the band in Tulsa in 2017 — made a surprise appearance for the Appetite for Destruction classic, Guns N’ Roses’ final song of their headlining set.

Guns N’ Roses played their first show since the start of the pandemic Saturday night at Hershey Park Stadium in Hershey, Pennsylvania. The band basically stuck with the standard setlist they’ve been doing since reuniting with Slash and Duff McKagan in 2016 for the Not In This Lifetime tour, though they did premiere a cover of the Stooges’ “I Wanna Be Your Dog” during the portion of the night where Duff takes over on lead vocals.

Quiver Distribution isn’t a major name in the entertainment business, but that is gradually changing as the Canadian entertainment company has managed to snag a series of notable projects and used the pandemic to bolster its library of content.
Launched in 2019 by former eOne executive Berry Meyerowitz and former Lionsgate Films president Jeff Sackman, Quiver enjoyed success with the release of the Kevin James comedy “Becky” and “Crisis,” a thriller starring Gary Oldman and Evangeline Lily, both of which were released in select theaters before rising to the top of the VOD charts. “Crisis” also took the top spot at the speciality box office when it was released on Feb. 26. Quiver’s upcoming releases include the off-beat comedy “The Exchange” (pictured) and “The Survivalist,” an action-thriller starring John Malkovich and Jonathan Rhys Meyers. The goal, Meyerowitz told Variety, is to release one to two movies monthly, which will add up to roughly 20 movies annually.

Exclusive: In an unusual move, but one that speaks to fluidity in the distribution landscape and increasing demand for foreign-language series, LA-based film firm The Exchange is launching world sales (excluding Iran) at the upcoming Cannes virtual market on hit Iranian TV series The Frog.
The series follows Ramin, a man dissatisfied with a life of low-paying petty crime in Tehran, who determines with friends to rob an enormously wealthy former classmate. However, the theft goes fatally awry and Ramin finds himself entangled in a dangerous web of deceit involving the police, local gangsters, and greedy family members.
It’s rare for TV series to be launched at film markets. But the very concept of a market has been fraying in recent years, especially in the Covid era. Sales increasingly take place across the year and traditional film companies are increasingly working in TV.

True Detective star Stephen Dorff and The Edge of Seventeen‘s Blake Jenner have joined the Hawaiian production of Paradise City, which reps John Travolta and Bruce Willis’ first movie since 1994’s Pulp Fiction.
Willis plays renegade bounty hunter, Ryan Swan, who must carve his way through the Hawaiian crime world to wreak vengeance on the kingpin, played by Travolta, who murdered his father. I’m told the project is billed as being similar to Miami Vice but with bounty hunters instead of cops. Thai actress and model Praya Lundberg also stars.

It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost three decades since John Travolta and Bruce Willis have worked together, actually together, on a movie set. They did collaborate in the Look Who’s Talking movies, but they were never on screen together. In this upcoming movie that almost sounds like another Punisher, Travolta will play a crime boss while Willis will play a bounty hunter that’s looking to take down the boss for having his father killed, or killing his father. Seriously, the fact that Willis has been so busy over the past few years knocking out less than stellar movies

The movie stars Justin Hartley (“This Is Us”), Avan Jogia (“Zombieland: Double Tap”), Jennifer Irwin (“Bad Teacher”) and Ed Oxenbould (“Wildlife”). Emmy Award-winner Tim Long (“The Simpsons”) penned the script.
Financial terms of the sale were not disclosed.
“Dan, Tim and the entire cast have created a laugh-out-loud comedy that audiences will unquestionably go crazy for,” said Quiver Distribution Co-Presidents Berry Meyerowitz and Jeff Sackman.

Ash Avildsen is earning much cred as a multi-media mogul.

“Paradise City,” a TV series which features late actor Cameron Boyce’s final on-screen appearance, just debuted on Amazon Prime Video. And as is customary for almost every streaming series that drops all at once these days, questions are already being asked about a potential Season 2 for the drama — including how it could possibly continue without its leading man.
“We’re definitely hoping to shoot a second season before the year is over, but there are a few factors we have to get through to see how soon that can happen,” series creator Ash Avildsen told Entertainment Weekly in an interview published Thursday. “With Cameron, his character really is the heartbeat for the audience. “No Cover,” a new competitive series backed by production entity Hit Parader, is promising to deliver the “next great unsigned original artist.” To aid in the search, the televised show has recruited celebrity judges Alice Cooper, Bishop Briggs, Gavin Rossdale, Lzzy Hale and Tosin Abasi.
Differentiating itself from shows like ABC’s “American Idol” and NBC’s “The Voice” — which mainly focuses on a singer’s interpretations of preexisting hit songs — “No Cover” judges artists and bands performing entirely original music. Season one will be shot inside West Hollywood’s legendary Troubadour and on location at the Sunset Marquis Hotel.
The winning artist or band will secure a six-figure recording contract with Sumerian Records, booking agency representation from UTA, management from the Shelter Music Group, festival slots via Danny Wimmer Presents, studio time at Nightbird Recording Studios (housed inside the Sunset Marquis), new gear from Gibson, branding endorsements, licensing opportunities and more.

The late Cameron Boyce can be seen in his final on-screen performance in the teaser trailer for “Paradise City.” Watch the embed above.
“Paradise City” centers on the lives of a rock star with ties to the occult and a young rookie kid who idolizes him, as they collide through their broken homes built by the music business. The former Disney star passed away last year at age 20 from an epilepsy attack.
“Cameron Boyce stars as a leading character ‘Simon’ in all eight episodes of the first season of Paradise City,” reads a post on the show’s official Instagram account. “The series was filmed just months before his tragic passing. He gave us an incredible performance as a young musician, band leader and aspiring Diy executive in the music business.”
A portion of the series’ profits will be donated to The Cameron Boyce Foundation, which was created by his parents.
