Prosopon

By: Conor Murray

A very heartwarming story told through wonderful animation and sound editing. Leaving the chaos of the riot behind him, a riot policeman holding a baton enters a dark alleyway. As he begins to question his role and impact in the situation, he is startled by an old woman brandishing a metal spoon and pot. Initially rejecting her playful advances, the policeman eventually realizes that the old woman is somewhat lost in the world, not recognizing the dangerous riot she is living in and simply looking for a companion. Dropping to his knees, the officer joins her in her innocent world, forgetting his worries to simply enjoy the little things. In just four minutes you feel for the characters and the situation without any overt exposition or cheap tricks. Despite any dialogue the storyline is very powerful and touching. "Prosopon" is an official selection of the New York City Independent Film Festival and will be shown during the festival's run from October 12-18, 2015.
