Much of this episode is filler from the time wasted on black & white history we already knew to the incessant low-light rummaging in the basement. The Millie Bobby Brown/John Simms meeting is a superb scene, but that is all there is. Inexplicably Madison's parents are present at the fire. Then we get the ridiculous Deus ex Machina logic of a nine-year old to wrap up the whole season. The predictable lame ending with Shepherd (James Frain) and Simms gives no closure and the inevitable set-up for a season 2 that nobody wants or needs.
