Indie slasher spoof
Leofwine_draca29 January 2018
Warning: Spoilers
THE ORANGE MAN is a mildly workable indie slasher spoof about a killer prowling the woods whose choice of weapon is...a bag of oranges. Yep, you heard that right, and there's even some stupid back story about him being an orange salesman back in the day. The film's "humour" comes from the casting of a bunch of middle-age overweight guys as the leads who go camping in the woods, instead of the usual attractive teenagers. They even take part in some skinny dipping. It's very low rent and very bizarre, but neither funny nor horrific.

Ominous with a few redeeming factors
ru_thaker27 November 2020
The reviews are quite spot on here. It 'is' quite dire but it is also quite funny too. The acting is unfortunate. Really bad mostly. I'd say the only redeeming factor is the scenery & music. It's not bad. It does have a electronic 80s vibe, as someone mentioned in the reviews- Giorgio Moroder/John Carpenter, it does! I thought of Georgio Moroder, more basic version. I managed to watch it all the way through somehow because Gerald is quite likable & just to know what happens in the end.

God awful film....

Disregard Doug Stephenson's review...he must have obviously been reviewing another film. The actual film is full of elementary/high school level cheesy dialogue, horrendous acting and virtually no scary scenes.

Avoid this at ALL costs. Except if you are forced to watch because you are a critic and you absolutely HAVE to review it or else you would lose your job or if someone dares you to (if I were you I would willingly lose the bet...)

As for me, let's just say I unwillingly gave up 90 minutes so you don't have to.

I will write as little as I can about this....form of Torture I guess. I think a root canal or being water boarded for 95 minutes would have been less painful then sitting through this film.

There literally is NO PLACE to begin to explain how bad this movie is. QUITE LITERALLY!

I think the guy who gave this film an 8/10 and went on to detail the tremendous aspects of "The Orange Man" either is the Brother or lover of the maker of this film. Or, he's blind and deaf.

In a word......Absymal. Take the guy who also mentions the champion of this piece of garbage's advise as well as mine and steer WAY clear of this film.

My 10 year old nephew made a 15 minute film with his IPhone 5 about him and his friends playing in his newly built treehouse. It was much scarier then this film.

Be warned, 95 minutes you will never recover and you would honestly be better off tied to a chair in a basement being forced to eat your Dogs feces.

Ive seen it like 5 times at this point. Its a little offensive at times but whatever. Some parts are really funny, like when reggie peed all over his pal, i mean yeah its dumb and cheesy but whatever dude no thought is original.

You should definitely watch it, if not for the comedy then for peter watkins. Hes the best character in any movie ever.

Rather Excellent Comedy Horror Spoof - For Anyone With A Childish Sense Of Humour!
omendata15 May 2018
I havent seen my brother laugh so loud for a long time at the toilet wheelchair pissing scene.

It was very original and almost like Richard Pryor had returned if he had it would have been his scene.

Some gore , more childish laughs than you can shake a stick at; a very unusual spoof comedy remix indeed. Mad John Carpenter/Giorgio Moroder Style 80'S music at the most inappropriate times but it makes it funnier!

We have the usual protagonists - The boring guy, the overconfident playboy type guy, the fat unpopular guy and the black disabled guy - what couldn't work - I am sure you have some of those in your circle of friends at school!

It breaks a few moulds and more... With lines like:- "Some hot babes waitin for a stud like me!" "$300....its like a slave shack!" "Thats 2 ass whoopins in one day" "Its always the black guy that dies first" "It just needs a little lube , you know I always carry a bit of that with me!" "We are 2000 miles away from town, not even the Jehovahs witnesses could find us out here!" The snapper turtle biting Jimmy's knob - I laughed so hard i think I nearly crapped myself!

C'mon how can any of the reviewers say it wasnt funny - they must have had their sense of humour operation successfully performed. It is very, very juvenile but that is part of its charm. If you still have as bit of the kid in you , you will appreciate it like I and my brother did!

Little homages like the piggy scene from Deliverance lol Its a spoof and it works well if you have a sense of humour!!! The scene of "death by bag of oranges" - Priceless - I did crap myself at that scene!

It actually reminds me of some of my pals - 40 year old guys acting like teenagers - very funny. Contrary to what others say I thought the acting was actually not bad at all especially Glenn Harston the wheelchair bound Richard Pryor clone and Jim Plovanich the would be Playboy - certainly better than movies like Pacific Rim II for sure - John Boyega roflmao!

I am also basing my review on the fact these guys put this together with only $20,000. Superb!!!

Cant wait to see Stephen Folkers other movies if this is anything to judge by!

So stupid and hilarious
jacksonandria-2389916 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I love a good, stupid, silly horror movie. The Orange Man is worth the watch if you want to turn your brain off and enjoy completely mindless fun. It doesn't take it itself seriously at all. All the characters are likeable ( besides Pervy Jimmy) and I was rooting for them! Especially Reggie!

I was cry laughing when they didn't edit out any of the shots with all the cars and RVs in the park while the orange man was killing people lolol.

My only questions are why didn't the orange man ask them to buy oranges before he killed and what are those oranges made of that made them so hard?? 😂

I love this movie.

Not Great, But Did Not Hate It
Boaz77711 September 2016
Is The Orange Man a "fascinating motion picture"? Not in my opinion.

Is The Orange Man "awful"? Again, not in my opinion.

Would I give this film a 7 out of 10 comparing it to Citizen Kane? No.

Would I give this film a 7 out of 10 comparing it to Halloween? No.

I'm giving it this score in relation to other very low budget slasher type films. I guess they had a budget of $20,000.

Parts of The Orange Man are pretty good, in fact. The best part, for me, is the interaction of the main character and his three friends. They are not teenagers, which in itself is refreshing, however, they often act as if they were teenagers, which is kind of funny. Some of the other cast members do a good job and I thought that the camera work was good, especially when compared to other films like this.

I think that the other two reviews are either too generous or too condemning. Overall, I'd have to say that I liked it.

Your (sic) next
nogodnomasters5 November 2017
Warning: Spoilers
The film opens in 1987 with "Crazy" Pete Walkins attempting to sell his hand picked, hand packed, quality oranges for $2.00 a bushel. Folks have stopped buying his oranges, which seem to have a smell. He has completed his list of "Potenchal Cli-nts." Pete goes on a killing rampage and we jump 27 years later as depressed Gerald (Dave Juehring) and his three friends opt to have a get-away weekend in a park by a lake. To no surprise Crazy Pete, is still alive and hasn't aged. His two weapons are an iron hook he has on his left hand and a bag full of oranges for tossing or whacking.

The film is low budget and on the campy side. Dialogue was raw and fresh. Film was more humor than horror. Filmed in Iowa, not exactly known for oranges and includes Jimmy (Jim Plovanich) a man with a very thick NY/NJ accent. I was impressed for what they accomplished on a $20,000 estimated budget.

Guide: F-word. Implied sex. Rear nudity.

The Orange Man is a fascinating motion picture That makes you wonder what would you do at your breaking point.
purpledragon6113 March 2016
The Orange Man I believe Is Stephen Folker's Best Movie yet. Insanely engaging. The Casting was perfect and they personified their characters with energy and proficiency. The characters are beautifully written and so vividly captures individual lifestyles and personal tragedies.Dave Juehring absolutely shines as a man who's life seems to have hit a low point. All you want to do is hug him, love him, after his rejections from his own wife.Ben Rollins portrayal Of the Orange is out standing making you think. WTF is wrong with him ,Thomas Ely Sage,Glenn Harston and Jim Plovanich are not to be forgotten in their portrayal of different type of friends. The scenes between them all are amongst the best in the movie. There was not one actor who did not live up to the great expectations.Beautifully shot, exceptionally well- acted...a truly great movie
