The mask. The music. The sequels. There are many memorable things about the Halloween franchise, but none of them have had quite the same impact as a then-20-year-old Jamie Lee Curtis, daughter of Hollywood royalty, who created an everygirl so iconic, she’s returning to the role nearly 40 years after the original.
In 1978, Curtis made her film debut as resilient teenage babysitter Laurie Strode in Halloween. It’s a simple enough story: A young man, Michael Myers, kills his sister on Halloween in 1963 and is locked away in an institution. Fifteen years later, he escapes and returns to his hometown, where he terrorizes and kills a group of teenagers one by one, until he’s stopped (or at least slowed down) by Laurie.
What makes Laurie iconic is the sense of realness Curtis imbues her with. It’s not just that she’s the typical example of the “final girl” horror movie trope, or even that she...

There was no way to predict that a low-budget, independent horror movie with a no-name cast would go on to become one of the most influential films in cinematic history. But 40 years ago, John Carpenter built the framework for one of the most successful franchises ever and helped create the “slasher” genre with the 1978 smash Halloween.
In the ensuing years, Michael Myers (aka The Shape) became one of culture’s preeminent boogeymen, Carpenter’s haunting theme continued to set an ominous mood and the fictional town of Haddonfield dealt with a serious body count problem. While the motivations for Michael’s actions grew more convoluted, he remained a terrifying force four decades later.
Now, with a new Halloween in the works from director David Gordon Green and writer Danny McBride, featuring original star Jamie Lee Curtis as the ultimate survivor, Et decided it was time to look back on the franchise to determine which film is a dull...

How far would you go for social media followers? It’s a question many millennials have probably asked themselves -- but hopefully, they won’t go as far as the leads of the upcoming horror-comedy Tragedy Girls.
The film tells the story of two death-obsessed teenage girls who embark on a killing spree in their small town to draw attention to their social media accounts, and its two stars, Brianna Hildebrand and Alexandra Shipp, spoke with Et about how frighteningly close to reality this concept is.
“I don’t think it’s that far-fetched,” Shipp admitted. “I think this generation is moving toward something like this in a sense.”
“It definitely says a lot about the power of social media,” Hildebrand agreed. “It is definitely not too far off to think a young person would do something like this for likes and attention.”
“I think it only takes one person to go that far,” Shipp added.

For better or worse, Adam Brody will always be remembered as Seth Cohen from The O.C. The affable and awkward teen is easy to find inside the weathered and wiser 37-year-old Brody, but the San Diego native might never be able to shake his early-aughts pop culture iconography. Despite that infamous role, Brody has had a pretty consistent career over the last two decades, playing opposite Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in Mr. & Mrs. Smith, being directed by famed playwright Neil Labute and making guest appearances on beloved TV shows like House of Lies and The League. This month, he’s in the buddy comedy Big Bear, where he gets to sport a pretty mean mustache, and returns with the second season of StartUp on Crackle.

On the morning of April 18, 2017, five young filmmakers gathered in front of seven actors, directors, and executives to pitch their movies. Two hours later, one filmmaker received $1 million. This was the first edition of “At&T Presents: Untold Stories,” a new partnership between the mobile provider and Tribeca Film Festival, designed to fill a gap in the marketplace by not only financing a project but also providing it with an audience.
The winner, Nyu film school graduate Faraday Okoro, received a giant check at a lunch following the pitch session broadcast on Facebook Live (see the full 92-minute pitch session below). In addition to the cash prize (all projects required budgets under $1 million), Okoro’s work is guaranteed a slot at the 2018 edition of the Tribeca Film Festival (assuming he meets that deadline) and will run across several At&T video platforms, including Directv. Whether you love it or loathe it, the ending to The Blair Witch Project is still discussed to this day, but it almost didn't conclude the way it did. As part of their "Untold Stories" issue, Entertainment Weekly talked with The Blair Witch Project directors Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sánchez about one of the film's alternate endings [spoiler warning for those who haven't seen the film].
Speaking with EW, Myrick and Sánchez said that they came up with the film's ending—with Mike facing the corner, and Heather yelling and dropping her camera in the basement of an isolated house that they entered in search of Josh—only three days before filming it.
Although effective in creeping people out at its test screening, Artisan, the film's distributor, desired a less ambiguous conclusion, so Myrick and Sanchez returned to the woods to film more endings, one of which featured "Mike hanging from a noose, crucified on a wooden stick man,...

All the while, the usual players, Rumplestiltskin, the Evil Queen, and Zelena have been creating their usual kinds of havoc, as Storybrooke continues to be the town where everything that can go wrong will go wrong.

You can say Anya Taylor-Joy is something of a modern scream queen, breaking into film this year with The Witch, Morgan and the upcoming Split from M. Night Shyamalan. Aside from Netflix’s Barack Obama biopic, Barry, Taylor-Joy’s first three movies have established her as the new It girl of the horror genre.
The Witch, in particular, was a 2015 Sundance Film Festival breakout that scared up $40 million at the box office when it was released in February and topped Rolling Stone and Vulture’s top horror film lists. The film, about a Puritan family threated by witchcraft, earned nominations at the Critics’ Choice Awards and Independent Spirit Awards as well as a Gotham Award for Breakthrough Actor for Taylor-Joy, where the 20-year-old actress stunned in a Gucci gown designed by Alessandro Michele.

On Once Upon a Time Season 6 Episode 6, we boarded the Nautilus with Killian Jones, and learned about his less than pleasant run in with Captain Nemo and his first mate Liam.
Did anyone call for an awkward and violent half-brother reunion?
Below, TV Fanatics Caralynn Lippo, Allison Nichols, Steve Ford, and Robin Harry, along with Once Upon a Fan's Teresa Martin, share their views on the Evil Queen's relationship with Henry and Rumple, the new plan for the shears, and more from "Dark Waters."
Does the Evil Queen really care about Henry, or is she just manipulating him to get what she wants?
Caralynn: It's tough to say. We do know, based on Hyde's relationship with Mary, that the evil halves are actually capable of feeling love/other positive emotions. I think it's likely that Eq does care about Henry, but she also wouldn't hesitate to manipulate him to get what she needs.

Once Upon a Time episode 6, "Dark Waters," introduced another character from the Land of Untold Stories while exploring a part of Hook's past. It's been a while since we've gotten a Hook back story, and I thought the writers meshed Hook and the Land of Untold Stories fairly well. The storyline also gave the writers the opportunity to explore the new dynamic between Hook and Henry.

The Land of Untold Stories has invaded Once Upon a Time in season 6 and the show is embracing that fact. The show has welcomed the Land of Untold Stories with open arms but maybe they should have been a little bit more restrictive. In a story that started with just Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Once Upon a Time has expanded to include the Count of Monte Cristo and now, for some reason, Aladdin and Jasmine.
This is not even to mention all the central characters' dilemmas, which include the return of the Evil Queen, Emma's apparently unstoppable murder, Rumple and Belle's crumbling marriage and a mystery about David's father that precisely no one cares about solving. Even after Once Upon a Time saw the end of the Jekyll and Hyde story, by way of gruesome impalement, there may be too many stories for this season to handle.

Adding the Land of the Untold Stories to Once Upon a Time is probably one of the best or worst ideas for season 6. On the one hand, there are plenty of fairy tales and stories to tell, such as Jekyll and Hyde, Jasmine and Aladdin, and many more. On the other hand, the stories can get very complicated.
In this episode, "Strange Case," it gets a little complicated but sort of works its way out in the end. The Evil Queen and Hyde try to steal the serum Jekyll is working on to destroy them, while Regina seeks help from Rumple to stop them. Meanwhile, Snow heads back to school and meets a new friend.

Magic, dreams and glass slippers shatter on Season 6 of Once Upon A Time, which has plenty of questions to answer...
This review contains spoilers.
6.3 The Other Shoe
Drama queens rule this episode. I mean “drama queens” in the sense of actual fairy-tale queens (and princesses) with a drama factor high enough to get them their own Emmy-winning daytime soap opera.
Cinderella has a shady past. We all know the Disney version—evil stepmother, fairy godmother, nasty stepsisters, glass slipper, smitten prince, happily ever after, sparkly and starry-eyed. Now take off those mouse ears and pink blinders. “Happily ever after” is as much of a fraud on Once Upon A Time as Rumplestiltskin, whose grimy scams are the reason Cinderella suddenly turns into a prom queen down to her hazardous glass slippers. This version is more like evil stepmother, misunderstood stepsister and more issues than a tabloid. Nothing...

Ah, now this is the image of Cinderella I’ve been waiting my whole life to see. Not one who gets swept off her feet and lives happily ever after, but one who rushes to her step-sister’s aid with a rifle in hand. Once Upon A Time has used the format this season to tell lots of “Untold Stories”. They’re finally succeeding at getting back to their Season 1 roots, and I absolutely adore that approach. This was a really fun one to watch. This week on Once Upon A Time: In the flashbacks, Cinderella meets her prince for the first time, and learns

Just when you thought Once Upon a Time had spun Cinderella’s tale to completion, Sunday’s episode reopened her proverbial storybook for another dramatic reveal — and a delightfully campy showdown.

It turns out Ella — or Ashley, pick your poison — has been carrying around a pumpkin-load of guilt over getting her happily ever after. She blames herself for spoiling the happiness of her stepsister Clorinda, who was apparently a closeted nice girl with a secret boyfriend (Prince Thomas’ footman!) whom she planned to marry behind Lady Tremaine’s back.

It looks like Cinderella is finally going to the ball!
It's been a long time since Once Upon a Time caught up with one of the most beloved fairytale princesses, Cinderella.
Not seen since Once Upon a Time Season 1 Episode 4, it looks like we're finally going to resume her story in, "The Other Shoe."
Elsewhere in the episode, Regina will try to make a deal with Mr. Hyde, and Hook gives Henry a lesson is sword fighting.
The official episode description from ABC reads, "As Storybrooke continues to welcome the new arrivals from the Land of Untold Stories, families, friends and even long-lost enemies are reunited once again. When Ashley (Cinderella) searches for her step-family, intent on settling their unfinished business, Emma, Hook and Henry scramble to help her before it’s too late. Meanwhile, Regina attempts to bribe Mr. Hyde for information about how to defeat the Evil Queen and Snow helps Dr.

We all know Once Upon a Time loves an origin story, and this one sure is sad. In the Sunday, Oct. 9 episode, Once Upon a Time revisits Cinderella (Jessy Schram) to learn a bit more about her background. In the exclusive clip above, we find out how she got her name. Basically, her stepmother and stepsisters are big jerks. Classic Cinderella. You see, her prized possession, a gown from her mother, was unceremoniously destroyed by her evil step-family. Ella + cinders = Cinderella. The episode, titled "The Other Shoe," finds a lot of families reuniting thanks to the new arrivals from the Land of Untold Stories. Ashley/Ella seeks help from Emma (Jennifer Morrison), Hook (Colin O'Donoghue),...

After an hour of not-so-surprising turns, all I can think about is eating a Monte Cristo sandwich.
Gooey grilled cheese with ham...I'm salivating just thinking about...
More important things, yes. The very first Untold Story to unfold on Once Upon a Time Season 6 Episode 2 belonged to the Count himself, or Edmund, as the Charmings once knew him.
Edmund: All I wanted was a fresh start.
Regina: And you can still get one.
Permalink: And you can still get one. Added: October 02, 2016
While I really wanted to get invested in the Untold Stories this season, I truly hope that they don't all play out this way.
Poor Edmund, just like the story, wanted to avenge the death of his fiance, but rather than finding a new love and getting a happy ending, as the Count seemingly should have, his story ends quite tragically at the hand of Regina. (More on that in a moment.

Regina is done with apples, Rumplestiltskin isn’t redeeming himself, & Hyde is still evil on the Once Upon a Time season 6 premiere...
This review contains spoilers.
6.1 The Savior
After five seasons of spells, trickery, torment, irredeemable curses, enchanted quills, people who turn into puppets, human hearts in boxes and a descent into Hades, Season 6 of Once Upon A Time looks to be taking an even darker turn in the shadows of that enchanted forest.
Maybe my seven-year-old self is still clinging to the Disney version in which Beast doesn’t make shady deals and morphs into a handsome prince at the end, but I was never a fan of Rumbelle. Their first dance made me cringe. The flashback of their first dance made me cringe. Rumplestiltskin has been nothing but a beast to Belle—which is exactly why I was so thrilled about Morpheus and his magical hourglass.

There's nothing more dangerous than an untold story.
Luckily for Once Upon a Time, there is a never-ending supply of stories, and if this episode is any indication of what's to come this season, then let's face it; we're in no danger at all.
After what felt like an extraordinarily long summer, Once Upon a Time Season 6 Episode 1 welcomed us back into Storybrooke, giving each of its major players something big to work with.
Yes, it's true that a blimp has landed, filled with mysterious residents that we don't know much about...yet. All of that seems like background noise when compared with the everyday struggles that the heroes of Storybrooke face.
Rumbelle's son is already delivering warnings from the womb, Regina can't seem to move forward, Henry's getting a little philosophical, Zelena is face to face with the Evil Queen, and it looks like Emma is headed for death.
